Lyrics:
I don't wanna be a soldier mama
I don't wanna die
Well
I don't wanna be a sailor mama
I don't wanna fly
Well
I don't wanna be a failure mama
I don't wanna cry
Well
I don't wanna be a soldier mama
I don't wanna die
Oh no
Well
I don't wanna be a rich man mama
I don't wanna cry
Well
I don't wanna be a poor man mama
I don't wanna fly
Well
I don't wanna be a lawyer mama
I don't wanna lie
Well
I don't wanna be a soldier mama
I don' wanna die
Oh no
Well
I don't wanna be a beggar mama
I don't wanna die
Well
I don't wanna be a thief now mama
I don't wanna fly
Well
I don't wanna be a church man mama
I don't wanna cry
Well
I don't wanna be a soldier mama
I don't wanna die
Oh no
#MadSeason #IDontWannaBeASoldier #Grunge
Mad Season has to be the best band no ones ever heard of.
EXACTLY
Dirty Mac? Idk but I'm glad to get to hear both!
I love grunge but it still took me a while to discover that Mad Season existed. I'd say Kyuss has that honour though.
My mum knows me too f.the Sm
Mad season is legend
John Lennon would've been very proud..... Explosive rendition......RIP Layne Staley.....You will be forever missed and remembered....🎤🔥👊💪🙏😞
Half this band is dead. Layne wasn't the only genius involved here. Just sayin'.
@@therapist6328Baker and Layne... unless you count Lanegan too.
@@risenfromyoutubesashesagai6302 i do. He duets on the best song
That sax with distortion sound like somebody screaming in terror and that''s fucking amazing
It sounds like an elephant mating
Sherik killed it. Only in the 90s could we have had a sax solo with distortion and wahwah peddles.
Was a great time to be in my teens and early 20s
Bold sound, bold move!
Thank you Lord for all the bootleggers in the 90s! You captured history.
RIGHT?! Times have definitely changed. Guess we're them old fucks now. Lol
I agree. I love watching Layne!!
@@croftperkins yeah but we still out rockin these kids today
this wasn't bootlegged.. official release from mad season. on DVD.. get it! lol
Amen!❤ Have to get the DVD.
That guy on the sax is badass, he's playing multiple instruments on these videos and killing them all
that's Skerik and he is indeed a killer. here's a newer project of his with Charlie Hunter and Stanton Moore - ua-cam.com/video/Sy5-HT_Umng/v-deo.html
Every single musician on that stage killed at their respective instrument in this rendition. Amazing performance. Instant classic!
Certainly a banging performance
Barret absolutely killing the drums
This is the magic that happens when you live in a society that lets arts and artists thrive. Don’t ever give this away.Don’t ever let this die
A fucking men🎉
This magical one album band started at rehab and unfortunately ended at funerals.
Mad Season was one of the most complete bands ever. Imagine how great they could have been if things had turned out differently!
WHAT THE HELL THAT WAS INSANE!!!
This drummer is killing it !
@@murkyevening agreed
Barret Martin, drummer of the Screaming Trees
Whole band is kicking ass
A super group, McCready from Pearl Jam on the guitar, not sure about the bass player?
@@mslush47 John Baker Saunders. RIP
still rockin this in 23 in Niagara Falls Ontario!!!! Anyone else out there!
good god, I’ve never seen someone SHRED the sax like that holy shit
This is a great cover of a powerful Lennon song! Layne Staley’s voice is perfect for this song! Killed it!
Its good to know this wasnt his chosen lyrics....very repetitive....i kept thinking he could write much better than this
Lennon was great but someone got in the way of his ART
I’d say he pretty much asked John Lennon to hold his beer 🍺, because this is outstanding.
@@tlansing18 Sometimes simple and "repetitive" lyrics are meaningful too...
@@christophermcnamara5591 Like our man Layne, I think drugs were the biggest thing in the way of the art. Love them both though.
Every song this kid sang,he creates a mood which gives the track so much more ☘
Yeah, Cobain had the same effect, incidentally, also while singing a Lennon song.
KC not in same stratosphere vocally, but he certainly created magic as well. Cornell version of Imagine is pretty spectacular as well.
Cornell is overrated. There I said it.
@@lunatico981 LOL.
CC was a great singer IMO, but in their prime Layne was a monster live, few can sound better live than studio.
GOD AM live is menacingly good, as a matter of fact the few songs they performed off Tripod live, all superior to studio.
@@lunatico981 People often confuse “overrated” with “bad”. To you’re credit, you’re not saying he isn’t good or even talented, just that you feel he’s often considered much greater than you think he is. I respect that (even if I don’t exactly agree lol), and hopefully people don’t jump all over your comment because they can’t read it the right way.
The Sax 🎷 in a grunge song is impressive!
Beast, never heard sax like that , amaizing.
It had to be incredible to be at this show.
Man you ain't fuckin kiddin
I wish I lived then
A dream...
