I saw Bobby when he did a gig at the Airmen's Club at Tachikawa AFB in May, 1962, I really like his take on this song, and I think he's been overlooked as one of the key artists from back in the 60's.
On this day in 1963 {November 22nd} Headliner Bobby Vee*, as one of the acts of the '1963 Caravan of Stars' touring show, was scheduled to perform at the Dallas Memorial Auditorium in Dallas, Texas... The concert was canceled due to the assassination of Pres. Kennedy earlier in the day at Dealey Plaza, which is only three blocks from the Auditorium... A the time his "Yesterday and You" was at #62 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; a little over two weeks later on December 8th it would peak at #55 {for 1 week} and it stayed on the chart for 7 weeks... Also at the time fellow performers, Dale and Grace, were in the first of two weeks at #1 on the Top 100 with "I'm Leaving It Up to You"... * Bobby Vee and Dale & Grace, along with Brian Hyland and Jimmy Clanton, waved to Pres. Kennedy as the Presidential motorcade passed by the Dallas Memorial Auditorium...
Simon (seville) sang this song on the episode 'dr simon and mr heart throb' i love the episode cuz it's simon-based and he sings it way better than bobby vee
Trying to confirm the person who wrote the lyrics for "Yesterday and You". We know that Ross Bagdasarian wrote the music, but there is no specific attribution to who wrote the lyrics (words) to the song. Armen's Theme was originally released as an instrumental (says right on the record label) and recorded as such several times by different orchestras. Checked on ASCAP, BMI and SESAC with no success. Found one UK reference that said "I think Ross Bagdasarian ..." Inquiring minds want to know who put the words to the music!
When Bobby recorded this (late 1963), his impact had started to fade and Liberty (his label) was trying to find a style that would get him going again. Then the Beatles hit and that made them even more anxious to 'package' Bobby. This song had a Bobby Darin big band feel to it, then "I'll Make You Mine" was a British Invasion style, they even tried a 'country' take with "A Girl I Used To Know". All sounded good but failed to really connect.
Been waiting for this wonderful song written by Ross Bagdasarian (aka David Seville). Thanks so much for posting!!!

This is for someone long ago, what happened, it was so sad.
