Pretty impressive this multi recording function over a looping section but I gotta tell you I'm having some IOS newbie consternation with the concept of "sections". I've watched your videos dealing with "sections" and they're very helpful but when I'm composing (I use that term loosely) I just want one long track to see what fits and what doesn't. You have a video dealing with all that, so now I need to get comfortable with the mechanics of it. Ideally set up sections first but reality dictates otherwise.
I hear you! I create that way sometimes too so bookmark this little video of you want to convert your no sections project to sections after the fact. 👍
Pete Thank you soooooo much for this tip. It really means a lot. I didn’t know what to do when I tried to combine all sections to one. I got it now.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😢😢😢😢😢🙂🙂🙂 Really thank you 🙏
Hey there. You need to select an individual section. (Eg. Section B) and then when you okay back it will loop this section only. There’s unfortunately no way to loop a custom section outside of this method.
It does not work for iPhone ;(. The little wrench is not available;(. On the latest iOS version where can I find loop sections? I really hope you can help me Pete! Greets from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Videos like this are the reason why time stamps are important. All I wanted to know is how to loop a song or a section like in any other DAW, because I couldn’t find the loop button or how to select a part. I don’t like it when tutorials waste my time. This wasn’t helpful at all.
You seem nice. We should totally hang out! Thanks for taking the time to comment. More recent videos have improved but I know that doesn’t help you for this one. I am slowly working through older lore popular videos to improve them by editing down and adding chapters.
When I tap on sections all it says is the 1 section of the entire song. How do you create different sections? Also when tap add sections it takes me to a blank screen?
Hi Pete I put the a section in loop it worked and I have mixed my vocals and track but now I’m trying to get it back so that I can hear everything and and unloop it but it seems that it has shorten my track and vocals. Is there a way to unloop everything
Hey there. No, the playback will kits loop at the end. It once you export the song it will not. If you don’t want to hear it looked back, simply add some additional blank bars to the end of the project using an additional section. ua-cam.com/video/9mo2swwR9Yc/v-deo.html
Can you use this feature along with midi to trigger parts in a song. For example; You have midi foot controller like the Behringer FCB1010, and you are playing a song but want to do the chorus again, could you assign midi commands to trigger the different sections?
Hi Pete. Thanks for your videos! Can you set specific bars to cycle in garageband ios? IE I'm a rapper and I want to just repeat 8 bars of the hook section of the song (One MP3 track) so I can write to it?
Hey my friend. Yes, you can either use the method in this video to set an 8 bar section and it will play on loop, or you can just import an 8 bar loop and set your song at 80, 160, 240 bars and then loop out the loop, if that makes sense?
@@PeteJohnsMusic ok i'll have to get to know the sections a little more. When I import an mp3 track I set it to automatic so ito adjusts to the total length of the track. I have to work out how to indicate the sections at certain points of the track. My first attempts seem to add the section to the end. of the track. I was wondering if there was a simple cycle tool like on the mac version where you just drag the section over the bit you want to repeat. I'll study your videos and see if I can solve it :)
Yeah, a cycle option would be cool, but if you play around with the sections, you can just loop one section, and your original file can even cross over sections. Check out this video for some ideas that might help - ua-cam.com/video/qUW6mD5EdQw/v-deo.html
How do you put an end on your song or beat If you decide to loop one of your tracks? I find that if you loop just a track when it gets to the end it will start your whole song over again. Regardless if your other tracks aren’t looped. How to fix?
Hey there. That’s just the he way GarageBand plays back a song. When you export or share it, the exported file will just be the song from start to finish.

Hi Pete, I get it that the sections repeat themselves so why is there a LOOP command on each region, the sections repeat themselves regardless if this is selected or not.
Hey there. You can playback juts one section, or you can use the “Live Loops” function which I show in this video. ua-cam.com/video/x4oRFY8ERCI/v-deo.html

Multitake recording is brilliant! With your guidance, I broke my most recent recording into different sections. Never did that before but it will be standard operating procedure for now on. I got stuck at the end, how do I get back into the full song mode, instead of sections? Had to Google, oh yeah "All Tracks". Thanks, once again

Really nice video, thank you. QUESTION: How to loop specific adjoining sections like B+C, or E+F+G as an example?
Unfortunately this isn’t possible boo e in GarageBand iOS. It can only playback one section as a loop or the whole song.
Do you know if has any plug-in that takes sections into a pad on a virtual mixing that I can play between section?
