My opinion...duh We have the fantastic Super Star saga. We have the surprisingly dark Partners In Time. We have the amazing Bowser -In Time- Inside Story. We have the pretty good Dream Team. And we have the love it or hate it Paper Jam. AlphaDream, wherever you are, please make Mario and Luigi on on a RPG adventure again.
I want another Mario & Luigi... but I feel they should give it a rest for sometime. With Paper Jam and remakes I feel people got kind of tired of the formula, and need some time to improve it and explore new concepts to get a worthy successor.
companies are at least kind of starting to listen to fans with this kind of thing now. plenty of games still stay only in japan but from what i can tell most of the good games around especially published by nintendo come to the west too
Tomato Adventure looks great and the GBC game looked impressive as well. Mario and Luigi was such an amazingly well made and fun game, a real shame we didn't get the predecessor.
"Toh-may-toh, toh-mah-toh" indeed, lol I remember seeing screenshots of this in EGM years ago. Kinda forgot about it though... It does look like a fun game, regardless.
Same here, and I actually had a lot more fun playing that series than I did with "Super Mario RPG" on the SNES, so no offense to anyone who enjoyed that game.
Something I do feel need to mention is that tomato adventure is a VERY beginner friendly JRPG. It's nearly impossible to get lost in the game, even without knowledge of Japanese. Because the game is very expressive, it's easy to understand the first of what's going on in the game. However, if you still are having doubts, youtuber Torchickens made an entire walkthrough of the game in English. Edit: I just remembered the translations were in annotations, which don't exist anymore... Regardless, the description has detailed lists of events that occur in each episode.
I REALLY don't know why Mario & Luigi series videos don't get that many views. The series is phenomenal! It stands out from the rest of the Mario franchise. This series was a part of my core childhood as well.
gott say I love your guys channel very much glad I discovered ya back in 2012. I love how extremly creative you all became with the patreon finale latley they are humorus to watch n thats a good thing.
I've known of this game and even played it through years ago, since then I soooo wanted to see DeMille in Smash.... and then I saw that Spirit Mode trailer for SSBU where they showed DeMille right there, I was SO overjoyed he got some attention. Since then I've made a Mii Gunner and a Custom Stage based on the Toy Ruins.
I learned about this game when I was researching for the top 10 tomatoes in video games (surprisingly hard to narrow down, honestly) and have wanted it since. It's a shame it never came out here because it seems like a really fun time. I hope one day it gets a proper sequel or something.
@ 0:50 - Seriously, why didn't we get THIS commercial in America for that game? It looks so much cooler than anything American advertisers could spit out. :)
I am so freaking glad I bought this game before you guys made this video... Good luck to all the collectors they are trying to buy this game now. I can only imagine that the price will now skyrocket, and also the cheap ones are already purchased right now...
It seems like Alpha Dreams may have plans on a new game, on their japanese recruitment page, the icon for signing up as graphic designer is an all new artwork of DeMille and Pasaran in an all new artstyle, not only that, but DeMille's hat has flown off, revealing he has CAT ears under his Bunny hat.
It's a real shame that we never got this game because it looks like a lot of fun. I loved Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga so I get a feeling that this game is awesome too. Who knows maybe one day we could get a remake, although, if we don't get that then we'll at least get a fan translation as long as we remain patient.
That's not necessarily a bad thing ya know. Literally anything that does something novel is a "gimmick". The question we all should be asking is "is this a good gimmick?".
Those old GBC trading card games are super interesting. Koto Battle, SMT has one, Card Master I think is the other one? Not to forget the Pokemom TCG and if you have a NeoGeo Pocket color, the SNK vs Capcom card games.
Being a big fan of the M&L series, I'm surprised that I haven't heard about this game before. The gameplay isn't my favorite kind, but it'd still be interesting if AlphaDream revisited the franchise; I'm sure there are a lot out there that would like this more involved take on a TBS RPG.
I love the Mario & Luigi series (aside from PiT and BIS, which left me mixed), but I do wish Alpha Dream would make another RPG that isn't a Mario game for once.
I ain't gonna change your mind. I've only played the 3DS games and remakes. So Dream Team, Paper Jam and BiS. And out of those three, BiS was the best.
I think this is the most coverage this gem has ever had
Sadness...
Japan only RPG's: *exists*
Clyde Mandelin: This looks like a job for me
Tomato is a blessing to this world
7:49 "Tomato Adventure came to *_fruition"_*
I see what you did there
I like how you say this game is geared towards younger children then spend over half the video explaining the game's mechanics.
My god you weren’t joking. It’s so complicated

