    We do church services, events, and we even quote God, but is He really behind it. We are professionals at talking about God, but do we honestly have a personal relationship with Him? Are we real and open with God? How easy is it that we treat God like our social media. We are "friends" with God, but don't really know Him. Uploaded with permission!

      I think many people confuse having a relationship with god with having a relationship with the pastor. This video really breaks it down, and breaks down my struggles with a relationship with god.

    It's incredible how passionate he is with his sermons.
    I would probably be too embarrassed to do something like this on stage.
    And a lot of preachers would probably be too.
    This man has no doubt about anything he preaches.
    This man really gets that if you truly believe in God, every thing you do in life should reflect that.

    I’m a cradle Catholic, but I had never heard anyone mentioned a personal relationship with Jesus until after I turned 64. I first heard of this idea during a bible studying session, when one non-Catholic Christian said: “It doesn’t matter what church you belong to; your personal relationship with Jesus is all that is important.” I didn’t agree for I was taught that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church, but not knowing what to say, I remained silent. I thought: Wow! What’s a good way to keep people away from church. I quickly forgot about this idea, but a few weeks later, I heard the same expression, this time from a practicing Catholic. Again, I didn’t agree nor did I know what to say; I brushed off the idea as no more than an attempt to be politically correct. I didn’t think about this idea afterward, but then, it hit me one day when a priest told the same group, myself included, that until recently, he didn’t know that our relationship with Jesus is so important. Well! I was perplexed, but at least he didn’t say, it doesn’t matter what church you belong to, I thought. I pondered upon what he said, and decided to check it out. And, behold, here’s what I found, Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraphs 299, 796, 1309: (299) Because God creates through wisdom, his creation is ordered: "You have arranged all things by measure and number and weight."151 The universe, created in and by the eternal Word, the "image of the invisible God", is destined for and addressed to man, himself created in the "image of God" and called to a personal relationship with God.152 (796) The unity of Christ and the Church, head and members of one Body, also implies the distinction of the two within a personal relationship. (1039) In the presence of Christ, who is Truth itself, the truth of each man's relationship with God will be laid bare.624 (See CCC for full text and foot notes 151, 152,and 624)
    Wow! I had no idea that calling to a personal relationship with God is the teaching of the Catholic Church. But here it is. Written down in black and white. So I accept, I believe, and I submit myself to the teaching of the Catholic Church.
    Now, knowing that a personal relationship with Jesus is important, I asked myself, “What is my personal relationship with Jesus? Is it a hi-and-bye relationship, or is it a close one? ” I know my personal relationship with Jesus is better than just hi-and-bye, but I can’t quantify it. I wondered if spending one hour weekly with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration, or celebrating His life, death, and resurrection in the Holy Mass indicative of a close relationship. I don’t know what I ought to do to foster a personal relationship with Jesus, but I do know what Jesus wants me to do to have the closest, the most intimate personal relationship with Him. He wants me to eat His flesh and drink His blood so that I can remain in Him and He in me. He said: Jn 6: 56, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” Can any relationship be more personal, more intimate, or closer than to be in each other?
    So to the friends who told me about a personal relationship with Jesus, I thank you. I apologize for considering your good words as a way to keep people away from church, and as an attempt to be politically correct. I now believe that a personal relationship with Jesus is all that is important, but, my friends, if you want to have a close personal relationship with Jesus, close enough to remain in Him and He in you; it does matter what church you belong to.

      If you have a personal relationship with jesus christ will separate yourself from the unjust and the false prophets. Yes it's all about your relationship with jesus but that doesn't mean you can do what ever you want as long and you eat his flesh and drink his blood. When I accepted jesus in my heart was my first and real communion. His body/ bread was sacrificed and his blood washed away my sins.

