This is the most insightful guide I've seen of any Last Epoch content, I especially like that you divide the build breakdown into chapters. Thank you!!
Saw the VOD of your stream yesterday and I, too, was waiting for this. Gotta say, your guide format is probably the best I've ever seen. You should definitely lean into this!
@@pinchingloaf how do you deal 20-30k crits with smite continually? I only do that damage when I have the buff from scales of eterra active and then its back down to like 3-5k crits for me with pretty much the same gear as you have.

I'm pushing 350 corruption easily, and that's without a +skill helmet, wand and relic (still farming LP+crit for those). Realistically I can push much higher, but I like to be able to clear really fast. Hello from Norway! Divine Bolt Paladin is so much fun to play thanks a lot for the video, at the moment I'm playing build as Iva Markova made the build, but I'm going to switch to your build, very nice to have a voice that explains a bit about the build, thanks again
Finally someone else is playing this. I just started playing this game a few days ago and i never look at builds, just looking at synergies of powers and i built something very near, though i did not think about reversal to be used in this build. Since im still new i didnt know about many of the gear options you showed, so that helps a lot. I was using the channeled healing hands but doesn't seem to work with the talent that auto targets you but this definitely gives me a more solid foundation to play with.
Amazing guide as always, Loaf. You are hands down the best build explainer I've ever seen on any game. Leveling this build now and really enjoying the play style so far.
I was in the midst of collecting items to respec in your previous iteration of the build.z watching this vid now to get my stuff in order! This build looks amazing
Love this build, i was playing a pure Healing Hands Holy Bolt version that just focused on that. Great at clearing maps but single target DPS just felt lacking (at least with my current gear), this on the other hand is way more flexible with switching out Lunge for Volatile Reversal and spamming Smite on Echo bosses.
Sick build man glad you're utilizing divine bolts from HHs I found that to be extremely good too and getting a soulfire and ashes of mortality with 2LP was a big power spike for me when I was running it. I felt super strong at clearing trash mobs made it to 1k corruption and it wasn't difficult at all lol never even got close to 100k ward was sitting around 50-60k but that was plenty to blast to 1k corruption. I have to try the Smite set up I was running Rive then swapped to Vengeance it looks really strong against bosses.
I love this guide thank you! I am only level 35 but I am playing your build alongside my friends summon druid friend in HC. I thought the paladin buffs/ auras would also benefit his pets. Do you think that would go well together or are there some tweaks to better support his pets? Thanks a lot
Holy aura would give them some benefits and if they stand next to you they will have tons of heals. If your buddy uses a hp drain item, he will also get insane amounts of ward if he is next to you.
Thanks for the update. Its a bit wierd though, having to change setup for bosses vs echoes. Volatile reversal and healing hands. I also like to play arround with divine flare instead of stacking sigils, which you have to actively press a buttom all the time. Divine flare will help the clear a lot faster but also is a better mana spender for devotion to benefit.
solid starter Replacement gear , Isdora's belt high armor and cast speed, Invokers scorching grasp set ring with cast speed, Calamity unq helm fire damage and cast speed. The extra cast speed goes a long way to make it feel better to play.

Hey Pinchingloaf, very good work. I am comming here after a while as a casual player, i am on the stage on using the Helmet (Prismatic Gaze). But the Sigil of Hope costs 25 (27 without my Wand) and does not release the prism shards (needs a spell over 40 Mana)
I dont use it on this version. I have fire shred on the blessing. It was too much headache dealing with the sigils one at a time and I can get max sigils in about .5 seconds with this set up. Hope that helps.
@@pinchingloaf i am! i followed your guide and in one day i swifted from being able to only farm 200c rive paladin into a killing machine in 500c !! and i have a much easier time to farm bosses, also no longer worried to died from randon shit off screen!! thanks a lot
Just one quick Question, hopfully you still checking here=D Which Uniques, if any at all, are worth wearing even without LP. i finally got the belt but without LP so i am wondering if it is worth using. Sorry if i missed it anywhere in the video and thank you in advance. Btw Awesome Guide, was a lot of info and fun watching it=)
No worries, you can use all of them without LP. In the video im actually using a belt without LP because all of my slams were really bad lol. Sorry for the delayed response.
