This style of fire extinguisher has been around since the 1600s. This one just uses newer materials because the old ones were super toxic

While these are neat, they are also very dangerous, many times will fail to extinguish a fire and do not meet UL 299, UL 711 or NFPA 10 standards and should not be relied on for safety.

My sister's friend's dad is the Fire Chief in our town. He said they actually got some of these to test but they just weren't as effective as traditional methods, so much so as to be essentially useless for a fire fighter.
Water will always be cheaper than a fire extinguisher.
@@deenell9039 Water can make fires bigger sometimes.
What about small fires?

@TheRepublicofEisenland From my understanding, those fires are EXTREMLY difficult to put out, so I'm not sure that these could put it out once the fire has started. I could be wrong though.
This wouldn't work on EV fires, you need firefighting foam. Powder would only work on the inside and is pretty much impossible with how these exploding extinguisher work.
Having CO2 might be more effective if it can be contained within the battery block.
Or just stop making cars.
These fire extinguisher balls are like real-life Pokeballs. Just throw and extinguish!
Now your Roti maker shall not burn ur house down!
How do I protect myself from her instead?
I can promise you that you WILL know about the fire BEFORE they start extinguishing them.
I actually wish these are easily accessible, affordable, and long lasting
If you really think about it, it’s both a dumb invention and a good one. Dumb one because unlike regular fire extinguishers it’s a one time use and can get damaged easy. But good because it doesn’t require steps and all you gotta do is throw it
@@Chrissy1411 Every fire equipment authority and service will tell you that fire extinguishers should only be used once, maybe twice if you can really make that judgement but if they're refillable they should be. These balls are not meant as a substitute for traditional extinguishers and are only meant as a way to deal with an incipient fire that you aren't there to deal with.
@@Chrissy1411 how many fires do you plan to have ?
@@Chrissy1411 Worst it doesnt work
@@EXTREMERC416 does it really not work ? I mean a regular one works really well. But I guess they had to make things simpler because people are throwing extinguishers into the fire. Literally throwing it into the fire
There was an episode of "Emergency" from the 1970's where one of the firefighters had this exact idea and the other fire fighters laughed at him.
I bet there's a comment here from a firefighter explaning why this is completely impractical and stupid
It 100% should be one.
gabruekbrown1027, if ur wondering.
I don't know about these new ones but this is basically what fire grenades were. They used carbon tetrachloride which turns into phosphene gas. They were effective though.
Look at the metal bucket before and after 😂
Even an idiot could tell you it's a bad idea
Problem is with placing this close to electronics is that you destroy all of those electronics with the powder.😅
The assumption is that the electronics would have been destroyed either way, by fire or by powder. And this way, the rest of the building will remain standing.
EDIT: yes, alternatives like an automatic CO2 enclosure exist, but they're more complicated and more expensive.
Where did you die?
“A building which was caught on fire”
So you died in a fire right?
“No,I died from the explosion of that frikin ball”
Looks like an ineffective expensive solution to a solved cheaply problem.
Awesome content Arun!
They use to have something like this around 1926. They would go above trash cans and were glass with water inside.
“Alright, say we’ve got an out of control fire, what do you recommend we do to stop it.”
“Idk, fuck it, throw an explosive in there”
this is how people in movies think fire extinguishers work
Considering how many burnt and unused extinguishers firefighters find after a fire because the occupants had just chucked the thing into the flames instead of using it properly, this is an absolute win.
Agreed
LOL omg do people really do that? 😆
@@0JayDoubleU sadly, yes
@@nishinoyayuu2249 thats actually alarming
Truly a “If you can’t beat em’ join em’” moment
"Fires are out. How you gonna deal with that?"
"By exploding balls"
"🤯"
Fun fact these cheaper types of fire explosives that just use dry chem if not used in very specific environments are known for throwing embers and causing the fire to spread
I should put this under my model 3 seats
I heard of something similar used on oil rigs where they lower an explosive into burning compartments and detonate it. If im not mistaken, the explosion knocks all the oxygen away from the fire and kills it like blowing out a candle
This looks like far more dangerous than the Fire lol
Being a firefighter the first thing that worries me is if the explosion ends up throwing not extinguished items in whatever direction
They had things like this 100 years ago.
Glass balls you threw at the fire. They contained a liquid that would evaporate and the pushes the oxygen from the area strangling the fire. BUT it could also strangle you.
You could buy them in cases or sometimes there was a wire frame that holds the ball with a striker that was released when the lead seal melted, shattering the glass ball.
The firefighters are gonna get unemployed
The only product review guy who didn't sell his soul ❤
We went from fighting fire with fire to fighting fire with explosions.
Finally the saying "fighting fire with fire" actually make sense
Note:ONLY works in a TUBS!
That shit will spread burning parts all over the area,if used on the uncontained fire!
These are apparently super good for dumpster fires
I saw that 10 years ago online but never saw it commercially. Surprised to see it again in a sightly smaller size.
its missing the cannon part of it, now firefighters dont have to get close to kill the fire, they can just shoot a cannon full of these balls.
Regular grenades will put out fires too, the explosion depletes the oxygen, starving the fire, plus they're more fun at parties!
That was exceptionally satisfying.
They used to make ones of glass and a liquid based fire extinguishing agent.
Imagine how useful this would be on merchant and Military Naval vessel.
Least my computer didnt completely melt. Only turned into some shrapnel
i‘m a german firefighter, similar devices were used around 150 years ago (glass spheres with extinguishing agents inside), they’re not that great, since you have one shot at extinguishing the fire and can‘t aim it
So we are now creating fire force products in real life now.
Fun fact: the first ever handheld fire extinguishers were large breakable glass bulbs filled with fire suppressant liquid, which would be lobbed into a blaze to snuff it.
This is basically legal grenades that you don't need a permit for
We need bigger versions of these for huge forest fires.
Only works on small fires and cost WAY more than a small extinguisher. Also has a higher than not chance of not putting the fire out.
Funnily enough throwable fire extinguishers actualy predate the modern ones, they have been around for about 200 years
Implementing this into industrial facilities would be intresting
This is how they use to extinguish fires, like a hundred years ago.
Dang, so thats what a 60ft radius looks like. Alittle smaller than I imagined.
Imagine being in a fire and this is your only chance of survival only for you to miss the shot.
The fire service needs this ❤😂
Just imagine
...
" FLASH OVER FLASH OVER HELP "
" Firefighter down "
" 1 sec I'm coming "
" FRAG OUT "

