Please can you tell me what grade of sanding wheel do you use to sand down the chrome, I have engine covers to paint, what do you think is best to hand paint these. Thanks.
You just need to scuff them up so the paint grips, i used a medium course flap disc.. the type with flaps of scotch brite laid over each other..!!!
ace run of vids mate been keeping up with you for a while now, keep up the good work, wish i had the time to set up cameras and edit stuff when im fettling in my man cave
Hi Jason, it certainly does take time mate, thats for sure, maybe twice as long.. but its fun, and you get to reach out and help others.. Thanks for your support buddy, have a great Sunday.. Del.
9:46 Great quote, Del. lmao...
Great work. I'm looking for that simonize tough paint but it's not sold in USA! Sucks, but what else is comparable?
Hi Jason, take a look at the Rustolium range, you're looking for something that suits crash bars and bumpers, something flexible and resilient... thats basically the characteristics of this stuff..! Good luck with your search.
Have you checked out that Halo efx paint?
Nice rendition of Bricktop's "Snatch" quote
Easy to watch videos Del, like the progress of the makeover. BTW did i miss what happened to the Turbobike did you chop it in?
Hi Ian, i had to sell it to buy this project bike mate, sadly can;t keep them all, (i wish)..! Tanks for your support buddy, have a good weekend.. Del.
😎
Got a bandit 600s and want to remove the horrible fairing at the front, and put twin headlights got all the form brackets and everything but how would I go on with soildering from the headlight loom? Any advice please haha
Hi Del think the brushed alloy effect lacquered would look good
Hi Tony.. i agree.. i love the look of brushed alloy.. but this lot is all chrome over steel, and the rocker covers are chrome, patchy and scuffed off over alluminium... none of it would look good for very long.. and i want to tone down the bling.. so back it is buddy... there will still be lots of chrome highlights, and the bodywork's gonna be baddass..!!!!
Yep the last owner will not recognise it 😎
Another good one.
You must get through some plastic sheets hope they not too dear 😂😂
10p each buddy..!! special offer in B&Q
i do like the clean look of brushed/scuffed metal, do you know what colour your gonna go with the wrap yet?
Not yet buddy.. gonna visit the guy at the wrapping company and check out the incredible range of options,, i have a loose idea.. but ill let them inspire me..!
Its a really hard decision, ive been thinking about it on my impreza but been looking at colours and i just cant decide. At this rate i'll probably just get a blow over in original colour which is a rare shade anyway
What type of lift do you use? Thanks!
Hi there. the lift is one of these.. www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?gotonode=ViewProduct&method=mViewProduct&productid=17700&productdescription=&productcode=&category=31&catgroup=249&catmicrogroup=&analysiscode=&requiredresults=16
Love watching you work sir, great stuff! BTW do you use a HEPA filter in your vacuum?
Hi Don.. i can buy them for my Karcher shop vac..
alrite del/penny thats the only trouble when you have 10ft by 8ft shed in the winter. you cant do any spraying. want to spray me body work on the bandit satin black but to dam cold now so have to wait till the summer ;-(. cheers mike/jan ;-).
Exactly that Jim.. ..
jan woodworth Hi Mike.. You can still use your shed mate. i had no more that an 8ft shed myself not so long ago, you can still turn out a good job and have fun doing it..
Haynes books are good to..I use their techbook and your videos when ever doing any thing on my bikes
and their books on that bike over kill I no lol ..but better safe than sorry
No book is overkill, any technical data in invaluable because it serves as peace of mind for that 70mph thrash up the road and you know it wont fall apart.lol! Haynes are really well laid out and often a lot more "to the point" than a genuine HD manual.. but the factory books carry data that Haynes don't bother with.. maybe you wont use it.. but if you ever need to.. then its there aye,!
Nice one del..