Wow that was fantastic thanks very much for the build and explanation. I was hoping you might ask one question: I think there are 1-handed weapon options that will give you either base crit chance, or with the scepter you can get a giant chunk of % increased spell crit chance. I'm guessing this occurred to you and you have a reason why the Ladle is better? Thanks again.
Yeah the ladle gives you more spell damage vs %spell damage and it gives you a bunch of cast speed. More cast speed means more healing hands which means more ward.
hi Pinchi, i have a question, the two orbs you have following behind( cold and Lighting) its a cosmetic? or some unique item make this orbs? i trying to follow the guide, but i dont understand that. Sorry for my bad english, and i hope u understand me and can answer the question. Thx so much.
Hi, Great video. I have one question. I have Frostbite Shackles, but only with 1LP and i dont have a lot of lucky, so i havent get legendary item with experimental affix. Does it make sense to use these gloves without this affix and wear Exsanguinous armor instead? Or just use exalted hands?
41:30 you mention you should be above 80% critical strike chance? Is that right? Even on your ultimate planner you're at 64%, no where near 80% crit. Or am I missing something?
Yeah the planner averages all the stats on gear so it averages out the pieces of gear that give base crit which drastically lowers it. Thats why its SUPER important to get the base crit on the helmet and offhand at max. If you select the "max" option on the planner the crit should skyrocket.
Does anyone know where those divine bolts are coming from in the original video from Iva Markova? Is it a talent in the skill tree or an item? Thanks a lot!
It’s from healing hands and the pally passive tree. You have to be “healing” yourself. This is always triggered when healing hands healing is converted to ward.
It will be more of a mid tier build probably. It’s gonna be pretty squishy so you’ll have to play around that. Don’t know what the new ward values will put it at yet. Damage should be the exact same.
It’s because scales of eterra has a terrible unique effect but has great base stats. So you get the elements that don’t proc whatever element you actually use.
Divine bolts proc when you heal yourself. If you equip a pair of gloves with the drain hp/ward mod, it converts all the healing to ward and that always counts as healing you. Hope that helps!
Hello I''m Korea user, I have one question for this build, I'm not max level, but I took the Divine catalyst nods in the healing hands. but even if you cast the healing hand in the air, divine catalyst is cast. but, i rarely cast divine catalyst. if you cast the healing hands 10times, you divine catalyst will be cast automatically cast, but I don't know why my character doesn't cast automatically divine catalyst often.
It’s because you haven’t converted the healing hands to ward yet. It only casts divine bolts if it heals you. If you convert healing hands to ward healing, it will always count as healing you. Make sure you have a drain health mod on your gloves to do the conversion.
I do like 2-3 times the single target with smite. When you get to high corruptions single target is really nice. I’ve watched videos of people using just divine bolt and spear and it’s pretty rough sadly.
Correct me if I'm wrong but just a little oversight I noticed while looking through your loot filter: the "End game Belt" and "End Game Relic" rule have character level dependency set (same level range as their respective previous rule). May want to fix this as people could be missing out on loot!
First of all, thanks for the build! Tell me, what should I focus on now? I have 62 lvl. Do I need to reach level 100 first, and then farm all these things? Or do it at the same time? Or should I focus on gaining experience and, for example, runes and glyphs now? Just farm monoliths? Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm new to this game xD
No, this character requires no uniques and only requires 5 passive points in the Paladin passives to get going. You can level this character from there. If I made guides and didnt expect questions, I would be the stupid one so dont worry about it.
Hey, the loot filter doesn't seem to work for me. It's something I'm doing but I copy and paste it. Once I delete the lower ones to make it strict, it acts as though I haven't got a loot filter and everything is unhidden. Any ideas? Great guide and build. SUPER fun! Thanks for the upload
love your builds btw...but this is one isnt working exactly like your video for me. Divine bolt rarely cast when i use healing hands. i have the passive points exact and the skills but Divine bolt rarely cast. so im little confused how you get it to cast all the time. i do have the gear too.
