Estonian military had some gunfights with mobsters n gangsters in the 90s Estonia. Were wild times where Soviet Russia had retreated and fallen appart.
I visited the Estonian Kaitseliit barracks in the early 2000s. Our host told us that three gangsters had came to the reception in early 90s and started demanding the property for their organization, or else...The on-duty officer had responded "sure, no problem, they'll just move away", pressed the alarm button, the ready squad rushed to the room and beat the gangsters to pulp. Later, when we were passing one of the horrible Soviet era prisons that Estonians had continued to use, our host cheerily commented that the three gangsters are still serving hard time in that jail.

I'm former Marine Infantry leaving active duty in 1977. I was a Corporal when I got off active duty at Camp Lejeune. I had a couple trainees that left the Rangers to join the Marines. Top notch. I made them squad leaders. Some years after I left the Corps I moved from Idaho to the Seattle area for an Industrial Maintenance training program and job. It didn't take long for me to decide that the gang and drug activity was not a place for me to raise kids so I packed up and went back to SW Idaho to a town that had been a quiet agriculture town that had been a great place.... in the1960's. It had turned into a place like Tacoma. This was1989. Most of the active gangs were Latino with ties to California and some in Texas. They all had ties to Mexico. There was drive by shootings weekly and sometimes more often. However the local Police Chief at the time was forward looking and was trying to implement the Community Policing and Neighborhood Watch Program. I knew none of the problem until I had bought my house and experienced theft and vandalism. I learned about Neighborhood Watch so I went out to organize my small part of the world and met with some small success. But there was still major problems in the area and the town in general. A large number at a Neighborhood Watch meeting was 12 people we had 60 to 80 with one nearly 100. We had to meet up at the National Guard Armory. The problem with the big meeting was trying to convince everyone that this was absolutely not a vigilance committee and we weren't going to hunt the gang members down and hang or shoot them on the spot. Many if not the most were WW2 combat veterans and all the old folks had lived through the Great Depression. They often were children of the later wagon train pioneers. Now many of these folks knew where the gang types lived and were were ready burn them out and violate their civil rights. I'm sure they would use bad words doing so. All this made the single police sargent kinda nervous. I had been TAD to the Military Police on Okinawa for a while and had experience talking to unruly crowds. Long story short the Gang types who honestly believed they had the locals buffaloed and didn't know that the reason some of them survived long enough to spend 20 years in prison was a few under paid and over worked small town cops and some grumpy old timers that decided they would go along with the US Constitution. The gangs are still here but much more organized, powerful, professional and very, very dangeous. Time will tell what the outcome will be. Rangers Lead the Way. Semper Fi.
The country has a serious case of cancer and it's so advanced I fear the whole thing is going to go down as a result. There are so many people of ill will that have gotten themselves into places of power. Whether it's The View or the late-night (TV) "funnymen" or the sick universities or the SOBs in government, it's all orchestrated by Satan ... and so if there's any chance to save the Republic it'll have to be a strong, wise, benevolent, iron-fisted Dictator to bring back the peace and sanity because this business of playing pattycake with these gazillions of vicious, lying devils is a joke! One huge advantage Conservatives have, besides The Lord Jesus being on our side, is that in the event that this boiling pot of frogs called decent Americans experience a sea change via a flashpoint, our guns *will be the difference* in cleaning this sewer up because -- THANKFULLY! -- Libs have an aversion to gun ownership!
I moved to Tacoma a couple years after this. The 90s was an interesting time to see the city reclaim their streets. Moved back about 15 years ago and joined the Washington guard. We won't take gangs taking over again. Hats off to the SSG.

When our neighborhood had several rapes and even a murder, we decided it was time to get out! Moved our family to Utah. Was the best decision of our lives!
I was stationed there at Fort Lewis, in 88. The Ranger battalion was my next door unit. Never heard of such operation. Left Lewis with orders to Korea.
I was stationed in California in 1990...USMC. On one one the bases, I was on base security for a couple of months. There was a whole squad of us on duty 24-7, and one of things we were told we were defending against was gangs. There was no gang action when I was on duty, but allegedly, Crips and Bloods would make appearnces.
Popo Medic is great. He's an actual Police officer (ex-Police Officer) so he has decent insight into these things compared to many UA-camrs covering these topics. He's also got a great sense of humour and seems pretty laidback - like if I was visiting the US and he had pulled me over in a traffic stop I feel like we would end up going for a bevvy or something rather than ending up down the nick ... although I guess that probably depended on how bad my driving was, lol.
