This is a really cute idea--I could see it modified to make other sea creatures such as sirens or merrows (like Lagoona Blue from Monster High) by adding latex fins to the doll's arms or small latex gills on her cheeks or the sides of her neck.

This is SO VERY GREAT, thank you this much! I love water, mermaids, everything compared with. But I never was interested into these barbie Mermaids, they are not at all as you think a Mermaid would be, with these plastic fins or the ones from cloth. But this is 'fishlike', I am so happy because of it and will make a complete ocean filled with creatures;

I tried this several times and never got it to work, but how did you paint it without it stiffening up the tail, or peeling off. Also, it prevented the tail from sticking to itself. Tips?