      Tuyen Pham, hi😊🙏✝️, thanks for sharing I hav searched n struggle with this as I am born into Catholic Church. Struggling as to go or stay with Catholic Church but I find wherever I try to find or look each has its good n I wish the good of each would be combined into One church. With Catholic I like the sound of organs n singing of hymns like angels not the loud n noisy singing. I like the breaking of bread n communion cuz that is keeping with Him n reminding us of him. I like the burned incense to honor HIM cuz I find in Bible it does mention many times of incense n perfume or oil. It mentions when he is born, what did the 3 wiseman give Him?, Mary or one of the woman came with perfume or incense n put it on Jesus n he said let it be written n her story told forever of what she did, n it mentions incense in John the revelation. I like the reenactment of the Lamb, his sacrifice to remind us of the reason he came to Be with us n what he left us. This is all in the relationship with him n keeping with him. All Good But, scripture is repeated every year( u can’t grow in the Bible n know all of God’s word) cuz the Word is important too n “some” sermons are not to relatable for u n mass should remain focused especially the mass only for God n few other things I do not agree, Cuz all praise n honor n Glory is to Him. I find Christians tho, do a thorough job on the Bible n most sermons are relatable to us n life n I like their baptism is submersed in water like old days n they focus God alone n his word n they believe u can go straight to God to forgive sins But they are lacking what Catholics hav is that Holy mass for God with the above I mentioned. So now I find that it’s not the religion u follow, it’s the relationship n what makes u feel close to God. So I go to Catholic Church n I close my eyes n absorb the Spirit of God cuz I shut out distractions of the eye(statues n stuff, although they can be looked at as a beautiful art but not worshipped) n receive Him spiritually n receive the reminders of Jesus n sing to God n I feel God with me cuz he knows your heart is with him n your trying to keep God n his Ways with u. but for His Word, I go with the Christian Bible readings n study. I realize it’s not wishy washy or unstable n that u hav to conform to a religion or a church. This is my One church n my relationship to God.

      I just want to challenge your faith, in that, why is your faith placed in the Catholic Church? Why do you belong to the church first and him 2nd? Why isn't your faith in Christ and his Word (the bible),
      Since the word of God is the only thing that is infallable?
      I don't say these things to offend you or condemn you, but in hope that you will ask yourself and seek out the answer and the root cause of why. To search, which one is held highest?
      & I challenge you to get in the word of God and pray that the Lord opens your eyes to them.

    anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught
    you, you abide in Him." ..........yet no preacher tells you that. God showed me personally!!! Its a personal relationship....no man needed!

    Francis makes a compelling argument in this message that there is a tremendous need for individuals to have a personal relationship with Jesus... to "go up on the mountain" regularly to have an encounter with the living God. I'm on board with that. But how? Francis established the need but I wish he would have given some ideas of how to do it.

    If the word says Seek yee first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you is it mandatory . Why does He give us a choice to follow or not to follow. To be religious or not. To judge or not to.
    Choices we make in life. God says and speaks. The bible is the voice I know.

      Hi Jan, start by prayer the “Our Father” then intentions- talking n voiced out to God u want to know Him n to receive Him, His truth his way n his life. Read his word, start with New Testament (Jesus time) n later can go with Old Testament(Jewish/Hebrew time). Do NEwTestament first so u know how Jesus lived n think then try to live your life like that so u can clean up your life n clean up your Spirit keep at it every day don’t let the Satan or Enemy distract u. Anything u hear in your head that’s negative or any feelings of depression rebuke it “in the name of Jesus Christ” n Go back to positive n good thoughts cuz God is good. N read his Word when u feel weak to Strengthen u. Find a Spiritual guide who’s true n real in the Word of God, find a good Church that focus on God n his Word for the Sabbath. Be truthful to yourself n God n confess your sins to Him n try to change your ways n keep with God’s way n u will find peace in your life. Your burdens are a grace from God so that u seek him n your Spirit be saved. That’s how much he loves u so that when it’s your time, u will be with him in Heaven. Remember how much God(The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) loves u that he sent his Son Jesus to go through all the torture n pain for u to hav salvation. When all your will is given to him, u will hav peace. When u pray close your eyes so that u don’t get distracted, remember God is in Spirit n only Good things are of God if u feel or hear anything not right, it’s the Enemy he can trick n keep u from God

    This is so needful in the church here in the West. We tend to come up with programs and church growth techniques which will not work. God sent His Son so He could take our punishment for our sins, so that His Father would pour out His Holy Spirit upon all who will believe in Christ. Without the Holy Spirit there is no Christian life, and with Him we do not need programs and gimmicks.