Love your show and form and logic and exportease and also your helpfullness the manual is KING in my videos I post them under comedy cause my show is a fun funny do it your self type vlog thanks again for your show wish I could plague to you channel but cant yet You have my plague and best wishes
Best wishes to you too my friend, thank you for taking the time to get in touch, good luck with your channel... hope it works well for you and remember to have fun... Del.
God I wish your vids were longer del lol. .
Thank you so much sir, that is very kind of you ... its a balance, the watch time of most of our videos averages out about 50%.. so better than it was.. but if they were longer, then people would just skip more..! i just try to keep all the important steps covered, with none of the "here's one i made earlier" business.. and a few tips to help if i can too.. Thank again for your support, have a good weekend sir.. take care Del.
@@Moonfleet41 i understand what you mean del it's just your vids are so addictive and I'm always looking on my UA-cam channel for your next vid. .have a nice weekend del you deserve it 🖒
Hi,nice job Del. Sorry to disturb you, I provably missed it but what kind of disc have you been using with the grinder ?? thanks for the video and have a good weekend. Gus
Hi Gus.. the discs are like a regular flap disc for sanding metal.. but the flaps are made from scoth pad material... like these.. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DRONCO-NON-WOVEN-POLISHING-FLAP-DISCS-115MM-4-5-FINE-BLUE-GREEN/113082815803?hash=item1a5442d53b:m:m8g7pojDlTsccWGEl9RXeog:rk:3:pf:1&var=413421397125&frcectupt=true
I used the red, medium grade for sanding back the chrome, it leaves a great scuffed finish ready for painting..
Hope that helps you out. have a good weekend.. Del.
and why would anyone dislike this video!??
I guess not everyone likes Harleys Den..
You should try mixing gloss with the flat black
where did you get that small white heater from del ;-)
Thats was ebay about 10 years ago.. they are nicer now, and lots of options.. you can get your shed up to 20 degrees with no trouble.. Here.. have a wilf mate..

Wow, that bike must weigh 2 tonne! and the frame, what’s it made from? an RSJ!!😂
A Dyna Wide Glide weighs 293Kg, meddle ground on Harley terms, the Sportster are about 250, and the big bad Ultra Classic weighs in at 374kg.. over a third of a tonne.!
Thumbs up!
Can you cure the painted pieces in an oven?
Martin Long just don’t let your wife catch you.
What’s the plan for the bike when finished?
Love it, live with it, and ride it till the wheels wear out..!
@@Moonfleet41 Amen.
👍
I thought that maybe you’d ship that off to Mackie and let him go mad giving how you’re going a bit murdered out look. Also, what about a Daymaker headlamp instead
Just blacking out the big areas of chrome to take away the slightly overdone bling on these older bikes... it'll still be shiny and clean, and there will still be chrome, but just highlights not feature areas.. so not quite murdered out black.. but a lot less bling for sure. .and the bodywork this time will be wrapped in some awesome vinyl.... it'll be a feature for a new company i've found, and should make some awesome video... just got to get through this big bit first... thanks for your support, have a great weekend.. Del.
👍👍👍
(P) SNATCH a lot of strippage but will be worth it, freshen her up baby! See you on Sunday 😀
Strippage indeed brother.. poor thing looks positively skeletal now..lol... Sunday indeed.. can't wait..! ride safe on the way down.!
Cool
Do you know what nemesis means? ;) I liked your version of it lol
Had to clean it up a bit aye..lol!
I love your work, only one thing, your rear chocks, I know they are top quality but for me it is an eyesore. They belong to a sport bike not a low rider. Sorry. The rest top notch.👍
I chose them for the performance, not looks..! Thanks for your support, its kind of you to take the time to get in touch. have a good weekend.. Del.
slow dry....interesting
Why not finish the light and forks the same colour as the rap?
☝️👍👍
Wouldn’t it be faster if you didn’t use your left hand?
Trust #Forums at your Peril! ....... Too many UN-WiseGuys for my liking, getting a Kick out of mis-leading everyone :-(
