As I know, KR Market probably was formed in early 20th century when the population was very less and since then Bangalore has expanded radially in a circular form. So as you move from the center radially you find newer areas (which are better organized) developed in middle/late 20th and 21st centuries. Gandhi Bazaar area in the night has a great vibe. Do visit Jayanagar 4th Block too in the night.

I found it to be a fascinating place. I have been to many markets in Asia, but this was far more intense than I'd experienced in Southeast Asia.