    The Gospel of Grace
    The Gospel for EVERYBODY TODAY
    What does it take to be Saved?
    Faith Alone
    1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV
    15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
    4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    Romans 4:24-25 KJV
    But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
    Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
    Galatians 1:11-12
    11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
    12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
    Are we all sinners?
    Does the blood of Jesus Save Me?
    Romans 3:23-25 KJV
    23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
    25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
    What if I continue to Sin?
    What if I stop having Faith?
    What if 5 years after being saved I have an affair?
    What if I aborted my child?
    What about my cousin who killed himself?
    When you first had faith in Christ you were sealed and secured from that day forward, no matter what you do or don’t do…
    Eternal Security
    Galatians 3:23-25 KJV
    23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
    24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
    25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
    Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV
    13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
    14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
    Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
    8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Titus 3:5 KJV
    5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
    6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
    7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
    Romans 8:15
    15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
    When you believe in you heart on the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ (The Finished Works) you are saved brothers and sisters for all of eternity (Eternal Security is Yours)
    Romans 8:38-39 KJV
    38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
    39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
    Nothing can ever take you away from our
    Lord when you believe in your heart. NOTHING
    NOT YOUR FUTURE PRIDE
    NOT YOUR PRESENT LUST
    NOT YOUR FUTURE LUST
    NOTHING MEANS NOTHING
    Thank you Jesus Christ for this promise you gave me and all who believe, I’m so blessed Lord.
    I pray this helps You or Someone Else get a little closer to Jesus and get clarity on what it takes to be Saved by Faith in the finished works of Christ

    KJV. Matthew 6:9 After his manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
    NIV. Matthew 6:9 This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
    Is this how you sanctify God's name?
    It's funny how people talk about Jesus Christ a lot but what about the Father??.

      Bobby Wong True...too many religions mislead many by praying to Mary or saints carved idols or Jesus alone. When God tells us (through Lord Jesus) to pray ONLY to the one true God, through the name of his loving son Lord Jesus Christ. Francis Chan gives some great uplifting talks that touch my heart because they come from God's word...the bible, but he seems to sometimes mention that Jesus is God? When the bible clearly states otherwise...for example...Jesus was approached by the disciples whilst he was sat on the Mount of olives they asked Jesus as to when these things will be?, what will be the sign of your presence? and the conclusion of the system of things Jesu replied in Matthew 24: 36 "Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the son, but only the Father."
      If Jesus was God...would he have not answered them differently?

      Gary Blears I believe the understanding that Jesus is God comes from John 1:1 & John1:14.
      The point of Jesus being completely God, yet operating as a man was to model how we should walk as humans. Jesus did all he did because of His union & intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Take for example the encounter of Jesus with the bleeding woman in Luke 8:40-48, I at first take didn't understand how Jesus did not know who touched him since he was God, according to John 1. But with the understanding that Jesus didn't operate as God on earth, but as a man in communion with the Holy Spirit - who knows and shares the heart of God, it makes sense that Jesus didn't know everything while He was here - only the things shared with Him for Him to share with us.
      This is my understanding. Hope it helps.

      KJV John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
      I completely agree with you that Jesus is a god but who was he with? He can't be with himself because that doesn't make any logical sense.
      Read Hebrews 1:1-4
      “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son”
      Father and Son relationship. Father being the almighty God, Jehovah, and his Son who is Jesus Christ.

    the Word of God clearly teaches that a person is saved by FAITH ALONE in Christ. This is evidenced by Romans 4:5; Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5 and hundreds of other Scriptures. Romans 4:5 states... "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." The Bible couldn't possibly be any clearer on this matter. Salvation is through faith in Christ's righteousness alone (Romans 4:5-6). This has nothing to do with Christian living. James 2:18 speaks of the FRUIT of a man's faith, which should be evident in every believer's life; BUT, that is completely separate from the ROOT of a man's faith, which is by faith alone in Christ.