I lived in Kent, WA in the early 80's ('82-'84). The big thing going on at that time was the Green River Killer situation. As a veteran myself (USN), I especially enjoyed how these gang members really had no idea whom they were dealing with.
This is great. The swisher sweet comment was about them buying cigars and unrolling them, adding Marijuana and rerolling them so they can smoke in the open and not be hassled

The Army *may have* _eventually_ settled on "Self-Defense," *but* the Army _charged_ *every* member of the Rangers who was present, every Ranger who _knew_ what was happening, *required every service member to surrender their personal weapons permanently,* and *did* use NJP against *all* of them!
I have to imagine that's pretty much what happened. I have to wonder how many gunshot wounds with a suspicious but vague history showed up at Harborview or Tacoma General over that day and the next. I wonder if anyone has looked, for the historical record. I can imagine the Army, State and local officials don't really want to know. The Army and State and local governments would have had ample reason to keep it quiet. It would have been fine with me if the Rangers had killed every last one of the damn gang-bangers, but military using lethal force against American civilians on American soil.......there would have been hell to pay if any non-gang-banger civilian even got scratched being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I could easily see the military saying self-defense to the public and coming down like a ton of bricks on the soldiers.
Gangsters used to have machine gun battles in the streets during alcohol prohibition. I don't remember the last time a brewery killed a rival. The CEO of Budweiser is a respected position. The war on drugs has made everything worse, we swapped opium and cannabis for fentanyl and spice.

Back in those times we had both the Hilltop Crips and the Bloods. There was a lot of territorial fighting going on. Hilltop was a region that was highly feared and avoided. After my military retirement I spent a couple of years working with gang members at the Region V learning center run by the department of juvenile rehabilitation and the Tacoma School district. At the time, this was the most dangerous place in Washington
Terrence Popp was involved in the shootout tangentially; his shotgun was there. It's been known as Tacompton due to the hill top crips and their rivals since I was a kid, we had our share of gang activity bleed over between Portland to Tacompton gangs here in SW WA along the 5
Police probably only came in when Ranger stated that he's an Ranger and requests backup as being attacked by Cribs. @17:47 it was quoted by Foulk, since I assume the police officer statement wasn't on media, so the officer stated to Foulk that part, and Foulk mentions that there was this officer who stated that the events of that time the only thing that changed police in Tacoma. It's not the office by the name of Foulk, it's just a quote that Foulk mentioned that some office said it to him.
if you live close by to him, maybe ask him to do an interview or something about it and tell his version, what was left out of the video, what the video got wrong etc
The unspoken about elephant in the room is that 15 army rangers didn't leave bodies strewn about the property. I've worked alongside rangers and they are typically pretty good at doing things like that. I think that the original documentary was exaggerated to get the attention.
As someone said about this video: "The Rangers weren't trying to kill anyone that night, otherwise the shooting would've been over in less than a minute with all of the crips dead."
@@Rzo139 Well then they should have mentioned that in the documentary no? It would have amplified the courage and proficiency of those great people. As I said, my statement was was just an observation based on my experience working alongside them.
The state of gang violence in the late 80s and 90s was a epidemic. There is a movie called colours. Sean Penn stars. Starts with a drive by shooting, ended with the killing of a lA cop. They tried to ban it at the time. I wouldn't mind...I'm from Manchester England. But at that time it was called gunchester. sounds about right. most officers want the feeling of power most dont have the balls to actually jump into a situation. shit i was at my county fair and marines were there recruiting, over half of them were fat and out of shape lmao and these were suppose to be marines and they have flat tires on thier hips and guts that match lazy ass couch sitter.
did they have any video evidence from that shootout or no
Sounds like BS to me
They weren't occupied because they wanted the rangers to...um..take care of the gang-problem? Like The Punisher-stuff?
Lmfao calling the cops cowards cuz they let the rangers take care of things get a grip
When I was at Fort Lewis from 1995-1989 (11B), someone told me this story but not much other than there was a shootout between Army Rangers and Crips a few years prior. I thought it was just an urban legend until a few years ago.
bad idea to mess with a Ranger unit whos motto is basically "fuck around and find out"
Sgt Foulk is a legend in Tacoma, still lives in the same house.
You gotta watch more of his vids. He’s an ex-paramedic and ex- Hawaii 5-0 and his content is so entertaining. This was his first video to go viral and man does he ever deserve it
It was nice of the gangs to give him a heads up of when they will attack very smart of them.
