Where do the wires lead to at the end when you had like ten of them coming out of the hole on the top or bottom? What voltage were you using. If it was low, why not keep the wires inside the box and create a switch using one of the buttons you added? You never mentioned where the wires were heading to. This item is so cool. When it's back in stock I think I'll order one for my R2D2 room.
Hey there, we did use the Glowforge for this project. I’ve used it for EVA foam with much success. You have to be sure to verify the materials the foam is made of so it doesn’t harm the laser, but there are helpful notes in the Glowforge community posts on that.
Great build... as for motorizing the interface pieces are you planning to add gear teeth to the outer diameters of each layer's ''disk'' and with small motors and an arduino or similar small pc to randomly move each layer with a small proximity switch triggered when you motion close to the interface?😎
Thank you! To be honest we have not entirely figured out how all of it will move. Each "wheel" is isolated, but the real trick is hiding any of the mechanical aspects of the prop so you don't see the gears or motor connections. Should be fun to figure it out!
@@TheSmugglersRoom I am thinking to make simpler only a few layers need to move so use thin clear material at a diameter large enough to be hidden inside to move those few layers... but i am but a mere dreamer...you are the geek that makes it happen!😁

is it possible to download the layouts somewhere to laser cut it myself ? that would be great !
We do not currently have the files for sale, but we are considering it.
Can I use on UA-cam channel.wondering
Where do the wires lead to at the end when you had like ten of them coming out of the hole on the top or bottom? What voltage were you using. If it was low, why not keep the wires inside the box and create a switch using one of the buttons you added? You never mentioned where the wires were heading to. This item is so cool. When it's back in stock I think I'll order one for my R2D2 room.
What size LEDs do you use?
We have been using a lot of 5mm LEDs. Here is a link www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PXYYTY4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Did you use the glowforge to cut your acrylics? Also will it cut EVA foam? Thanks and keep the killer content coming!
Hey there, we did use the Glowforge for this project. I’ve used it for EVA foam with much success. You have to be sure to verify the materials the foam is made of so it doesn’t harm the laser, but there are helpful notes in the Glowforge community posts on that.
I feel like Ralphie," a crummy commercial?", lol.
Oh No David, sorry! The whole episode or our sponsor insert?
@@TheSmugglersRoom I love the channel. It just seemed like it was a commercial to sale your products.
This is amazing are you guys going to do a Hoth glowing console from the empire strikes back 18:28
Thank you! I sure hope we get to a project like that soon!
@@TheSmugglersRoom
I am thinking to make simpler only a few layers need to move so use thin clear material at a diameter large enough to be hidden inside to move those few layers... but i am but a mere dreamer...you are the geek that makes it happen!😁
Please update when you put motor s in
What is the grey color name you're using for painting the box ? Thx
Hey there. I’m using a Rustoleum primer gray, and then Rustoleum Dark Gray Gloss. Then sealed with their semi-gloss clear finish. I warm up each can of spray paint in a bucket with warm tap water before spraying.
The Smugglers Room you mentioned this box is different than normal material. Did you seal it before painting like mdf? If so, what was that material?