Well I can say without a doubt that Tomato Adventure now has a full English patch. I have started playing it recently.
Is it fun?
Fans "Hey we want this!"
Company "Nah we think you want this instead"
Fans "Huh no we don't"
Company "Hmm i wonder why this didn't sell"
o.o
companies are at least kind of starting to listen to fans with this kind of thing now. plenty of games still stay only in japan but from what i can tell most of the good games around especially published by nintendo come to the west too
Wow this actually makes me sad, I would have loved this as a kid, I hope I can get a chance to play it one day
THE FUTURE IS NOW
IT GOT A FAN TRANSLATION THIS YEAR
Maybe it will be on NSO
Tomato Adventure looks great and the GBC game looked impressive as well. Mario and Luigi was such an amazingly well made and fun game, a real shame we didn't get the predecessor.
Have a Superstar style game for Wario and Waluigi is my dream, it would be the most epic "Mario" RPG.
.....okay now I want a Western release of Tomato Adventure.
Thanks, DidYouKnowGaming

Tomato Adventure honestly sounds like a very Bizarre Adventure
IS THAT A MOTHER *family friendly* JOJO REFERENCE?!
Xeno Best X WHIOOOOOOOOAH A FOOLIN JIMJIM REFEREANFNAE
You fuck that was clever.
Cute jojo reference and chara pfp
Does a full translation patch of this game exist yet? Really want to play this piece of M&L history.
Agree
I'm still waiting for a full translation of the Rosario+Vampire games, and the first 4 Sakura Wars games
Unfortunately not yet, but there is a set of tools someone left out to download for those willing to put in the major work to translate it.
Good news
It does now! :)
The protagonist look like Woodstock from peanuts comic cosplaying as sportacus
T A M A T O
You should call the whole thing off.
I would love to see Alphadream make an original RPG again.
Or another Mario RPG would be cool too.
I would love to another Nintendo/SquareEnix collaboration. It doesn't even have to be a Mario rpg title.
@@argentandroid5732 I'd take Mario Sports Mix Deluxe at this point
Bowsers Inside Story is the still the best installment to this day, and among my favorite games ever made.
I love the Mario and Luigi series!
Same here, and I actually had a lot more fun playing that series than I did with "Super Mario RPG" on the SNES, so no offense to anyone who enjoyed that game.
This plot is quite... bizarre.
True that!
Heya Justin
Yeah
I wish someday Tomato Adventure and Mother 3 could receive official translations
anyway thanks to all those who translate games that are japan only
And here I thought the Kingdom Heart''s plot is kind of confusing.
it is
Justin Y. No, all you have to do is find some ingredients in some good place.
this plot can only be understood if you have an IQ of 1000
you guys should really do one of these on the “Luminous Arc” franchise that good shit is criminally underrated

It would be cool to if they made a new Paper Mario game based on Luigi's story from TTYD. Super Luigi Series!
I would have loved this game as a child, and still kinda wanna play it. Thanks for covering it!
DYKG on weekends are the best. Keep it up guys 👍

7:24 Yo, is that Vinny
2 years later, this game got a fan translation
DYKG: Hey wanna play a sports game?
Me: What did you have in mind?
DYKG: Mario Kart 64.

It's not a leak. It's a fan translation.
@@Zero3K6 There's also a fan translation for Gimmick Land, the leaked GBC prototype that was just released today.
Came here after the crushing news about Alpha Dream's bankruptcy. R.I.P.
First heard about the game back in 2010 and boy was I creeped out by it
Mario & Luigi is one of my favourite series ever, glad to see it and it’s company getting more love
I really like how ya'll present your patrons' names
The Tomato Dream opening made me hungry
Tomato Adventure uses some of the same elements as Mario & Luigi like the crab enemy as usual, collecting six elements and much more
thank you for talking about this game
I hope this gets fully translated some day. I'd love to play it!

A land of tomato lovers ruled by a guy who kidnaps women in order to power a machine to turn people into toys.
Well alright then.
What else do you expect from Japan? Maybe this randomness was why it wasn't released outside Japan.
I love Alpha Dream’s work. I would be great if we saw this in the West one day or if we see them working on a switch title.
Oh my god. The entire plot of that game seems so convoluted, it's nuts!
This game looks pretty fun. Japan gets all the cool stuff.
Toy-matoes 🍅
I love your videos and I cracked up in this one 😂

The virgin mushroom kingdom vs the chad ketchup kingdom
Holy crap this looks amazing.
The chances of this getting a sequel are now exactly 0, rip AlphaDream
Literally playing superstar saga when I saw this in my sub box
I wouldn’t mind a Paper Mario game that returns to form even if it used established characters?
There's nes game "Banana prince", which had tomato king boss on one of the stages
I love this show