Semper Fi.
Idk. I question the judgment of anyone who goes through All the hell of ranger school just to start at e1 again in the marines lol.
@@dansexitstrategy5042 how true that was in '77. I hope they went Special Operations of some type. They most likely wouldn't have stayed E-1 for long.
Nothing about that story was short
@@animalanimal7939 yeah my wife says I talk too much too. She still listens even 45 years.
Gangs are still there and at the end of the day those rangers didn't do jack shit.
@@MovieGuy666 what? Obviously you didn't see how bad it was. Hell tacoma is on a down turn due to moron city council and mayor but it has almost no gang issues compared to the 80s and early 90s.
@@meatbyproducts theres still gangs on hilltop eastside and in southside
@@omgean didn't say there weren't. But they are far from what they were. I was nearly shot in drive by shootings while delivering papers multiple times, almost shot in high school.
Lived in Bremerton Wa. at this time. I watched our police change, and on weekends they patrolled in practically combat gear due to the gang fights.
My grandfather was one of those men.
He's also got a great sense of humour and seems pretty laidback - like if I was visiting the US and he had pulled me over in a traffic stop I feel like we would end up going for a bevvy or something rather than ending up down the nick ... although I guess that probably depended on how bad my driving was, lol.
my sons an army ranger. alot of love and respect
There is a simple fact that when seconds count police are minutes away
I lived in Kent, WA in the early 80's ('82-'84). The big thing going on at that time was the Green River Killer situation.
As a veteran myself (USN), I especially enjoyed how these gang members really had no idea whom they were dealing with.
This was a great story. It reminded me of 'Gran Torino'
It’s true too.
If you ever go to Seattle you’ll instantly understand about the crack being sold to the ice cream man
This is great. The swisher sweet comment was about them buying cigars and unrolling them, adding Marijuana and rerolling them so they can smoke in the open and not be hassled
I've lived here just south of Tacoma since I was born in '82. How have I never heard of this story?!
My husband was a CQB instructor in Chesapeake. Love the shirt
loved the vid.. north of Seattle army dude here... I think the last part was Foulk quoting what he heard an officer say... which is why it's in quotes and then has the by line of -Foulk
Yeah that sounds like some typical army bullshit. No good deed goes unpunished.
That's most likely what happened. Punishment would have been a reduction in rank, and or being chaptered out of the service.
And as he predicted, he was never Promoted and he left the Army.
These videos really blew him up I was subbed to him when he was at 80-90k subscribes
Need more of this across the free world ! Even today.
Hey, you got yourself on Finnish mainstream media newspaper Iltalehti for your Finnish army fitness test video !
when you talk over the sound track, us older guys can't understand either
Gangsters used to have machine gun battles in the streets during alcohol prohibition. I don't remember the last time a brewery killed a rival. The CEO of Budweiser is a respected position. The war on drugs has made everything worse, we swapped opium and cannabis for fentanyl and spice.
Thank you everyone for your service!
Moral of the story is don’t fuck with a Ranger and his retirement plan
This channel is actually really dope, I found through them about the koreans taking over the rooftops lol
You should watch the Rooftop Koreans on his channel too!
Hey man! Loved this one, really good quality video and the humour is spot on. Can you do more of this channels content please? 😊 He's done one recently on the SAS that would be good 👌 Thanks dude, love your channel.
😎🤙
obi wan nairobi had me chuckling 😂
“Pretty interesting” is one of the funniest things I’ve heard in the past few years.
I'm from Tacoma and remember when this happened. I was in 8th grade. I roamed the city by myself and rode the city bus. It was high crime back then.
it happened in the 80s ice cream trucks were known for selling drugs, my friends bought off one for a while.
They made a news article about your Finnish army fitness test on Iltalehti. 👍
That background beat was pretty cool just like the background behind you. I have a Superman like that too. Haha!
Keep up the great work!
That is whole different method to real estate manipulation. I bet even Warren Buffet would not think of it lol.
🤣🤣🤣
Hell yes go Rangers❤️I personally think we need to see more of this. Great video
I remember that, the gangs in Tacoma was off the hook back then, after that incident 23rd and Ash was called the War Zone
I remember when this happened and I was thinking, damn I really wish that I was there. I was a weapon expert when I was in the Army. I always hit what I aimed at.
They’re in all 50 states, 0five US territories, and about 10 other countries around the world.
