Kyoto has many other rail services in the centre of Kyoto such as Keihan Railway and Hankyu Railway. They don’t have much difference than Metro. But Kolkata doesn’t have any other metropolitan rail services.
We have oldest suburban rail built by British that runs through almost whole city and its so quiet and discrete that you wouldn't even notice. Riding it you can tour whole kolkata in a loop from howrah bridge pricep ghat Vidyasagar Setu bridge remount road localities of new Alipore, see majerhat station- etc etc

Kolkata has suburban rail system of 1500km length, which one of the longest in the world and it also has 20km of tram service.
