      Wow me as well. I held my breathe until the spike thing was completed. When the guy that swerved and hit the spikes, I thought the Officer was screwed as far as spiking the intended vehicle. Spikes were successful for the intended vehicle. At least the guy that hit the spikes was so nice. He and the Officer were laughing about it and just taking care of business together. Bless the innocent driver and the Officer that did a great job.❤❤❤

    My intro to Trooper Justin. I like this man. Exciting spikes for him and a satisfying contribution to the capture. Good job ... I appreciate his focus, laughter, and immediate service to the fella's collateral damage. In the early car's defense re: "get the @$! out of the way" - trooper's lites weren't yet on, so they wouldn't know he was in a hurry. 😊 Please stay safe y'all.

      And that citizen who got spiked accidentally - took it on the chin / accepted his mistake (even though he got assistance and probably will be reimbursed). Got a lot of respect for him too....others would've just ranted, kicking and screaming, doing kids tantrum stuff on store aisle.....not this guy - smiles/laughs about it.

    As a owner of a several Sierra trucks, let me tell you that getting those spare tires off is a pain in the ass! Luckily for this gentleman, his truck is new. I live in the rustbelt, and after a few years those mechanisms that hold the spare in seize up from road salt and debris. More than once I've had to cut the cable.... The owner of this truck handled the situation nicely with the trooper.

      That's why I'm thinking of mounting my spare in the bed. ( Siverado) Who wants to deal with that on the side of the road?. The spare mechanism on my wife's Trail Blazer rusted and wouldn't go back up so I took it off and cleaned all the rust and dirt out and repacked it with grease. Glad I found out in my back yard and fixed it.

      7:11 That tool driving the white GMC crossed the center line just to hit something he saw in the road. There was nothing that would have caused him to cross the center line. Massive fail. Even if what he said had happened, a competent driver would have used his breaks and maintained lane discipline, not swerved towards oncoming traffic. Massive fail. Way to represent Louisiana. Served him right. He had no reason to swerve left, as you can see at 7:11.

      Fords are the same too! I was lucky enough to get one that had 5 matching alloy rims and tires when I bought mine. I do a 5 tire rotation for that very reason. Nothing like getting a flat to find the mechanism seized up under the truck. First time was a pain getting that rod lined up to get the spare down.

      The "man" driving the nice big GMC, should have at least tried once in his driveway to make sure the mechanism holding his spare was functional, and how to use it properly, but I guess "men" take that s**t for granted and just roll until they can't any more. That crap is on him though, his excuse wasn't any good, the vehicles in front of and behind him were more than 200' from him, so "giving them more room" wasn't needed.

    • @defresurrection
      @defresurrection 11 місяців тому +2

      @Internutt 1960 plese don't second guess the citizen in this case. The man's explanation was plausible from his view at that time. Adrenaline was pumping from the guy and the Trooper. All ended well and I'm pretty sure ASP bought him a new tire. The one thing I noticed was when the Trooper was behind the guardrail, the line looked too short. I think maybe that issue may have factored in... but I wasn't there. Just good for thought.

      IF you have a vehicle with a spare tire stow like that, AND, you ever plan to use it, you need to #1, try it once, make sure you have all of the crank parts and it works, and #2 maintain / lubricate it at least once a year to be functional. If it doesn't work after that, then you can blame something else.

    🤠: My Brand new GIANT truck! I’ll never have a flat tire on the highway, so why bother familiarizing myself with ‘how to change a tire?’ 😂
    I taught driver’s Ed for years and this was something I covered for the students. They showed me they could change a flat on their car or mine, whichever was available. I did not want them in the narrow emergency lane of a highway in 100° or -20° any longer than necessary.

    Another thing for the owners of these kind of trucks that have never had to undo one of those spare tires... with your spare tire kits, you only need the two square pieces, not the piece with the little straight nub deal on the end of it. Those two pieces, and the lug wrench. That's true of most Chevy and GMC trucks from like 2000 and up. There was a time around like 2007-08 that they came up with a secondary latch-hook mechanism that you'd have to wrestle a prybar in there to undo the spare tire, and thank god they got rid of that. Just a friendly tip or two from a Roadside Assistance man that's changed plenty of those tires on the side of the road.

    ASP spike the GMC.
    And then ask for id and insurance.
    The best driver of the runners was the 17 yro she was giving them hell.
    She is a thug.
    I assume they catch the blue van driver.
