IRCSO Officer Involved Shooting press conference 7-29-2024

Sheriff Eric Flowers held a press conference today regarding a Deputy-involved shooting that occurred last night.
Around 10:00 PM, a Deputy responded to a call at 9495 108th Avenue concerning an intoxicated individual. While clearing that call, the Deputy was alerted to a disturbance across the street at RaceTrac (9490 108th Avenue). Upon arriving at the RaceTrac gas station, the Deputy encountered Jeffrey Lee Miller (DOB 06-19-1982).
Shortly after exiting his vehicle, the Deputy was attacked by Miller, who was armed with a knife. The Deputy created distance as Miller continued to advance toward him. The Deputy then fired several rounds, striking Miller, who ultimately passed away at the scene.
Jeffrey Lee Miller had an extensive criminal history, including multiple felony charges, and an active warrant out of Pennsylvania for a parole violation.
The video footage of the incident includes the initial call for service and the subsequent shooting.
This incident is currently under investigation by our Criminal Investigations Division.
