    Thank you for this review, I'm a psychiatric nurse from the UK and have had an interest in economics since discovering Friedman and Sowell. I have zero background nor knowledge in economics, however, I'm hoping to learn more and I hope this masterclass is the beginning of my potential journey as a well informed individual. Thank you

      Taking a class from Krugman will be the polar opposite of Friedman and Sowell's economic philosophy. Is it interesting to look at to become a well-rounded individual? Sure. Is it useful for predicting anything in the economy? No. Keynesian economics does not have a genealogy of correct predictions that other economic schools of thought have.

    • @shooter7a
      @shooter7a 4 роки тому +1

      Friedman's theory of money and banking (reserve multiplication) is just a wrong as what Krugman believes (banks as intermediaries), but Krugmans has proven far more dangerous. If you want to see what BOTH of them get wrong, read the Bank of England working papers 529 (Banks are not intermediaries of loanablefunds - and why this matters) and 761 (Banks are not intermediaries of loanable funds - facts, theory and evidence). Who are you going to believe about how banking really works. People who actually work in the operations side, or some pointy headed academic.

    • @shooter7a
      @shooter7a 4 роки тому

      The correct model of banking and money, especially today, is banks are creators of money. This is the model we used 100+ years ago, and it was correct. We have done nothing but screw things up since.

      There was a poll taken among economists several years ago. Krugman is not only wrong about his economic theories, but according to the poll, he is the most PARTISAN of the big-name economists. So much so that he has been known to do a "180" depending on which party is in the white house.

    Sounds excellent but being a healthcare activist myself I would be most interested in just part of this master class and I do not know if that is possible
    I have created a new practice model and professional nursing that includes all the advanced sciences and we are in about 28 states now. I will write to Mr. Krugman about this and hopefully he will reply

    Really good video. One question that I have for you is do you think that it would be valuable for someone who has a degree in economics? I am considering taking it, but my undergrad degree was in economics, but that was over ten years ago and I'm looking for something that would be a refresher for someone with a background in it and above a beginner level. Would this class fit that description?

      Thanks Brandon. Not really to be honest. If you like Paul Krugman, and enjoy his work Yes, it can't hurt. But you won't get as much value as someone without prior knowledge.

But I would like to ask what are some positive analysis from Krugman (since we all know his normative affirmations). Thanks you

    To all the people who think there is no problem with the system in the US. I am a US citizen, but I have lived in Japan for a few years, where I receive government healthcare and pay minimal taxes due to the economic system... Not to mention that the schools work and teachers get paid, the libraries are open, there is public transportation and there are no infrastructure issues. Basically, the government takes care of its people. Which is what I don't see at the DMV when I go back to renew my DL... or any other government office. Where could all that money be going..? Maybe there is too much spending on friends who charge 10k for a machine for the military that costs $100 normally. And other corruption that we aren't seeing. And that is why I vote GREEN (Because I personally believe that both the Democrats and the Republicans are both corrupt because they are both too powerful and have lost their original ideals). There is some discussion on why Americans get taxed the same amount as Japanese but that money is not seen in the part on "Redistribution" in this video at about minute 12:00 ua-cam.com/video/QzQYA9Qjsi0/v-deo.html

      I'd rather live a hard life as a person with rights, than live a comfortable life being a sheep of the government.
      The government doesn't care about you in any country, they only care about your money and profit. Japan just sees that pandering to the people makes the market a little bit more steady, and consistent. But when you so happen to 'break the law'.
      I recommend you watch a documentary on a channel called 'Rare Earth' on 'Why Every Japanese Criminal is Guilty
      ' then come back to me.
      Our economy is really bad, but at least our laws aren't as disheveled as China's or Japan's system for punishment.
      'Basically, the government takes care of its people.' Until you do something that someone doesn't like.

      Japan has a VERY, VERY different immigration system from the USA. NO COMPARISON AT ALL. They control their immigration very well. Japan is nearly a closed society and it is very difficult for many westerners to adapt and break through. Not saying it isn't impossible. Do not misinterpret my words. My best friend is Cuban/American and is living in Japan now. But he went under the condition that he would help clean up the nuclear mess that occurred a few years ago nd was allowed to stay. One of the major problems with the USA is our rampant illegal immigration.

    As an academic, Paul Krugman is very accomplished-- the top award in the field. His academic writing is actually readable! I was always happy to get one of his articles rather than one of the other authors in the field in grad school. He makes his writing understandable. But I do not see who would want to take this course. Who is it targetting? I write this based on the ad I saw. Do economists want to see this? Are there people wanting to learn economics? Why wasn't it marketed as a course on understanding economics? The one selling point I saw was the Nobel prize. Maybe that will be enough. Is first online class a selling point?
