- This short piece of music was used in a Harp Lager advert from the 1990s in the UK. It is called "Harp Blues" and was taken from a promotional compilation tape (sponsored by Harp Lager) with no information about the artist. However, it sounds like a blues arrangement of a Shaun Davey song called "The Parting Glass".

I have been searching for this tune for years Thank you so much Geoff Thompson for posting it
+SADDLENAIL You're welcome. It took me several years to identify the guitarist on this track as Anto Drennan, thanks to Niall MacSweeney (see below).
I dig it, I want more.
The guitaris is none other than the amazing Anto Drennan..
I have this tape, now transferred to mp3. I´ll post the track listing shortly.
+Derek Blevins Thanks. Looking forward to seeing that track list! I can't remember anything that was on it apart from this track. I'd be interested to know if there's anything else worth mentioning on the cassette's inlay card, for instance: year of track recordings; publishers; catalogue number; etc.
Side One
Harp Blues - Harp Blues (S. Davey) S.Davey M/S (1990)
Howlin' Wolf - Smokestack Lightening (1956)
Joe Cocker - With a Little Help From My Friends (1969)
B.B King - Aint Nobody Home (1971)
Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways (1983)
Muddy Waters - I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man (1968)
Side Two
Thin Lizzy - Still In Love With You (1975)
Eric Clapton - Snake Drive (1971)
Jimi Hendrix - Red house (1966)
Fleetwood Mac - Man Of The World (1969)
Them - Baby Please Don't Go (1964)
Harp Blues - Harp Blues (S. Davey) S. Davey M/S (1990)
Note the years stated in brackets are not from the sleeve notes, they are simply estimates on my part. Worth noting the Gary Moore track is one of the rare instrumental versions of the song "Parisienne Walkways". The Thin Lizzy track is "I think" the version from "Live and Dangerous" with the main guitar solo by Brian Robertson.
I had the track listing read to me over the phone. When I see it again I´ll update this post
+Derek Blevins Thanks for taking the trouble to post this. Interesting to see the "Harp Blues" track included on both sides of the tape. Maybe different versions? Also, I'm guessing that the tape was issued on or around the year 1990.
I didn't realise that I have most of these tracks.
Joe Cocker - With A Little Help From My Friends
Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways (not the instrumental version)
Muddy Waters - I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man
Thin Lizzy - Still In Love With You
Eric Clapton - Snake Drive
Fleetwood Mac - Man Of The World
Them - Baby Please Don't Go
And the Harp Blues track of course - although it would be nice to get hold of a CD quality of this one.
Thanks again Derek.
+Geoff Thompson I have now the tape cover in front of me. Some of my dates are a bit out. If you want a scanned copy of the tape cover, contact me here. facebook.com/The-Blues-Brothers-Experience-Benidorm-152109584955083/
I'm trying for the life of me to get the playlist from that harp lager compilation cassette tape, which also names the artists from each track. Any suggestions where I can search?
+Paschal McCosker I know how you feel! I borrowed the promotional tape from a friend many years ago and as far as I can recall the names of the artists weren't included (but I may be wrong). I've only recently learned that the guitarist on the above video is likely to be Anto Drennan. I too have searched the interweb for that Harp Lager compilation tape with no success. I think it was produced in the 1990's so maybe you could include that in your searches? Hope that helps. Good luck!