      It will still be authentic to God, but the scripture your referring to points to being authentic to other people. Because if you say you are Christian, but you, for example, don't help the needy, and people see that, they'll say your faith is lacking, that's what the bible means, our faith won't be authentic in the eyes of men. Because we go to heaven because we have the righteousness of Jesus imputed in our account when we got saved, see what I mean, Williams.

    • @robertpunu4399
      @robertpunu4399 7 років тому

      But, Williams, how much good works must a person have or quality of good works must he show before we determine if that person is saved or not. Remember that story that Jesus told about the two men going to the temple to pray? One was a pharisee , the other was a publican. The Pharisee was saying to God that he was a faithful temple goer and that he gave money to the temple. He was boasting to God about his good works and saying how he wasn't like this publican sinner praying near him. Meanwhile the publican was afraid to look up to heaven but just beat his chest in anguish saying to God 'be merciful to me for I am a sinner' Then Jesus said the publican was the one that went home justified or forgiven. So I'm saying that people that emphasize good works in a person's life before ,during, or after salvation are in danger of being self-righteous hypocrites.

    • @robertpunu4399
      @robertpunu4399 7 років тому

      1 John3:6 is talking about our position in Christ, and not our state. Our state in God's eyes is that we are sinners. But our position, after our salvation, is that we are born of God( born again). We have Christ's righteousness put in our account. We are sinners, but since we have Christ's righteousness imputed, we have seen Him and know Him and are considered not guilty of sin, we are now 'holy' and can see God in heaven(because the bible says that without holiness no one can see God).
      And you are wrong in saying that after a person is saved he will not keep on sinning anymore. Have you stop sinning in thought, word, and deed after you got saved? The bible says that is impossible. Even the best Christian still sin like the apostle Paul who wrote half of the New Testament. You see after salvation we have two natures living in us that war against each other. Our fleshy, carnal nature and our spiritual nature (which we got when we got saved). Even Paul said in his letters to the churches that he was carnal, not doing what he wants to do, but because of his flesh, he does things that he shouldn't be doing. Even though you are saved and a Christian, as long as you are still alive, you will sin until you die. But you are still a child of God and are going to live in heaven and see God. So God bless you, and get proper Christian doctrine.

      Williams, how much good works must a person have or the quality of the works before we judge that he isn't a true saved person because his works was lacking in some way, either the quantity of it or the quality?

    the people were warned NOT to walk up the mountain - Moses was their leader and mediator - to mix up OT and NT/modern living is misleading. The people were not fan-worshipping Moses; the were doing what they had been told to do.

    • @SomaKitsune
      @SomaKitsune 7 років тому +9

      skiwime In Exodus 20:18-21 the people didn't want God to speak to them directly - they wanted Moses to be their mediator. Another thing is that may have been OT but as of Jesus' death and resurrection we are allowed "up the mountain" as it were but people are still content with having a mediator. I think that's what he's saying.

      skiwime I think he's referring to now in today's age. in the OT the was how it was but I think the reference is there now we don't have to go to Moses because of the blood of Jesus but more often than not we go to Moses.

    • @TheJewStar
      @TheJewStar 7 років тому +21

      skiwime I think you're missing the point. The point is that as Christians living under the New Covenant, we have the privilege of going up the mountain ourselves to meet with God like Moses did. Yet we forget that and act like OT people who were not allowed to go up the mountain themselves. There's no more barrier, there's no more prohibition thanks to the blood of Jesus and we are welcome on the mountain, but we forget that and don't do it and instead "fan-worship" modern day "Moseses"

      back then if you were to read correctly they were terrified with the presence of LORD. So they asked if they could speak to moses instead of God speaking to him. But now as Jesus has replaced our place God will see us as how He sees His Son. therefore, we have full access to God and no need of a substitute like moses, one of God's prophet.
