“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
    Mat. 7:21

@richardwilkinson72 amen. Good distinction. To *say the words* without *living them out* is hypocrisy. In fact, that's always been a tension I have with how we hear Romans 10 ("if you say with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you will be saved"). I had a guy tell me I just need to have the whole church say those words out loud every week in a "repeat after me" fashion and that way I'd make sure that everyone was saved. It doesn't work that way. To "believe in your heart" is always about "living with your life." And I believe the "many" that Jesus talks about will be some of the people we classify as conservative and liberal. But it's not enough to simply believe correctly. We need to obey love.

@@simplerfaithTrue. Be ye doers of the Word, not merely hearers. Nobody can be in the faith if the Holy Spirit has not given them repentance, that change of mind about who God is and who they truly are: we are sinners.
Right now in England, the Church of England’s bishops are openly promoting gay relationship and gay marriage in the name of inclusion to bolster gravely falling numbers and they are saying Jesus is Lord in churches but disobeying him on His doctrine on marriage, and persecuting Bible-believing vicars like Brett Murphy, so yeah, it’s crazy here.
The liberals are those practising homosexuality together with those promoting such practice and disobeying God’s Word. Not in the faith. So, liberals are those who disobey God’s morals deliberately, not those who happen to have not yet move out of liberal churches like Hope but she will since God commands separation in 2 Cor 6, right?

@@wemuk5170 Yes. But another thought: Conservatives tend to label intentional disobedience as liberal. But liberal doesn't mean "disobedient to the scriptures." It has more to do with how they read the scriptures. Or perhaps, whether they read the scriptures. Or what value they ascribe to the scriptures. I believe that the way they read the scriptures contributes to a fluid morality, resulting in what I believe is disobedience to the scriptures. You and I probably end up at the same place, but I think it's a helpful distinction to recognize.

Great message, I wish more Christian’s could do just that, love one another and in turn love Christ. The enemy comes to divide, Jesus wants us to unite.

I also have believed that, and written on it (Jesus Christ is Lord, is our unity, because it's scriptural) for over 25 years. See also The Grace of Christ, Third Edition, chapter 16, which simultaneously includes striving for the gospel's (Jesus is Lord) doctrine, 1 Cor 1:10, etc. Not surprisingly, he believes in microchurches!

Romans 9:6b; “For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel.” 1st John 2:19a; “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us”. A general statement: “There is no such thing as a liberal or progressive Christian. The world dictates theology for the liberal/ progressive, whereas, the Bible as written dictates theology for the conservative.” The liberal/progressive must distort and pervert the Bible in an effort to conform the Bible to the world. The world loves the things that God hates and hates the things that God loves. The world calls evil good and good evil. Those who love the world have not the Father and for the liberal/progressive who loves the world, I think it is easy to substitute “rich” for “liberal/progressive” in Matthew 19:24, Mark 10:25, and Luke 18:25.
Jesus will build His church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. The church on earth consists of those who profess to be Christians and those who actually are Christians, often referred to as the visible and invisible church. A true Christian cannot remain unequally yoked with a liberal/progressive for the liberal/progressive is a false teacher, a false prophet, with a false Gospel. This is not to say that the true Christian should not share the true Gospel with the liberal/progressive, but if the liberal/progressive is to come to Christ wholly and completely, that is a work of the Holy Spirit.

Interesting insights. I would challenge you to say the same things without using the labels. I mean, I believe it's true that liberals/progressives twist the scriptures to make them say what they want. But I think it's probably more helpful to explain the things that are wrong (people who twist the scriptures...), rather than assigning labels to the people who believe the wrong things. But that could very well just be my own ministry. If God calls you to call it out, and you experience fruit in that, then preach.

I don't necessarily disagree with the statement, but often what people mean is that "people who don't agree with my interpretation of scripture aren't really Christians." I think that's a lazy and self-important statement. For you, is there room for believing God's word and disagreeing about what it means?
