49:22 These comments actually made me feel a lot more settled somehow about his passing, I mean to know that he felt that way and that he actually went out in just that manner really makes it better somehow. Amazing guy, and he left a great legacy of inspiring music. RIP Mark.
For me Mark Shelton is a true hero. No matter what, he was just served his muses till the end, never betraying his ideals. True musician, true warrior, true artist. May your spiritual journey be as spectacular, as your heritage, you left in this world!
Met this gentleman last Sunday in New Hampshire. He was the most kind and humble guy I've ever met. He has a long body of work that actually warrants him the right to be an arrogant rock star, but he was respectful and much appreciated my support!! Up the hammers, down the nails!!!
I had this interview since it came out in 2017 on my "watch later" list here on youtube, then Mark died. It took me five more years to watch it through till the end. I remember well the day he died here in Germany, on that evening even the moon payed its respect to Mark by eclipsing, haha! Now, having heard his words of wanting to die doing what he loved best, it leaves me back with a happy feeling that he got his will. Rest in peace Mark, and thanks for the times I could spend with you and the guys on various occasions! Up the hammers!
Born in Manila City, and still living in it. Hearing him at 5:07 hits different. Discovered Manilla Road's music in 2011 and just discovered this interview. RIP Mark.
Really nice interview. I've just recently discovered Manilla Road and man what a legend Mark Shelton was. Such a humble and smart dude, so sad he passed away this early but he went out the way he wanted. A true legend!
A true gentleman, a musicians musician, an inspiration on how to be a rock star and a human being. I miss the Shark and am thankful that he left such a great legacy. When my numbers up, I hope there's time for one more listen to Mystification before the lights go out.
I rememeber I was really shocked by Mark Shelton's death. Such a great last album, great band and great person. I feel a huge loss for the world of heavy metal. Rest in Piece and thanks for you music, it definately will live long. \ш/
I actually agree with Mark when he says the next one would have been even better. Man, they were on a roll with the last two albums! We're never gonna know... Such a shame...
Fortunately , no longer an unsung Hero of US Metal. There's only two LPs i'm yet to purchase - Mark of the Beast and Playground of the Damned (and yes i know that Dreams of Eschaton is a better version of what is in Mark of... , but i miss that cover art by the great Jim Fitzpatrick). I was lucky to interview him in 2016. The world of Metal music lost one of its Best Brothers in Arms. It's a cliché but a truly fair one. Always listen to The Shark's music, it will lead you throughout the Manilla Road. Thanks for reading.
“I’m trying to think, like, all of them will get that treatment down the line.” “Well, I hope so. That would be great if they did.” They have, my friend.
haha the story of the bandname is so good. could never figure out what that shit meant, turns out it's just 2 high guys watching television and making a joke. those are the names that stick
Very nice band and he seems like an excellent man. Also looks amusingly like a twin of Robert Taylor from Changes: ua-cam.com/video/L1tVjIxcQV4/v-deo.html I really admire loyal older gentlemen and find them so inspiring. Never surrender!
R.i.p. you're hugely missed, thanks for your music. "Mystification" is a real gem

I'm so gutted I only just got into them after he died. His singing put me off for years, then I listened to The Deluge and that changed everything
Mark "The Shark" Shelton lived and breathed Heavy Metal as we know it. A true legend. Definitely one of a kind. RIP Mark.
Rest In Peace Mark Manilla Road Was A Big Achievement To Heavy Metal Thanks for everything.

Does anyone else now need to know what that D Augmented 9th shape is?
Yes
Why does it look like it was recorded in 2008 on cellphone?
How awesome would it be to see a conversation between Mark Shelton and Matt Pike!
antoniusmetal No doubt dude. It sucks that Mark was never able hook a major record deal, Manilla Road would’ve been fuckin huge.
You did well old soul