This looks fun! Is there also like a starter build / guide for the gear when I just get into leveling this guy... and have none of the stuff required or only 0lp versions?
i might´ve missed it, but the amount of generated ward is mainly determined by the healing effectiveness? im currently at around 800% but im only able to generate like 4k ward while having 2.5k life.
They wouldn’t really give you anything other than less crit damage taken. The damage on the build is crit and not ignite. Could be a budget option though.
@@pinchingloaf I was going to ask you the same, because I don't have Yulia's boots yet and I just found the dragon shoes. They actually do seem to do more than just the crit avoid. The fire damage of course, but the fire penetration on ignite seems to work too, but maybe that's because I have extra chance to ignite on my amulet and wand, and of the % from smite nodes (157% chance total). But like you already said, seems a pretty decent budget option until u get Yulia boots with LP
I have a quick question. For this new version of the build, is it better to get a higher tier experimental affix on the gloves, or the lowest possible one?
@@TheInverseableoh right, and in the build planned they are T6 because that signifies the order of importance of afixes you should get, rather than the actual tier. Thanks!
Much much better build than the previous one. I may propose an alternative to the gloves for the ward. I am using the "last step of the living" unique boots. i am reaching + 20 K wards with this. What do you think?
Another downside with the Prismatic Gaze is that the orbiting Prism Shards will never be triggered as none of the skills cost more than 40 mana. Not a biggie, but a little annoying.
I have a question and haven't found an answer to it yet: Can a boss kill prophecy that matches a particular boss-specific item type trigger more chances to get that boss-specific drop? For example, if I have a "Kill Boss" prophecy for a unique relic x4, and go kill Emperor of Corpses in Reign of Dragons, will the prophecy give me extra chances to get a Twisted Heart to drop?
AFAIK prophecies only relate to non-boss drop uniques (or other items). Or in other words, you can't manipulate boss drop rates via prophecies, only items that are random world drops. I mean, there is a slight chance that I'm wrong and you can test it yourself, but I'm almost sure it won't increase your chance.
@@pinchingloafThanks for the clarification. Almost a relief, in a way. So the grind for a Twisted Heart with LP absolutely must be as painful and long as possible. Lol
I"m fairly new to this game. I'm casting my healing hands and occasionally i will get bolts to go off but its not very often. what am i doing wrong? I have the homeward and divine catalyst on the healing hands tree
Nope, they are not close in power. Soul fire gives you WAY more damage and it also gives more defenses. There is a massive difference when a stat says %damage vs more spell damage.
All my gear is 1-2lp in the video and I just got the slam on my gloves so I only have like 200% cold res. You can hit over 100k ward with a proper set up.
Seems like someone took some inspiration from Iva Markova :). I am playing her divine bold built and it's amazing, even when it comes to bosses. But this build also seems to work well, especially for a bit faster boss clearing.
Oh yeah I gave them props in the first couple minutes of the video and linked them in the description. Perfect addition to round of my builds aoe clear.
Really wish there was an actual viable Sword(Hammer/Mace) and Board build for either a Holy Fire or Healing Hands Pally. The concept is ruined in my mind when the Pally is carrying around a wand, or worse, a ladle.
@@johnfranklin6707 Each has their cons and pros. The rive def feels more fun and melee, it also has stronger attack power but it has a fatal flaw. Between packs your ward falls right off. This divine bolt maintains ward perm without needing to hit mobs. Also the ward is higher almost twice my rive hh and falls much slower.
There has to be an enemy in range to proc divine bolt, you have so many thing healing you with massive healing effectiveness your health should always be full.
You should really watch the video my guy before criticizing. All my gear is 1-2lp and as soon as I start talking about uniques I explain that I use 4LP items to show priority of stats to slam. T6 means the highest priority and it goes down from there. Hope that helps clarify.
@@pinchingloaf thanks mate, just one more question slamming the experimental affix on the unique gloves. Do I just need a pair with the ward affix and pray it hits? I didn't know you could slam experimental drops. For example I have 1LP unique gloves with another pair of gloves with 3 affixes including the health drain/ward affix. So just go slam it and hope the 1 in 3 hits?
