What makes Beckanne so beautiful is that even though she has that gymnastic skill of being able to get her leg up super high in her extensions, she never overuses it; she stays true to the music and only does when the music allows her the time. She is such a joy to watch, I hope to see more videos of her!
Beckanne has always been my favorite ballerina. She is amazing as a person and a dancer. I loved sharing the Small studio with her to warm up before adult class. She's so down to earth!
An utterly fabulous rehearsal!!! The dancers giving their all, the director so specific and positive, the pianist bringing the music alive... Just wonderful!!! Tears of joy running down my cheeks. Thank you!!!!
Beautiful but please get more microphones for sound. You can hardly hear it. Also, please zoom the cameras more instead of always having it in long shot because it would sustain more interest with the eyes being able to see more close ups. But it doesn't mean the wide shot isnt beautiful because that distant angle is beautiful too and that studio and natural lighting is gorgeous. This is very beautiful and thank you very much for letting us in on a rehearsal. I subscribed. I love the artistic director's energy and he speaks with great theatrical volume and seems so respectful and nice - real positive energy.
Sorry....many clips from ballet west and not one where the male dancer take real place only shown as support.....I love the nutcracker and love Sergei Polunins performance .....let your male dancer also show themselves... thanks for sharing 💓 from Sweden
This rehearsal shows a critical difference between European, specially Russian companies, and American ballet companies. In Russia or England such a rehearsal would have been led by retired prima ballerina who would focus character not just technique. So after this rehearsal they may get perfect technique but they would still be lacking in conveying the story and the character. These dancers deserve much more than ‘technical’ advice, they need guidance to help them reach the soul of the dance.
She makes it look effortless - as though there's no gravity.

Watch ALICIA ALONSO with Ballet Nacional de CUBA do this almost identical choreography in a gala 1983.
