Hi coach, thanks for these exercises. One of my targets for the new year was to start doing strength exercises to help improve my running. I knew I needed to do it but don't like weight work (never have) and had no idea how to even start. So I searched UA-cam and liked the look of your video the best. So I've just completed the first month, doing them every 3 days just following the video and, whilst still not my favourite thing, I do enjoy doing them. When I feel familiar enough with all 7, I will write them down and start doing 2 then 3 sets. When I've got to that stage I'll take on your "thigh solution". Thanks again Colin
Great video, looking forward to giving this a try. How many sets would you suggest to do and how often would you recommend doing this workout every week?
@@Criticalbench this workout kicked my butt this morning. I thought I was in pretty good running shape but I don’t usually lift weights. This had me breathing heavy, my heart rate elevated and I’m sore in places I’m not normally 🤣 definitely going to make this a regular part of my training. Thanks!
I run 3 marathons my finish time is 3hour 30min will follow this exercise I believe one day I can get into 3 hours goal ! Thank you coach for sharing this video
Great Video Coach, being nearly 60 but training for my 10th marathon I am trying weights for the first time. How many reps and sets would you recommend
You need to start figuring out your own rep ranges because everyone is at different fitness levels. It's almost an impossible question to answer. Your range should be push yourself until you feel like your progressing towards getting stronger 💪
Thanks for your question. It is a full body workout for runners. Many runners focus on the lower body. Running requires the total body. Your upper body is critical for running well. You also need a bullet proof core. Total body also gets the heart rate up, which helps your conditioning and work capacity. Try the workout and let us know how it improves your running. Thanks for supporting the channel!
@@Criticalbench ohh yes!! Ppl think only running but its so much more than that, even if we are slow and not pros, it helps you a lot doing it all together
@@carastone3473 It is most certainly the case that if you want to improve your running, then you need to run. This is the principle of specifity, which states that, in orer to make adaptaions in a particular activity, then you need to do that activity, so runners need to run, swimmers need to swim and so on. However, strength training isnt crosstraining, so as you point out, strength training will improve you as an athlete, making your muscles, tendons and all connective tissues strongerand more reslient.
I’m sorry but most of these don’t actually help by very much. If you want to be a fast runner with explosive speed or vertical just do heavy dumbbell squats and hamstring curls. You can work the calves if you want but they don’t really make a difference in explosiveness and are mostly genetic anyway.

Start with 3 sets and work up to 4 or 5. Perform twice weekly.

Great Video Coach, being nearly 60 but training for my 10th marathon I am trying weights for the first time. How many reps and sets would you recommend
10-15 for 3 rounds
If it isn’t too much to ask, can you make a video optimized for sprinting/explosiveness? Thanks
Thanks, very helpful. But does one have to warm up before doing these?
It's always good to warm up a little 👍
Thank u
Welcome
Lateral lunge into side raise, stationary lunge press, and helicopter row are gonna be challenging for me 😭
Nice video really good
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
This felt like an Attack on Titans training video 💪😆 (Attack on Titans is an anime check it out)
We hope that is a good thing
Solid content
Good
How many kgs of dumbless should a runner lift?
How many times can we do this in a week for a beginner?
You need to listen to your body but 2-3 is a good starting point.
@@Criticalbench Thx
Should this be done right before a run as a warm up?
P.s.love the meat suit
Great vidoe but a question on if this should be a certain amount of time on each exercise or a certain number of reps

How many days a week should I do as a ultra runner and how many sets ?
3 sets 10-12 reps 2-3 days a week
How many reps and sets? I only did one aet of 6-8 reps
Each 😅
Do not get me wrong but is this video a full body workout or is it a video to strengthen legs for runners?

Great workout thanks. I wonder how this could be incorporated into a weekly routine
Definitely!
vry nice dear
Thank you!
😂😂😂 the muscles guys cracked me up! 😩
Is this good for 100m race
Absolutely
I'm focusing on building speed like Bruce Lee.
I'm preparing for 1600 m can I do this
Yes you can
Anyone else get 007 from N64 vibe with his muscle guy? 🤣
😂 Good one!
The best way to get better at running, is running.
Not really, you need to eat healthy, do weight training and run.
... and great nutrition, recovery days, consistency
@@Criticalbench ohh yes!! Ppl think only running but its so much more than that, even if we are slow and not pros, it helps you a lot doing it all together
Spoken like someone who has no understanding of how to use strength training to improve as an athlete 🙄
