Speechie Peachy ... Maybe it's the reverse? One or the other. Anyway, she is a speech therapist who really breaks down how to make certain sounds in English. She will even show you exactly where the tongue goes or how the throat is positioned. This is really great for students who are trying to make an English sound that does not exist in the native language they have. I have used this 100 times for East Asian students who don't have L at the end of words. It has helped many students stop substituting w or r.
Thank you! I applied yesterday with Cambly, I just got accepted today! I am a retired American teacher living in Sydney, Australia, but I missed teaching, so I thought I'd give this a try. I am still waiting for my application to be reviewed for Cambly Kids, though. Some of these sites I know about from teaching in the USA, but some are new, so I really appreciate you making this video!
This was a well done video and I've been an ESL Teacher for 14 years and I learnt a lot from you. I am also very keen on using videos and activities for my students, so I understood when you said you love using such 'cause it's a great way to have students hear another voice and accent. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge! 🤩
Thank you so much for this information. My absolute resource is Unite for Literacy. My kids love to read free books. I do this at the end of my classes and the kids can't wait.
These are awesome! Thank you! I have a question. How do you open the one about games on the platform? Do you ask them to open a new tab, or do you do it directly on the cambly platform? Im wondering how the can interact with it. Thanks.
Hi everyone! So, depending on what the activity is, some things you'll need to assist your student with by asking questions and helping them complete activities. For others, share your whole screen and be sure to share audio. If you need more tips, please check out Joel's video here: ua-cam.com/video/qLSHE6VYrZ4/v-deo.html 😀 If you're showing an activity where your student needs to circle an answer, for example, ask them which one they choose so that you can perform that action. You may also want to share the link you are using for game pages so that you both can complete activities at the same time (although perhaps best for older CK students) Have fun! 😀
Hi there, it really depends on which resource you are using. Stories/articles are great with screen share--sometimes games are easier if you share the link with students (as they cannot "draw" on your screen, for example) It's really up to you and what works best within your classes 😀
extreme helpful and you got straight to the point with not much blabber (if you did they were funny enough not to notice because I was too busy laughing)🤗 Thankyou again for this video, I really appreciate you!
Thank you so much for these resources! I am starting next Wednesday as a ESL tutor for adults, and I'm sure I will be able to make great use of all of these.
Also, I just want to say thank you. I got hired on by Cambly months ago but I not taught yet because I am terrified of not knowing how to use the classroom and unfortunately I don't see any way to do a practice round with a teacher So I can be comfortable using the classroom. This helps me be a little less terrified
Hi and welcome! There are a few things that could help you become a bit more comfortable. First, every tutor receives free student minutes so they can call another tutor. Ask questions, get advice, have a look around! Second, tutors can enter the new classroom a few minutes early if they wish, just to get an idea of the layout and controls. This really helps with our confidence level before a student arrives. Third, although some features have been updated since this video was released, it should give you an idea of what to expect: ua-cam.com/video/KRSIVmld5H0/v-deo.html I hope this helps and we're always here if you need a hand. Happy tutoring!
Cambly has just added an option to explore the classroom for new teachers. However just go for it. I figured it out a long the way. Just do so with confidence and you will be fine
@@CamblyTutors after cambly reviews the demo and they wanted more from it will the prospective tutor be informed about this or them will just say it's a fail right away
Thanks so much for this. I'm looking for resources for my lessons. Do you know any websites which provide a package of readymade lessons? For example - a series of ten presentations for IELTS, each presentation building on the last?
Hi! Are you a member of our FB group? Some of the tutors there may have materials they can share with you. There is also test prep material in the Cambly Library which may help 😀

Hello thank you so much for your videos. If I may could you please tell me if there are any certifications I can get before joining Cambly as a tutor? I don't mind paying and want to brush up on my English skills. Thank you.
Hi there! Although it's not required, some of our tutors take a TEFL or TESOL course to prepare for tutoring English (these are often great for refreshing grammar knowledge.) Best of luck 🙂
Hi, I am a novice teacher. I'd appreciate it if anyone suggested to me what I can use to teach a communication class 7th grades. I want a specific book to use its lessons.
I've got a question on TEDTalks... don't you find they are way to long to make them into a class? I try to keep videos no longer than 15 minutes (and even that can take me 3 or 4 one-hour classes) and after a while they start losing interest.
We agree that shorter videos are best. We also like encouraging students to watch what interests them and then have them tell tutors the details of the video/topic. It can really open up new vocabulary 🙂
HI , I am a new English teacher for Spain students who are intermediate in English and i lack materials and lesson plans. please can you refer me some? it will be really helpful.
Hi there, if you do not have an educator account, it's possible to get 1 free resource per day by using your email. If you do not want to do that, our tutors highly recommend www.uniteforliteracy.com!
@CamblyTutors I don't mind using my email but can you offer instructions on how to sign up for that resource? I don't see how to accomplish it on their site. Do I still go in under educator?
Hi there! Students can pay for lessons on Engoo, but anyone can access the daily news articles for free. 🙂 Try using this link: engoo.com/app/daily-news
Hello and congratulations of your TEFL achievement! There are many resources and tips out there (we love our blog post tutorblog.cambly.com/2021/11/17/how-to-be-an-effective-online-tutor/ and our video ua-cam.com/video/NjomfBhi7o8/v-deo.html) but sometimes you just have to dive in and get your feet wet. Hi Nicola, a student can't interact with a page just because we share it. If you're sharing a video, singalong page, etc...then the tips in the previous comment work well. If you're showing an activity where your student needs to circle an answer, for example, ask them which one they choose so that you can perform that action.
