Micro scrapping is definitely relaxing. I find that keeping the head and hands busy blocks all negative thoughts.

It’s definitely a very peaceful hobby that can pay its own way in not just financial return but emotional gain as well

Nice one -- I've made a habit of collecting power plugs myself since I started searching for scrap metal. Nice to do a batch of them when the weather outside is too cold for stripping the wires. Putting the plugs in boiling water for 5-10 minutes softens the plastic casing and makes pulling them out much easier. The little plastic sleeves can be a nuisance to remove though - at least the earth pin is always clean ☺

Thank you for your suggestion. I will def have to do that as it’s a tricky skill to get the copper out as well. I’m hoping to get better at making these videos and I will be watching and learning from your channel from now on. Love your work fellow scrapper!

I’d rather earn a small amount of money with my hobby than pay for it like most people. Once I started sharing what I do people I know now save their old cords for me to scrap. I like to trade them something as well, like a toy for their kids or a power cord that they need for their house. I love a “win - win” trade.

Yes I really need to do this but I got sidetracked today with some tyres. I’ll get onto this very soon as it seems that there is an interest in the actual process

Does your scrap yard actually pay you bare bright price for that appliance wire? Surely not it's to thin needs to be 16 gauge minimal its classed as number 2 like all copper wire strand thinner than a pencil lead whether is clean or bright and shiny.

It depends on how I store them and also how I present them on the day. Most yards know me now and know I’m really careful about making sure it’s what I say it is. Sometimes I’ll even bag it up into sandwich bags of 1 kilo per bag. The guy at one yard just shakes his head and tells me that I’m too fussy, 😂