Awesome
It would be marked on my ❤ for infinity ♾. Rest easy my sweet angel.
That saxophone solo is just insane....
The whole band are fookin' genius! 🙏
He was playing through a distortion and wah pedal that guiter players use to get that sound.
Wait; are you my Nagy 23&me cousin from Michigan via Bridgeport and Hungary? If so, we share the same gene for loving excellent music. I’ll be seeing AIC in Syracuse next month
@@trisharivers5588 Hey Trisha! I'm sorry, but unfortunately I'm not your cousin at least I don't know of any relatives in Michigan, but regardless, it's very interesting...and apart from genes, we also share the same loving excellent music! ;)
I wish you have a really good time and that Layne's spirit travels through the concert! All the best my soul mate ☺️ Cheers from Hungary!
✌🏻&💜
His voice is love, peace, sweetness, beauty, darkness and so special🖤🖤🖤
this has got to be the most insane shit ever lmao!! idk how people aren't jamming this from the rooftops. fill the cities with this!!
There will never be another Layne
Got thatright!
Barret a monster on the drums. Sax killing it. Mike McReady laying down a line. Bass perfect. And Layne...song was made for him. Will never hear "oh no" sang any better........
Skerik killing that sax! Love it!
incredible
who is the sax player? Fucking incredible
@@kathykear3025 Skerik is his name if I understand you right, very unique style to my untrained eyes!!!
🤟🤟🤟
Lennon wrote it, Mad Season perfected it!
Vinyl Diary666 yes
Absolutely!! Damn it Layne!
...did'nt even know Lennon wrote it...don't even care (haha)
THIS'LL BE MY VERSION. FOR.EVER. 🌼
*frickin' awesome!
Read my comment above..if you can listen to.John's version again and think about what was going on in the world at that time..incredible anti war / anti capitalist message x
lmao i always see you around
Man do I wish I caught that show!!! I lived about 45 minutes north of there. It was so long ago I can't remember why I couldn't go. I'm sure I had to work that night. Seattle had some of the best shows. Grunge bands in small venues. That whole place was blowing the 80's away like a BOSS!!
Cig in one hand an mic in the other. Classic Layne!!!
And Lennon always had chewing gum in his mouth when he sang.
He makes it look easy
Yah ..gloves covering his 'tiny holes'...and the glasses... I worship his Dirty Angel appeal...come back!
Smokes and still has stronger lungs than the man playing the saxophone
_ there is one concert that you would like to have seen live in your life???
___ YES. THIS ONE.
I go down rabbit holes thinking about Layne Staley and Mad Season. Can you imagine the music they would have produced if circumstances were different? Such amazing talent in this group.
I went down a Mike mccready rabbit hole damn good
This drummer is about the closest I've heard to bringing that same groove feel that Bonham had
That a is precious frame of time captured here! May the gentle souls of Lennon, Staley, Kobein, Cornell... all rest in peace...The music will never be the same.
Whatever he sings is turn into magic.. Layne forever 🤘
Best live performance cover of all time. You could set your watch to this endless riff.
Saxophone guy is amazing
Sick sax work!!!! I found this because I seek out all performances and stories with Layne. He was an angel, so gifted, so deep, so needed to be heard.
That sax solo is insane! So Fuc*** good!
This version will forever be my favorite! Layne just fucking killed it just like that sax. Damn. I wish he wasn't gone😪
Layne is so on point when to come in absolute genius 👏
IKR, this song has such a hard timing for singing
Layne is just the GOAT - highly underrated
Think some have forgotten Layne was real. Good lord this hits so hard even in 2021.🤘🎷🥁🎸
In 22’ and beyond
@@stmn346 yup
2023 nothing better yet
Fucking killer
2023
Whoever gave this song a thumbs down wouldn't know good music if it smacked them upside the head
They probably like country music
Right???
Wow! Where has this been all my life?
Glad you found it ..Thus band is unbelievable..Crank it.
Real tight band, amazing writing, amazing musicians and Staley is fucking killing it!
Killer jam session! That sax solo was incredible. \m/
It was a gig but a badass one
Skerik on the sax
Saxo player's performance for this song is supernatural... Awesome...
I can’t believe I’ve never heard this song before wtf!!??
I’ll be honest, (as if I never am). Don’t know how Barrett is with the screaming trees. But in mad season. He kills it every time, no lie
Loving these new released videos!!! I love layne anyway I can get him!!! Beautiful man!!
My favorite singer!!!!
Mine too😊
🥇
perfectingodseyes masters This is amazing, Layne sounds awesome.

I didn't know mad season did a cover of this song. Sorry John, I love this version so much
I never knew about this song back in '95. What a hidden treat to find it 20 years later!
the SAX !!!!!!!
If you can’t dig this band or see the immense talent of Layne you need to just hang it up.. I will love Layne forever and miss him endlessly…..
Layne and Lennon - Legends.
That was the best Sax ever!!!
Yes
pure sex!
