    I hope you feel better soon Uncle Tony! Coincidentally I have 13 project cars too! It is definitely a grind keeping up with all of them but apart from the Satellite I paid $1000 or less for each one. Here's a list for anyone reading comments that's curious. 68 Satellite 400 HP budget daily driver, 68 Coronet race car project with 6 point cage, 75 Valiant sedan 225 three on the tree, 72 Fury 3 coupe 400 towing package, 74 Trailduster, 73 Rustang, 75 F100 2wd, 79 F150 4x4, 86 GMC K5, 76 CJ5, 84 Trans Am, 79 Olds Cutlass factory V8 5 speed and a 62 Fairlane police car clone. They all run and drive except for the Fairlane (engine locked up), 79 F150 (haven't finished the engine swap), the Trailduster (transmission quit pulling) and the Coronet (quarters, rear axle and rear window are off for rust repairs). To be honest the Fury and the Cutlass won't go in reverse right now but I'm pretty close to putting another 5 speed in the Cutlass to solve that. I already pulled the trans, opened it up to confirm it was reverse gear and not the clutch and then put it all back together so it could still move forward while I'm looking for the right T5.

    The most I had at one time was 17 cars and trucks...mostly jeeps. Unfortunately the landlord didnt aprove, and gave me 30 days to find 12 of them new homes...i couldn't get rid of all 12 in the 30 days so I got a 30 day notice to leave. Fortunately 60 days was enough to downsize the fleet to a measly 3 vehicles, which was enough for a down payment on my new home! The fleet is back up to 7 and growing as fast as I can sneak them past my wife!! Thanks tony!

    Best explanation to this ever. I have been livin this everyday my whole life. First with lawn and garden tractors when I was 12 or 13 finding them from scrap or stuff I’ve currently amounted over 50 of them. Then went into rcs and still am pretty heavily. And also cars and truck. Specifically mostly pre 90’s fords. Mostly rangers. But broadening my path a little bit at a time. Always checking market place for good deals and wheeling and dealing other things that I have that don’t fit that pre 90’s era I like to stay in.

I have a bank of trickle chargers, but batteries still slip through the cracks.I have found that when your driveway is full and your garage is stuffed with spares, you mind just wanders from getting more cars to getting a house with more space.

      @bobroberts2371 4 роки тому

      It depends on what type of insurance one gets. Liability insurance is generally required to drive a car on the street and isn't too high. Collision / damage insurance is higher and many times not worth it on a 2nd car especially an older one that is $$$ to fix but not worth much.

    • @Beandiptheredneck
      @Beandiptheredneck 4 роки тому

      J Fizzy oh yes to regularly insure a classic for fire/theft/replacement in an accident is expensive if you go through normal insurance. That’s where the historic insurance comes in, it’s a lot cheaper but it’s also based on how you store it and drive it and how much as well

      My little Chevy small block in the Pick'em up truck. Bright Chevy Orange spotless clean. Chrome valve covers, timing chain cover, dipstick, alternator, tranny fluid filler tube and dipstick , and air cleaner. Oh damn forgot oil pan and wire looms and fan, I like a pretty engine. And if it spotless and clean I'm more inclined to work on it. If its leaking I know where.
      And the more the old man bitched about it. The more chrome I put on it. And since the old '75 C-20 was originally Dad's he bought new and I drove to high school yeah that long ago, when a $20 filled both sides. Even had though he's passed I am still putting chrome on it to piss him off. As for stickers, a total must for any vehicle. My '69 Chrysler Dart boat even has STP and an old hijacker's air shock sticker, Mopar stickers on the ass end next to the GTS badge.

    I have a Delorean as my daily driver and a Pantera as my weekend cruiser and both were bought from men who recently got married and had their first child. Doing the work yourself is a MUST on these types unless you are very fortunate to find a mech who likes a challenge and is willing to learn the unique systems these cars have. I am single doing good and cannot imagine keeping more than 2 running.

    Philosophical Uncle Tony is a pretty interesting Tony. Good job bringing "our" sickness to light. (Still going to look for an older car when driving thorough neighborhoods, maybe even step into a vintage camping trailer money pit). The problem isn't how many cars you can acquire, it's do I have enough land to park them all.

    Buy Low and sell High.
    Always by a car that somebody else would want. I had a real problem with cars. I limit myself to a pickup truck, a sports car, and a motorcycle. If a good fourth car comes along. And it's just too good a deal to resist, and the paper work is straight, pick it up and park it on the side. You can always cash out later.

    I took an ice tea bottle . Made a hole in the cap with my knife . It works great . It's heavy plastic so it will stand up to gas . I have ice tea bottles everywhere so one for gas & the rest for what ever water soapy water for leaks in tires tanks . My dad used spray bottles but gas eats the sprayer up . So now you can put a sticker on s water bottle & new product to sell 😆

    I downsized my fleet from 9 to 2 this year. My 72 fury wagon fits the need to go fast or haul stuff and my 71 beetle fits my need for a cheap to run daily. But the itch to get another 4x4 or just a faster daily is ever present. Sure I could hot rod the beetle but then k.i.s.s. is thrown right out the window.

    From 20 to 25, a $200 1969 Chevy Impala with a 327 V8 for 6 months, and a 650cc 2-cylinder Yamaha motorcycle for 6 months. A little rough when it was 35 degrees and raining. Now, I have a 2015 Mazda CX-5 daily driver and 2 motorcycles, an inline 4 with 90 horsepower for Saturdays, and a V-twin with 30 horsepower for Sundays. From 18 to 20 years old, a 1972 Plymouth Barracuda with a 318 V8 for 6 months, and the Chevy listed above for 6 months. I think Mazdas, Hyundais and Kias are a good deal new or used, because the older ones had a lot of problems so one 5 years old or less is a better deal. For older vehicles, see the Carsthatlast UA-cam videos.