Nope. This is a crit build so you would lose 6% base crit. By default, you have 5% base so an offhand more than doubles the amount of crit you get from all sources.
Exactly what counter said. You just hold healing hands down and it auto cast divine bolt at enemies. You have to take the divine bolt nodes in the healing hands tree first though.
I highly recommend watching these videos in their entirety.
Appreciate these in-depth and well-done guides. ❤
I'll go and watch the rest of them.

question about the scales of eterra, how come ever build i see for sentinel is using cold+electric instead of fire+electric?

Aoe clear comes from divine bolts which is from cast healing hands and single target is smite
Appreciate the updated version to this build, but just wondering why exsanguinous was not considered in favour of an experimental slam glove?
Your chest piece is the highest amount per stat so it’s a massive waste both offensively and defensively to put it on your chest piece.

The fire damage of course, but the fire penetration on ignite seems to work too, but maybe that's because I have extra chance to ignite on my amulet and wand, and of the % from smite nodes (157% chance total). But like you already said, seems a pretty decent budget option until u get Yulia boots with LP
could u advise what is the necessary legend item for this mechanism??? I am totally new 😂 and quite difficult to catch all since my english is poor..
You don’t need any of the unique items to get started.
Hey man, great build. I want to level a paladin myself .. but I can’t find a good leveling build for a paladin.. any recommendations?
Look at my original build and use the leveling planner. Easiest character I ever leveled. The first 10 or so minutes tells you how to level too.
Why i only get wards and no health from healing hand and smite with the 5 % gloves since 1.1 ?
I have a quick question. For this new version of the build, is it better to get a higher tier experimental affix on the gloves, or the lowest possible one?
Lowest the higher tiers have more hp drain for very little gain.
@@TheInverseableoh right, and in the build planned they are T6 because that signifies the order of importance of afixes you should get, rather than the actual tier. Thanks!
Exactly!
Much much better build than the previous one. I may propose an alternative to the gloves for the ward. I am using the "last step of the living" unique boots. i am reaching + 20 K wards with this. What do you think?
You can use that as a budget set up until you can slam the drain on the gloves but you would lose so much res and healing effectiveness.
Hi I love the video!
Does the tier of experimental affix on gloves matter?
Not really. It’s better for it to be a lower tier but makes almost no difference.
Also do you think Smite > Judgment Aura for bosses?
I think smite is probably better single target.
Hello mate, seem to be getting a lot of "Fire Overload" which reduces my damage by 80%, anything you can of that ive done wrong? cheers
Yes, you need to make sure your offhand is cold and lightning not fire.
Is it still okey to use uniques without any lp untill i find them or its better with exalted items? I have everyhing except off hand relic
Yes, none of them really require lp except it’s probably better to use a exalted wand with cast speed over the ladle until you get a lp one.
Another downside with the Prismatic Gaze is that the orbiting Prism Shards will never be triggered as none of the skills cost more than 40 mana. Not a biggie, but a little annoying.
You can trigger them if you set up sigils like the original build I posted I just found this to be better.
What are your thoughts on judgement vs smite?
Correct. Prophecies do not influence boss drops in any way. It will only give you random drop relics and never a twisted heart.
I have the homeward and divine catalyst on the healing hands tree

you have to have the missing life glove thing for it to work wont work if you are full life
Can you target yourself while playing with a controller 🎮?
This is probably the best controller skill because healing hands auto targets yourself and the divine bolts auto aims at enemies.
Isn’t ashes of orchirian better then Soulfire?
Nope, they are not close in power. Soul fire gives you WAY more damage and it also gives more defenses. There is a massive difference when a stat says %damage vs more spell damage.
@@pinchingloaf thanks for the response
how much ward and dmg you can get with items lp1-2, not full gear?
All my gear is 1-2lp in the video and I just got the slam on my gloves so I only have like 200% cold res. You can hit over 100k ward with a proper set up.
Seems like someone took some inspiration from Iva Markova :). I am playing her divine bold built and it's amazing, even when it comes to bosses. But this build also seems to work well, especially for a bit faster boss clearing.