I love your content! Your the best product reviewer!
I feel that in practice the spread would be very limited and would probably fail to fully extinguish the fire.
When fighting forest fires, we use this when were are about to die.
Imagine people thinking these are anything new. While more advanced, fire extinguishing grenades have been around for centuries.
i saw someone testing these and from their tests, they dont seem to work very well
they work well in a contained environment like in this small pan, but when he used it against an open campfire, it only blew out the flame and then it got reignited by the ember
Oh yeah, I totally want one, especially since they're 70 bucks, while you can get an actual extinguisher for 20 bucks.
As a pure side effect due to physics, the explosion on its own can have the ability to snuff the fire without the dry powder.
Seems like something that could just be included in surge protectors, circuit boxes, electric heaters, stove flame hoods, etc.
That's why the Fire Department are recruiting pro bowlers from bowling alleys.
I saw a bunch of these in a restaurant. I was wondering who put their balls in cages 😂😂😂
Huh, never knew they made firefoam poppers from RimWorld in real life.
funny enough about 10 years ago i had a dnd character that invented this exact device, shame i dont personally know how to make stuff like that.
"Hey guys! For a prank-"
The one on the ender three was pretty cool. Might have to get one for mine.
Keep up the good work! You are the most amazing product reviewer to me
so uhhh small side note, some of the extinguishing powders, tho effective, are highly corrosive meaning if you use it the put out a small fire in your house it might still cause all the wiring and electronics in your house to rot. not sure if it applies to this one because i dont know what exact powder their using but i know in my country if you use the standard handheld powder extinguishers it could void your houses Incident insurance meaning your not getting paid anything to fix whatever the fire or the corrosion damaged.
"Blasting upto a 60ft radius"
Thats so cool, imagine if it actually worked outside of a bucket... Like a more realistic scenario... Great idea though!
"fighting fire with fire" ahh safety
this could be dangerous in a critical situation
I like the idea of vacuum extinguishers.
They can actually install a system in a attic to stop or slow a fire using smaller versions of these kinda like a six sided die make it where it is approved for the attic situation you know like closed attics. They can use propellants that are not gun powder-based, they can make them directional to where they blow towards wood near chimneys etc.
It's kind of like the old fire extinguishers they had that were made out of glass
Seems like a useful invention idea.
"Subscribe for more explosive revelations", I love that line
The shockwave would also help displace oxygen momentarily, I suspect. Cool stuff.
They had a simular thing in the old days
These are actually recalled in the UK, they spread the fire.
We goin back to the 1900s with this one
Don‘t forget to throw away anything that came in contact with the dust and renovate your apartment afterwards.
