I find it interesting how completely different your common edibles are from mine Dead nettles, chickweed, dandelions, plantain, and wood sorrel are my commone ones. Interesting enough I've been propagating yarrow all over my property to encourage it and it has gone nuts these last few years. Now trying to do that with calendula
in my second video I talk about plantain, dock, wood sorrel, lemon balm as well as wild carrot and a few others. I thought it was too much into to put into one video... I do think we all need to learn what we can eat in our own area(s).... and can't count on any one area being like another. You and me are case in point...might be a fun video to do showing what is in my 8 grow zone and your 8 grow zone. Different sides of the US but so similar in some ways. How far from the ocean are you? I'm 90 minutes.
@@OldSchoolPrepper I think that would be interesting. Our winters are same temp but so much different in length. I'm already at 70 degrees soil temp. And as for the ocean, I'm about 2 hours away. Shorter if I could take a straight line but I have to drive in a zip zag shape
thank you friends, the content is very educational and very useful, especially related to health, I really like it, always successful and healthy friends, greetings from me, Indonesian,❤❤❤❤❤❤
this is an area that usually has corn growing in it....since this is the off season they planted a nitrogen fixer grass (to just plow under before it seeds) everything else is just a wild weed that grows here. You bring up a good point though because everyone has different edibles/medicinals in their areas...we should all be aware of what works in our home area (or bug out areas)
All members of the mint family have square stems, including catnip, nettles and pennyroyal. Some members of the mint family are powerfully medicinal and should be consumed with caution. Proper mint varieties such as peppermint are eaten by very few, if any, animals other than humans.
i know...I have so many interests and love continually learning...my goal is to teach people to grow food and help themselves so they aren't dependant on any systems...just themselves.

I can get tree about 3 feet tall from seed in a year. Happy days year
thanks for the correction I will definetly look into German Chamomile...I'm always open to new information....I'm a fan of native flowers/plants. Thanks again

Good informational video, thanks for sharing , God bless !
Thanks for watching! I appreciate you Michael!
Good stuff!! We used to eat the grass when I was a kid.
what kind of grass? hahahahah
Should start getting some green here soon. Fiddleheads and spruce tips soon
I've started seeing spruce tips as well, fiddleheads are still a bit out. I'd be really interested in a video (from you) of northern wild edibles.....
Good video it sounds more believable when you eat the plants as your showing them.
It does! and I do.....especially the wild mustard greens....i love them!
Mint families have square stems. So thankful for your video
thanks!
dead nettle is in the mint family hence the square stem.is not actually a nettle.
We don't have an area like that that around here

I have been very successful in growing dandelions this year :-)
well done!
I'm not going to find none of that stuff here lol, recao is the one I use the most, its a cooking spice
I know right? up to each of us to know what we can eat around our homes and/or our SHTF areas. Maybe show us what grows wild near you! you lucky guy!
@@OldSchoolPrepper Right now the streets are full of mangoes, Sugar cane grows like weeds, bananas 🍌, coconut 🥥, malanga, a bunch of stuff lol
@@MosaicHomestead malanga? never heard of it...I had to Google it. do you make it much like you would a potato?

it sounds like you know a lot about herbology....you should do some video's, people need this type of information.
The writing in your video was WAY too small for me 😬✌️
bummer! sorry
Your all over the place