Was in WaNatGuard at the time My buddy was there. 2nd Plt, A Co., 2nd Bat, 75th.
I happened to go to PLDC with some of the Rangers that were at the Hill Top incident. It's true... real... and a testament to Ranger training.
All HAIL the 2nd Batt 75th Reg RANGERS LEAD THE WAY
Thank you for your service and sacrifice God Bless and Godspeed
As a quick personal note, I was stationed at Bangor in 1991. Yeah...Tacoma was BAAAAD!
This is my goal in life, to become an army ranger.
Basic Infantry, airborne jump school, Ranger School - Let your recruiter know this is your path. Alternative is 19D Cavalry Scout (Sub-rangers). Air Assault/Pathfinder/Jump School - Ranger School.
And don't settled for less, You have to do 11B or 19D school and AB or AA before Ranger school.
I live in Chicago and the show Justified that is filming in Chicago just hired a security team of form Navy SEALs and Army Rangers led by a international hostage negotiator...these guys work globally. Gang members broke through their barricaded street having a rolling gunfight in cars while they were trying to film.
I remember hearing about this on the radio back in the day
They Should make a movie about this incident
Pretty sure there were some bad guys pulled away not breathing anymore. And, pretty sure rangers didn't give someone they didn't know to hold their rounds.
SemperFi brother. Thanks for sharing.
At the time, this was the most dangerous place in Washington
hell yeah I knew you were going to enjoy this video lol
ps. I started drinking yorkshire tea because of you
Glad you enjoy the Yorkshire haha 👌
Hilltop was REALLY bad back then. I lived blocks from it, and it was so bad cops didn't go there w/o 4-5 cars minimum.
Terrence Popp was involved in the shootout tangentially; his shotgun was there. But, he knew every Ranger that was there and you can hear his version of the shootout in this video at the 11:45 mark he describes the Rangers decimating gangbangers at the Tacoma Mall, and then goes into the Ash Street Shootout: m.ua-cam.com/video/ypPgYU6KALo/v-deo.html
I just posted this story time too, I think I posted on this or someone else’s reaction to this story. It might of been a different guy I don’t see my post. I’ll delete the one I just did, since you linked it. 👍🏻 Popp is awesome.
The Rangers went at it with the gang-bangers at the Tacoma Mall????
I had no idea.
When did this happen, was it somehow connected to the Ash Street shootout, or was it another incident.
Great video! Nice little break down..and thanks for your service, sir!
Was on the USS Midway when this happened. In a A-6 Squadron, most of us thought this was ok.
The unspoken about elephant in the room is that 15 army rangers didn't leave bodies strewn about the property. I've worked alongside rangers and they are typically pretty good at doing things like that. I think that the original documentary was exaggerated to get the attention.
Their only crime was not having a plan of extraction and "getting caught" by the police.
I work in the neighborhood where all those gang members went... Rangers need to come to Hosmer St in Tacoma.
That must’ve sucked to be one of the dudes who got handed a BB gun 😂
ARMY!!! HARD CORPS!!! Never heard of any Ranger who backed down from a fight!
Im from Belfast Northern Ireland i just want to say thank u for your service even tho I'm from Northern Ireland but still thank u
At the end Foulk was simply quoting the cop.
And a one square miles area known as moss side, where I grew up playing football at platt lane, was a war zone and had a crime rate worse than the Bronx.
And a fraction of the size...
This movie is great.
Thank you for your service.
Brother, please, trying to watch this was like being in a movie theater and people near you are talking through the movie. Sorry but it had to be said. Semper Fi.
PopoMedics video on the North Hollywood Shootout is amazing!
Grew up in Southeast Tacoma and walked past drug deals and shady stuff just about everyday on my way to school.
lived in Gig Harbor back when that happened. heard about it, but as a young boy did not really pay attention to it.
*Crips sneak closer to the target house*: Why is that boss music getting louder?
Have you heard of the Emu wars? Also the pig war? Very good true stories.
Tacoma was a war zone back in 89. It was a hell of a lot worse than it is now
17:20 That was Foulk quoting what the police officer had stated, hence starting with "He said"
Roof Koreans next?
@in desperate need of a scotch probably a little bit of both, but popomedic made a video of them.
I’m just a young 21 year old Mexican tryna get out the wicked Hood by 25 😞i did a burger king Mukbang inside target , i also smoke weeed on my UA-cam channel 💀
When there's blood on the streets, buy property.
They gave him the gun finger...uh-huh, that will make the RANGER back down.
