  • Last year, right as we were about to turnover to 2024, we lost a NASCAR legend in Cale Yarborough. Yarborough would make his debut for Bob Weatherly in the 1957 Southern 500. 8 years later, driving the #06 for Kenny Myler, Yarborough would win his first race at the Valdosta 75 Speedway. Over the next two years, he would drive for two of the most celebrated teams of all time: the Wood Brothers and Junior Johnson and Associates. Following his departure from Junior in 1980, Yarborough would become one of the most prolific part-time drivers, and across the next 5 years would score his final 14 wins for M.C. Anderson Racing and Ranier-Lundy Racing. When all was said and done, Yarborough had an impressive career, with 83 wins, 4 Daytona 500 victories, and 3 consecutive NASCAR titles from 1976 to 1978.
    Rest in Peace, Cale Yarborough