Oh yeah I gave them props in the first couple minutes of the video and linked them in the description. Perfect addition to round of my builds aoe clear.
@@pinchingloafGood stuff, keep up the good work!
@@pinchingloaf What gives higher single target boss damage though? smite spam shown here or judgement dots ?
Really wish there was an actual viable Sword(Hammer/Mace) and Board build for either a Holy Fire or Healing Hands Pally. The concept is ruined in my mind when the Pally is carrying around a wand, or worse, a ladle.
check out rive healing hands paladin
Yeah you can play river like counter said or turn healing hands to a melee skill.
Use rive to proc healing hands it’s a lot of fun to play and really strong build
@@johnfranklin6707 Each has their cons and pros. The rive def feels more fun and melee, it also has stronger attack power but it has a fatal flaw. Between packs your ward falls right off. This divine bolt maintains ward perm without needing to hit mobs. Also the ward is higher almost twice my rive hh and falls much slower.
why is my health full? lightning bolt sometimes dont proc, what am i missing? lol
There has to be an enemy in range to proc divine bolt, you have so many thing healing you with massive healing effectiveness your health should always be full.
Can you please confirm ignite chance should only be kept around 100?
Yes, I don’t scale ignite damage at all and you only care about have 1 stack on the enemy.
Thanks
This has changed my gear set ( I was following the wiki and it said ignite could stack , 200% = 2 ignite per hit)
Hi!! amazing job!! Tnx a lot! Tell me plz is matter to get more than 100% reduced extra damage from crit? i see on the gear you get more than 100%
it is not important to go over 100
No there is not. I put the legendary affixes in term of priority based on tier but those stats still give you a lot of armor.
About what level can i start this build?
Watch the original build guide I liked and it has leveling planners.
"My gear is terribly optimized"
- every content creator showing multiple 4LP items in a build
You should really watch the video my guy before criticizing. All my gear is 1-2lp and as soon as I start talking about uniques I explain that I use 4LP items to show priority of stats to slam. T6 means the highest priority and it goes down from there. Hope that helps clarify.
Why does some damage bypass my wards ?
can i only shoot divine bolts with healing hands when i take damage? please help
You need the drain effect on your gloves so that way it’s always healing you by giving you ward I stead of health.
Hi, how do you move fast without a movement skill?
I use an unspecced lunge while doing echoes.
idk if you remember but i asked you on stream a couple days ago if mad alchemist ladle would be good and u said no but i knew it would work well
Yeah I did testing and it really only comes out on top with like 2-3 lp. It’s pretty close though.
Nice build. Maybe sure LE will buff pally damage just abit :)
Hope so!
I have everything besides the gloves (I have the ward building gloves) and no scales but I'm generating way lower ward than you, not sure why
The gloves are the main thing giving him ward retention. That allows him to build up a big ward buffer all the time.
I was getting 30k ward without the gloves. I have like no cold res at the moment lol. It’s mostly healing effectiveness. I’m above 1k
Can eterra be swapped to Rahyeh?
Nope. This is a crit build so you would lose 6% base crit. By default, you have 5% base so an offhand more than doubles the amount of crit you get from all sources.
why does my smite still does little damage
My smite is doing over a mil on the dummies. Should be doing good damage if you have most of the stats on gear.
Is fire damage better than spell damage? Or is it the same
Idk why my damage is rarely 10k usually around 5K at 200 corruption😢😢
@@Rplay-nf6xm yea spell damage is the same as fire damage. What’s your crit chance at?
i cant understand how you cast divine bolt. maybe im just stupid or missing something but im going crazy here haha
you hold down healing hands to cast
Exactly what counter said. You just hold healing hands down and it auto cast divine bolt at enemies. You have to take the divine bolt nodes in the healing hands tree first though.
why not 2 ashes of mortality?
If you have 2 4LP ashes sure why not. You need res somewhere though since almost every piece is a unique.
I play a version near your first one and tried this also. Your old one is stronger….
The old one has slightly higher single target but this version is much easier to play and much safer at higher corruption.
They need to fix that Energy shield shit, having 30k shield is ridicilous and make whole game look like a joke
They did lol. Big nerfs this upcoming patch.
