We must remember this is a work in progress, we are really still in the early stages of our rise from the depths is the Ashley era. Most of the team from then will be replaced in due course, it's FFP that makes it a slower process than we would all like. Success will come and it will be so so sweet, whilst we have it we should wallow in the excitement and players that are coming to us. Any player that looks just to one season ahead is probably not right for us. All the links are fabulous and make for great entertainment. Brilliant job Paul and team, here's to a great summer of incoming players.

Mbuemo always stood our for me when they've played us, I agree Paul he's a good fit. He's got PL experience too and in a better team than he's in now, he' gets better.

Living in Scotland means I've seen several SPL games this past season ... O'Reilly does look the real deal; whether that would translate to EPL standard is anyone's guess, but if the fee is right then the Dane is definitely worth a punt. 🙂

Is it just me who thinks Mbuemo is a bit underwhelming? He's no better than Barnes who I like, but he's not even starting for NUFC. If you look at the likes of Michael Olise, Raphinha, Johan Bakayoko, Nico Williams, Viktor Tsyhankov all way better than Mbuemo in my opinion, and all apart from Raphinha + Tsyhankov are a lot younger with a much better sell on value.
I think Saudi will want a statement marquee signing particularly on the right wing and I don't see Mbuemo as it and he is going to be at least £35m-£45m, why not spend £10m-£15m more to get the likes of Olise, Bakayoko, Williams?

@@SaturnusDK first off mate, this isn't a debate, it's my opinion which we are all entitled to so I'm not going to juxtapose two completely different footballers, Gordon being a raw 21 year old, but to answer your Q no I wasn't underwhelmed by Gordon as he was lightning quick and always hated him when we played Everton coz he was their danger man but he left his boyhood club and chose to come to the North East, which I had huge respect for

@@SaturnusDK Gordon was a raw, troubled 21 year old, Mbuemo if he joins NUFC will be a more experienced 25 year old - they are incomparable

You do a great job Paul, and you’re right to raise these stories as talking points. They are interesting, and these links do reflect where we are. I just worry that giving these stories oxygen may have some kind of self fulfilling prophecy about them. Mbuemo would be the kind of prophecy I wouldn’t mind though 😉
Worst injury list without tonali. We finished near Chelsea who spent 1BILLION on players. Getting the lads fit and a few smart signings we could win a cup. And the Addidas kit😁

Well looking forward to the transfer window.. I feel the club will be wary of our last 2 and subsequent backlash through injuries and lack of signings.
People complaining these aren't big enough names reminds me a lot of Liverpool fans in the mid 2010s complaining about their lack of ambition buying the likes of Mane and Salah to try and compete with the likes of Aguero or Kane.
Fair point OReily plays in the Scottish league, but you have to trust the scouts have taken that into account. Van Dijk used to play in the Scottish league, would you not have taken him?
I lived in Scotland way back when Larson and Viduka were up front and I'd tell mates back home that we should get one or, ideally both of them. To a man people would turn their nose up at them for the same reason. But, imagine how different things could have been if we'd invested in the likes of them instead of Michael Bridges or Carl fucking Cort

Why does Longstaff get pelters when he has given his all, even through injury?
Just what option to Longstaff was there? They broke Miley through overplaying him, again because there was no option available, and players such as Willock and Joelinton were rushed back early. It worked with Joelinton but it finished Willock’s season.
The team’s medical staff need ripping out and starting again with major investment.

Nobody is saying he doesn't try, but you should look at his other stats in comparison to others at his position. His duels won % is bad, he was dribbled past a ton, pass accuracy % is awful and he was dispossessed a lot as well. We need midfielders that control games not watch it happen around them. I do agree with you that he works hard and doesn't deserve hate just time to move on.
Sean is a great squad player and if Tonali started then that would have been his useage this season. He gives his all and last season was great when not injured. Not a starting 11 but a definite keep unless we got very good money.
@@MarkWeir-cr5tk I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. Tonali into the mix and rotating through the midfield bunch would have meant a different season and a different Longstaff. I wouldn’t judge him until he’s had a fit season with that plan in mind.

I know a lot of fans want Longstaff gone but I’d keep him for squad depth, an upgrade yes 100% but he’s still one of us and squad depth is so important, we really need it going forward

We need to improve. Our starting 11 this window, critical we do that especially now we do not have Europe. Agree O’Reilly is a real player and so is Mbuemo. Would love to see us fixing the right hand side and upgrade on Wilson.

Mbeumo yes for me 9 goals 6 assists in 27 games is good return and would have been more is not out with ankle injury. Would prefer Olise but Mbeumo would still be a yes if we cannot get Olise as is still an upgrade on Miggy.
O Riley would be a yes as Atletico Madrid Inter Milan and half of the premier league are looking at him. He has caused a storm in Denmark being left out of their squad and the Danish manager has come under much critisism.
He qualifies via a Danish mother for Denmark but is English by birth born in London and came through Fulhams academy and MKD. A bid for him by Atletico Madrid was rejected by Celtic in January.

Mbeumo is quality and could also go through the middle as a striker. We could go with a younger cheaper option like Gnonto to replace Wilson then. Then you have Gordon, Isak, Gnonto and Mbeumo who can all play multiple positions and pace to frighten any defence.

I think they need to sell the prospect of Europe in 2025/6 season with our likely strong challenge for Champions League and domestic cups next season with no Europe to distract us.

Mbuemo is decent but we need better than that in that position if we are to challenge top 4.
We are signing astute free transfers in defence to make a difference up front. I want better on that right side than Mbuemo. Splash £80m on Olise or Bowen.

I absolulty love mbeumo think he is quality great numbers in a shit team with bruno, tonali, tino giving him balls you could see him getting 15 goals a season, Can play as a 9 as well so works well for depth.
I personally think that we should keep longstaff we know he loves this club based on him playing while being injured and stats do say that he is getting better why not save money and give him 1 last chance to prove hinself while being fully fit
I still have so much love for longstaff. Dedicated and loyal. Thats lost in the game now for a long time. Granted maybe he is not perfect and jas had bad games but still a model professional and puts his boots on even if he is injured and struggling. For me, top lad 😊
