I'm still angry how hard that front was...made me look like a fool. other videos: • Tusk 2 Track Tires - 4... • Tusk 2Track Adventure ... www.rockymountainatvmc.com/ti...
Kitchen sink is very handy, dishwash and hot water for degreasing, rinse in hot water and things dry a lot faster. Don't laugh, ive cleaned crankcases in the dishwasher before.
Tip, put a little bit of air in that tube first and then install it inside of the tire before putting it on the rim, and then once you put the tire in place to slip it onto the rim, pull the inner tube out by the valve stem and feed it through the hole in the wheel, attach the nut to hold it in place and then install the tire, this way you're not having to fish for the valve stem when the tire is already on the rim as that is a royal pain in the ass LOL
The problem is the stiff sidewall, I've changed many tires this way over the years with little or no problem, these and Trail Max Missions are the only tires have had an issues installing.
Saw this first on @ARiemann1 video and has been using this method since, having tube in the tire and not having to fish for it makes life so much easier, at least for me.
@@peterlv I guess I've gotta rare method of curling fingers to push the stem right through...I've only not been able to do that on the tusk and trail max Missions
@@dimsyadventures I was doing the same thing forever, also used tire valve puller intermittently, but it was actually Lyndon Poskitt's video I saw and after that I have been putting tube into the tire before putting tire on rim. Well there's a few issues with that, the tires won't fit, the small oven isn't deep enough, also id rather not make my whole apartment(and my neighbors) smell like a tire factory, and lastly, if I fix a flat on the trail, pretty safe bet, I won't find a working over in the bush, it's a new tire with little info, I use tools I carry to put them on, vs having to find out if I can do them when trouble arises.
Shag carpet in the garage, you truly love that bike. I could not mount trailmax rear even with 2 guys helping. I finally had to take it to a shop with a hydraulic tire changer. I wouldn’t buy it again because out in the world I’d be screwed with a flat
Oh this is my apartment haha, it was blistering cold outside so I brought the bike in overnight, trail max Missions aren't very fun to change, I've done a few sets with the tools I used in the video.
This tire is significantly stiffer, d-sports put up no fight for me installing them...getting ready to do some testing on the road on the 2track, videos very soon!
a few years ago, I started changing my own tires and for several friends...so I could learn how to do it in the field and it pays off big time! but in the shop I have tire changers. putting the tire over the heater or in the sun before hand helps a ton and lube@@dimsyadventures

Good video. I have a set waiting to go on my 1090. I was kind of disappointed with how stiff these sidewalls are. I stopped buying Moto Z because they were so stiff and I could never get the sidewall to seat the bead (1090 is tubeless) without serious drama. I’m really dreading mounting these tires because of it.
Awesome, those little cans are so perfect!...after some thought, these tire are marketed for the big adv bikes...maybe it's to help with the heavy bikes or something?
Doubtful zip ties would have works for as stiff these are, I've probably change 150 tires with my bead pros, the Trail Max Mission Rear And This Tusk 2Track Front has been the only 2 that added a few minutes of annoyance..

I’m glad I’m not the only one that had such a hard time. These were my first motorcycle tires I have ever mounted.

You had an oven right there...put them inside on keep warm for awhile. They will spoon on like butter.

You must be single……working on the bike in the kitchen….is frowned upon in my house
I absolutely am! After some past experiences it quite enjoyable haha
If the 21 front is anything like the D-sport tusk I had to put on my dirt bike I know what I’m up against. My new set 2Track just came in

Thanks, with Motoz did you have? Can't say I've been unlucky with bead seating from them yet..the 2track front was pretty rough though haha
Thanks for this. Any sense of how much pressure you had to use to seat the rear bead?
My rear is on the way.
I don't remember, it went pretty easily.
Same here. Front tire was hard
I carry a small can of WD-40 for that reason too. Weird that the front was such a bear, usually they are pretty easy.
Awesome, those little cans are so perfect!...after some thought, these tire are marketed for the big adv bikes...maybe it's to help with the heavy bikes or something?
How did you manage to get your motorcycle through the front door?
Fits right in, just a slight turn of the bars to avoid scuffing the paint on the house
Did you balance the tires before installing? How do the tires balance out?
Yea I mentioned I balanced them in other videos, both sets have taken minimal weight.
Maybe convert to solid wheel ? Especially after seeing the struggle
Cast wheels bend or break on hard off-road, for the small pain I'll stick with tubes..some big adv bikes have tube spokes...the AT standard does not.
You ride on these yet? Looking at getting a set for my AT.
I've got a whole series of testing videos on my channel...
@dimsyadventures cool I'll check it out. Thanks.
Where do you purchase a small can of WD40?
At many stores all over the U.S
Try the zip-tie method, makes putting on tires an absolute breeze

Did you use the same tube? What tube do you use on AT? Tubes expire like tires? Thanks
I use OEM rear tube for AT, whatever for the front...I use tubes until they are unfixable or known to be very old, in also carry spares though
@@dimsyadventures Thanks
@@dimsyadventures One more question: I saw that you didn't balance the wheel after changing the tire as many recommend. What do you think about this?
