A friend of mine was trying to deal with cancer taking one of her dogs. She loves her dogs more than she loves her friends. When we went out for wings, I gave her the idea of mixing some of his ashes into some ink to get him tattooed into her. She imeadiatly turned to one of our friends (new and extremely talented tatto artist) to ask if that was possible. Our friend responded that that could not happen at her tattoo shop due to health regulations. I looked at her and asked how many tattoo guns she had at home? Two days later my friend texted me that she had a new tattoo... I do beleive that that is one tattoo that has helped heal an emotional scar, so this song has a personal emotional connection for me, unlike all of Tom's songs that deal with his drugs and alchol problems that I have no experience with.
In Discord, I asked Tom if he was talking about physical and mental scars, and he said, "Indeed," and I think one thing he was talking about was that major crash. People said they liked the country vibe, and he said, "There's nothing wrong with some twang," lol. Also, if you go watch Nova's story, she said they were battling 40 mph winds. This is a beautiful song and I was quite happy to see I wasn't the only one effected so deeply by it. It looks like it hit you pretty hard too. His other songs I can only imagine the difficulties of drugs and alcohol, but everyone has scars in one form or another and it's so much easier to feel it so deep in your bones.