Skerik killin it
Perfect vocals by Layne, man.
Mike McCready, thank u!
Killer combo of talent. Drums, guitar, trumpet , vocals - insane.
Best drummer I could watch him play all night! This song is so damn 🔥
They are all killing it from 6:45 onward, wow, after all these years, one of the best live unknown performances
From about 4:00 on
The Sax play like a chainsaw🤟
I also am loving all the new videos of Layne!!! Incredible voice forever!
Layne was the greatest singer i ever heard. So r.ip peace
I'd gladly pay to watch Martin play the drums if I was deaf. You can see the skill and rhythm. Genius.
I normally don't like saxophone but the man's totally rockin' it! Bravo!
RIP Layne, we love you and your so very missed!!! Beautiful and talented soul🌹💋🌹💋🌹💋🌹💋
I love the drums
I was’nt aware Staley did this number too at The Moore’s. The sound quality is so very fine, just like the studio version. Well, whatever, got to watch another great piece of music by the man. Layne is love. ❤️
John Baker Saunders was one hell of a bassist!
He sure was mate R.I.P. ❤
Yess a great bass player RIP Saunders 😇🤘❤️
The whole band is amazing as he'll..
Sure was 💉
The 90's were a great time for music and freedom. So many great albums from every genre. Above is easily in the top 3 albums of that decade.
All killer no filler.
Layne will always be legend
Layne the Legend!
This a true masterpiece! ⚰️🔫 This is by far one of the best covers of any song I have ever heard. One-of-a-kind freestyle 🎷 🔊 performance! ✊🏻
I like the original but this is way better
the sax was fucking shredding it... kids these days have no idea how awesome crazy music was in us old folks' time
In my opinion Mad Season and AIC are a lot better than Nirvana.
Layne had one of the best voices in the world and the musicians are so awesome. It doesn't get any better!
It's a shame that I couldn't experience the wonderful concerts live. I miss Layne so much, but luckily we have great memories of him through the wonderful music.Thank you Mad Season and AIC!
R.I.P.Layne!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Skerik is a beast on the sax, great!! \m/
Monster saxo!!! Amazinggg sound👍🎶
Such a rock star. I must say that of all the grunge front men, Layne had the best hair. He had a ton of it and it grew fast. He always had a different hair-do. This mop top look was one of my faves.
Oh what an immense surprise and blessing to watch finally those unreleased songs from the live at the Moore, and this one... wow it's outstanding! How couldn't it feature with Wake Up in the original video tape?!!! Uncountable thanks to the person who filmed these from the balcony :)) and to (probably) Mike and Barett who released it!
Always wondered why "Wake Up" wasn't on the VHS release. Since the Deluxe Edition of the Above album was released, it has the live performance from the Moore show of that song. In it, Layne forgets a part of the lyrics. I think back then for a commercial release there was more pressure to have things be flawless or close to it. But I'm just guessing.
I had no idea about this song! Oh my lord have mercy! Love it!
That sax is INCREDIBLE
Layne lives!
They look like they are having so much fun. Each a master of their craft/instrument.
Thank you!!! My favorite ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Layne is such a doll singing this!!! I love this 💕💕💕💌💌💌💋💋🌟🌈🌟🌈🌟🌈
Linkin Park Fan 72 same here
Amazing cover 🤘❤🔥
Layne's voice sounds incredibly perfect & powerful 🌟💖🌟
Mad season absolute perfection
Great John Lennon song. Mad Season tore it up!!! FUCKING AWESOME!!!
I just starting listening to mad season w Layne...I absolutely love this band!! Smooth !!
Across the stage absolutely killed it
Jack of all trades and master of all kickin' it out there on the el saxophone.
I think that his time with mad season was the very best time for him he was truly free he had to grow up and he did
The drummer is kickin some major ass!!
If Lennon could have heard this... Layne's like having 4 extra musicians on stage.. he's like 2 more bassists and 2 more rhythm/lead guitarists inside his angst, and being, that come out thru his vocal chord's.
Great recording! Just fucking cranks on my stereo! Beautiful human beings!
Insane sax for god sake
Love the Saxsolo!
3:49 the way layne picked up the melody of that sax is uff!! 🤘
THANK YOU! Love new Layne, always.
Damn, I just love how skerik is torturing the hell out of his sax ❤️
Yessss fantastic sax playing!! I love the sax. 🎷
Amazing!!! Great band!!!
Drummer is working real hard...
Prakash--I would say he is working too hard, especially since he is well ahead of everyone else, in fact, so much that he looks to trail behind==not good...I cant tell if he is too fast or two slow. Either way, the conclusion is one and the same.
@@rosekittygraykittyjackkitt9676 Damn Right..!!😊
check
check
The distortion on the sax sounds like a whole new instrument... Pretty cool!
The one and only grunge saxophone!
Fabulous and haunting. Oh layne, why did you do that to you? How could you sing like that and be so junkie 😢😢 pure talent❤
