In this version, Hedwig seems like a sweet and mild person. In the Neil Patrick Harris performance, however, it’s a completely different vibe. I find it so interesting how the same song can have such a different feel to it.
Hedwig always tells stories about the classic country western stars. Neil and the newer production did a fantastic job, but the original ... is the better.
I really love the transition from “it’s a car wash ladies and gentleman” (which cracks me up) to Hedwig on the tray. Idk why. And I love the expressions of all the people when she’s on the table. They’re all so shook.
I love how this song is about power and sexual innuendos. Great movie too. It was so clever and witty definitely a must see if you haven't already (but i doubt that since your looking at this video).
Sarys Sarys on the original dvd they said Ally Sheedy did it for a bit. I think they showed a pic of her dressed, but no footage. THAT I would love to see. The intensity, and a vulnerability she’d bring to it I think would make for a good show.
This version of Sugar Daddy has a bit more of a soft country flavor to it and I actually like it a lot. Both versions are great for different reasons. Whether it's presented as a country song or a rock song, it's just a great piece of music.
I love the following scene with Hedwig's mother. "It's a simple cut and paste job." "To be free, one must give up a little piece of oneself." Just an all around brilliant play/movie, wish I could have seen the original on stage.
Brian Ballou I don't know which one I like more, probably the tony one it's more rocky and has more oomph, but nothing can beat John cameron Mitchell, he has something...just something very special.
I like both. I slightly prefer the newer version because it fits the intense theme of the song, and a country-ish song almost is too different from the rest of the music
This was a great movie. It's not easy to put a musical on screen, but this works great. When turning a musical into a movie, you let the story interrupt the song, not the song interrupt the story.
I live in a small town, so there is no way this play would ever visit my town... So, I whole heartedly enjoy this movie...this song is second only to "wig in a box". Love this movie :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
i love this song! fab film! like the rush of rrrrrock and roll everything you bring me got me dripping like a honeycomb a car wash ladies and gentlemen-a carwash
JCM will always be my Number 1 Hedwig, but I do think NPH did a great job as well. I didn't connect as much to Dexter's portrayal of Madame Angry Inch...
Actually, the character Yitzhak is a cis man who dresses in drag. The reason is he's played by a cis actress is to show how he passes as a woman better than Hedwig, which she resents him for.
Ohhh the song was cut short in the film? *sad face* Nonetheless, this song was SO well performed and damn I'd kill for Hedwig's legs....and I'm a nineteen year old girl. XD *loves Hedwig*
Do you mean at the end of the clip? That's Hedwig's mother and she tells Hedwig she'll give her passport to her so that she can use her name in America after the sex change opperation
In this version, Hedwig seems like a sweet and mild person. In the Neil Patrick Harris performance, however, it’s a completely different vibe. I find it so interesting how the same song can have such a different feel to it.
I love this version much more
try the riverdale version

"So you think only a woman can truly love a man? Well you buy me the dress I'll be more woman than a man like you can stand" -Love this line!

Have you accepted John Cameron Mitchell as your TRUE Daddy?
k lincoln No, but I admire his work.
As Hedwig? Yes... yes I have.
Yes, i HAVE. JCM is FINE AF, EVEN AS HEDWIG
It breaks my heart a little bit every time I heard Hedwig saying
"He loves me mama, he wants to marry me"
"It's a car wash ladies and gentlemen!"
0:52 i crack up everytime she gets up on the table the lady looks so disturbed
I love how this song is about power and sexual innuendos. Great movie too. It was so clever and witty definitely a must see if you haven't already (but i doubt that since your looking at this video).
i wish hedwig and the angry inch was a real band!
“I bet you could fill that cavity sweetie” -Took me a minute to get that joke 😂
I dont get it !?
@@keirafae6669 cavity is something like a small hole
I have tried and tried and TRIED yet I still can not get into anyone else being Hedwig. Just can't do it.
agreed
same here, the only one i've kinda liked so far is andrew, but JCM is the one and only hedwig
JCM is definitely impossible to beat, although I do appreciate Andrew Rannells and NPH as well.
Even Lena Hall?
Sarys Sarys on the original dvd they said Ally Sheedy did it for a bit. I think they showed a pic of her dressed, but no footage. THAT I would love to see. The intensity, and a vulnerability she’d bring to it I think would make for a good show.
i have to say, i LOVE this version because it's so sweet. i like nph's version for the extra sass and attitude

