Salamangreat and BAPK in Grand Final, very interesting. I can see how good both players play their deck, and why they can go this far with their "old" deck.
In a meta as open as this, popular staples and how they're used matter more than popular decks, and in turn understanding how to play around them matters more than being able to play them. For example, TTT is more popular as a hand trap punish than Gamma right now, so people are throwing out Maxx "C" and Dimension Shifter blind instead of waiting for something to guarantee them a draw off one or a banish off the other. But that leaves an opportunity to both play Gamma and run a lot of cards that don't rely heavily on setup plays.

The reason I do extra plays when it seems like the opponent has no chance, is cause they could have something in the grave or hand that stops the play, as such as that Elemental Hero card that summons to the field when you attack or the card that banishes itself from the grave to negate the attack and end the battle phase. Now you could be Dark Ruler'd and they do some sh!t from the grave and hand.
Yo jaxliao needs to make a UA-cam channel. I'm really interested in learning Burning Abyss Phantom Knights. Seems very resilient even through multiple disruptions.
i dont like putting mathmech cards on a salad deck. it would either be having the deck be more a mathmech deck than a salad one, or you would need a 20 card extra deck to be able to have the mathmech cards complement the salamangreat cards properly

In the current state Ishizus are only good if your deck has some synergy with them, they arent truly staples as most people would make you believe. Its just that 95% of the decks do have some synergy with them (some most than others). However, I dont believe PKBA has that, sure it could come up sometimes, but much better to run other things

@@allanyang21 actually its a "condition" not an effect Condition cant be negated All kind of material limitation is a condition. Another sample of condition is activation condition such as mathmech circular which limit u to attack with only 1 monster that cant be negated even u negate ur own circular
ok thats new to me, cause if a card says "cannot be destroy by card effect" but you can negate the effect, and you can destroy it. So how do i know if one is a effect, and one is a condition

I’d say that master duel is currently in a very good place right now unlike how the tcg and ocg was during this time. It’s nice to see that there is so much variety tournament wise.
@@goblinslayer1115 Exactly, Meta Weekly is just seen as a fun format and not something very serious like ranked. I dont downplay Dkayed tournaments here its just that his community is very healthy in deck choices and prefer to have fun in their duels but thats make it amazing to watch his tournaments.
Lol. MD is so irreparably broken that people think it's good now just to maintain their sanity playing it. Have you been in high Duelist Cup ladder? I guarantee you "very good place" is the last phrase you would use to describe it. Casual tournaments like this show nothing about the gamestate.

So the only way to watch these tournaments is to sub to your twitch? If it was any platform OTHER than Twitch I would, but I REFUSE to give that awful company any of my money. Please make the VODs watchable after a certain period of time or something!
Trades hand trap and board breaker space for much more extension potential and superfactorial which wins you games on its own if not called by crowed or ghost belled, it’s an interesting trade off. I’d say it’s much better than pure salad and similar/slightly worse than pure math
@@gizmo6149 I've played salamangreat and many variants of the deck for a long time now. It does depend on the meta, but currently I can say the trade off makes the deck worse. Pure salamangreats is better. For example, during the early levels of duelist cup I ran salamgreat with many extenders like parallel exceed; however during the later part of the ladder I took out the extenders and replaced it with more hand traps which is more impactful against strong meta decks, especially when I win 9% of coinflips (not kidding). I don't know much about the makeup of dkayeds tournaments but from the limited videos I have watched I definitely can see the benefits of extenders over hand traps; however even if that is the case there are better more effective extenders than putting mathmech in the deck-- exceed works great for example. (This is my opinion based off of first hand experience- not interested in arguing about it)
@@neilpersen ure right it depends on meta. Todays meta has many extenders and can make early negate/protection for important extender So negating with hand trap often does nothing. Even boardbreaker r now more relevant.
hes been playing this deck for over a year, when you do that, its bound to happen sometime. I agree its crazy, but its not like he did it 2-3 games in a row
