If the microphone is not working after an update, and all the settings are okay, the problem is really on the windows 11. I fixed mine by pressing Go Back option as downgrading from windows 11 to windows 10. When I go back to windows 10 the microphone was working just fine.
I'll have to check that hotkey-suggestion you gave, but I think that when I put my computer into tablet mode a couple of weeks or so ago, the ribbon-cable for the microphone may have snapped in two. I think I applied the unfolding-pressure too close to the hinge, possibly accidentally-breaking the mic's ribbon-connector. I don't remember, or even know, if my keyboard has a microphone-mute switch, but I do know that it has a mute-switch for the audio-playback. I will definitely have to take a look at that, because I do tend to mess-around with my function-features a lot (like brightness and volume), so maybe I just got trigger-happy and muted the microphone by mistake. Maybe I'm hating having to dig-out an external mic for nothing! Thank you so very much for this wonderful support-video! You are so smart and well-versed at computers! That gives me an idea: might you start providing phone assistance once Android gets ported to Windows more properly? Just a thought. :-)
@WindowsChimp I got it working aGain, thanks to you! I never knew that there were an Audio-Service and related functions! I restarted both of the ones you mentioned and made sure they were set to Automatic, re-enabled my mic (because why previously enable it if I'd thought it was physically broken), tested it by recording my voice for about two-point-seven seconds, and it worked! You, are a true life-saver! Now I don't have to lug an external-mic on vacation later this weekend! Thank you so very much! You're the absolute best! Postscript: One of the other commenters, @UCbjnrm6C25jbXpFejdb9f5w, said they would love a camera-black-screen-fixing video; I don't have that issue yet, but I'd love that video too, in case I ever do; thank you!
unfortunately this didn't do it for me, my mic used to get recognized, but not anymore, when I plug it in it doesn't show anything nor add a new device or change how any devices sound in control panel -> sound, it's an EW3552 and I use it on a windows 11 laptop since it used not to work and the windows 10 to 11 upgrade fixed it back then, the mic has an adapter and sometimes I use it sometimes not just to test what work even though the hole of the laptop is merged so it technically needs the adapter
I had an issue where the Microphone was being picked up but no apps could get input, I tried all the methods and at the end the following was the solution Open Sound panel -> Recording -> Select Microphone- right click and selevte properties -> go to Advanced tab -> checked both boxes under "Exclusive Mode" You can aslo do restore Defaults and it worked after that. Hope this helps someone if they have an issue, was stuck with this problem for a while
MS has disabled mic gain in windows11 and done something to "auto adjust" which doesnt work, if you speak very near to mic it works else it wont hear....most probably they will send update