This one of the best film musicals of all time.
im loving the converse!!!
I love the following scene with Hedwig's mother. "It's a simple cut and paste job." "To be free, one must give up a little piece of oneself." Just an all around brilliant play/movie, wish I could have seen the original on stage.
saw this movie once years ago and "it's a car wash ladies and gentlemen!" still pops into my head
Wow. What a difference from what I just saw on the Tony's!
Brian Ballou I don't know which one I like more, probably the tony one it's more rocky and has more oomph, but nothing can beat John cameron Mitchell, he has something...just something very special.
Can we just take a minute to appreciate how hot Miriam Shor looks.
This movie is so queer and I absolutely love it!
Is absolute genius
For some reason, I love John Cameron Mitchell's voice!
It's a CAR WASH, ladies and gentlemen!
I love this song to much and I might love Hedwig a littl to much too
I didn't expect to love this movie but I did. I recommended it to my son and my granddaughter.
What a wonderful movie and soundtrack -- NPH actually rawked the F outta this song without straying too far from the original feel :))))))
One of the best musicals of all time 😍
I like this version because Hedwig is like a working girl just trying to pay the bills. More modern versions are far more aggressive.
I like both. I slightly prefer the newer version because it fits the intense theme of the song, and a country-ish song almost is too different from the rest of the music
Meanwhile Hedwig is walking across tables and carwashing old dudes. Very "just trying to pay the bills" of her))))
His agent was WORKING for her pay! LOL
I've started using Car Wash as a verb.
Please teach me the ways to use it, for I must see Car Wash as a verb as well
This was a great movie. It's not easy to put a musical on screen, but this works great.

This is genius! Im obsessed totally obsessed. His acting is brilliant the songs fantastic. Love love love!
great song. Awesome movie. Fabulous wig
DONT MARRY HIM HEDWIG!
This is really a grate movie ! Grate songs, grate story, grate acting ! Very fun to watch.
Best clip .. I adore that movie!
thanks so much.
Pure Brilliance! 🤗
I live in a small town, so there is no way this play would ever visit my town...
So,
I whole heartedly enjoy this movie...this song is second only to "wig in a box".

I LOVE Stephen Trask!!! Hes a total BEAST!
We watched this in my class...my professor was Yitzhak father. I've probably been never so excited to talk to a professor before :)
i'm seeing this live this weekend! so freakin' excited.
I love the subtle detail that there’s apparently numerous yarmulke-wearing Jewish men at a (very non-kosher) lobster restaurant ✡️🕎🕍
pure art and the cut to the other sceen is amazing 1:26 ahh what a good song and movie
I love JCM
my favorite.
LOL! the car wash part LUV IT!
i've owned this movie for years and had no idea the person who played yitzhak was a woman! amazing!

This is the Sugar DADDY.... Benn there done that...:)
"It's a car wash, ladies and gentlemen!"
Sudden flashbacks to OHC
i love this movie
1:34 man is my favourite character o the show.

Dammit, everytime I go out I don't get the carwash treatment. :)))
The Car Wash still fucking kills me
JCM will always be my Number 1 Hedwig, but I do think NPH did a great job as well. I didn't connect as much to Dexter's portrayal of Madame Angry Inch...
@adrianarmesto I was just thinking of this song last night. And. of course, that's the part I was thinking. LOL
@ciphergundam more like the BETTER GaGa!
my dad did drag for fun and sang this song. p.s. it's a carwash ladies and gentlemen!

Lol I hadn't watched the movie yet at the time I made this comment and didn't catch the reference, oh well
Friend emailed me to check this out. Now I want to see the movie. Whose got it ? Netflix, Vudu ?
Chaotic evil
Ohhh the song was cut short in the film? *sad face* Nonetheless, this song was SO well performed and damn I'd kill for Hedwig's legs....and I'm a nineteen year old girl. XD *loves Hedwig*
@RandomPickle97 these lyrics are from the play....I'm guessing it was edited for time on the movie
@earthtotony Hedwig and the Angry Inch, awesome movie. free online from netficks I believe.
I got car washed by Mimi Imfurst when she played Hedwig!
Poor you
Oh lord...
Haaha, I'ts a car wash ladies and gentleman, I really enjoyed this movie.

it's a carwash lady's and gentlemen. LOL this scene doesn't give it to me. Poor Hedwig. That man didn't love them they way he deserved.
@catpatcat1 Punctuation is very much appreciated. It took me five minutes to decode your comment.
i need a young suger daddy with old soul
What was that lady about to do? I'm jw because I haven't seen the movie yet.
Do you mean at the end of the clip? That's Hedwig's mother and she tells Hedwig she'll give her passport to her so that she can use her name in America after the sex change opperation
Thanks. It kept bugging me what was going to happen.
Denice Fabulous dynamic tension was making a funny.
That's NOT what happens and that's NOT who she is - see the movie!
Teabagger...
What?
Nic Lawson Hahahahaha!
Sounds so country, not a bad thing - I’ve just only heard the rock & roll version
well, that's why it was cut. Would have been too long, the entire song wasn't necessary.
What movie is this?
@catpatcat1 it's okay for fictional characters to wear fur. just as cruel as always for real people
He's like a blonde version of Rachel Griffiths
It is............I hate Michael Pitt but I love this movie sooooooooooo much.
