I follow an almost exact replica of your process. The one thing I'd add: when shipping my cards, I trifold a printed invoice (eBay makes it easy) and secure the toploader inside the trifold. This allows for a reminder to the customer of the details of their purchase AND provides an opportunity to increase customer retention. Just a thought. Love your content!
Glad to see I’m not the only one that’s anal about my listing syntax and making sure that all the info is correct. I’ve seen wayyyyyyy too many bad listings out there that were copies of other bad listings with most never going through to correct the wrong information.
One tip with cropping photos. Always try to crop them 1:1 square because the image preview in search results is square and will cut off portions of your card. Especially important for graded slabs because it will cut off the label making it hard to see that it’s graded vs raw.
I need to tell you how much your photo taking has really helped me… I’ve sold on eBay for years and have struggled with photos. Another thing I appreciate is just be transparent… love all the tips quality video really like the content you put out T-Pot!!!!

eBay has become an absolute nightmare with their runaway commissions and fees. Far better to consign with a major auction house. Like REA, LOTG, Leland’s or Heritage. Let them do the work for you and pay the same or less commission.

I tend to message sellers for best prices on cards listed above comps. If they say what’s the best I’ll pay I reference comps and usually start by offering 85-90% of comps and go from there. I personally prefer to negotiate in messages rather than going back and forth on the “best offer” people tend to just ignore offers instead of declining them. If they declined I could move on to the next seller or something else I want but instead I have to wait 2 days for the bid to expire

The part you forgot was that using ebay standard envelope means that tracking on those cards is hit-and-miss at best. I would go so far as to say that rarely does the tracking information on the standard envelope get uploaded by USPS. That leads to the problem of inexperienced buyers, impatient buyers and those that want cards for free (because they exist) will say the card hasn't arrived and demand a refund. Since there's no tracking you're at their mercy. Also if you're a buyer, learn to be patient. The post office doesn't always deliver 1st class mail in 7 days. It can take up to two weeks or more and that is beyond the control of the seller.

How does it work if you start an auction for 99 cents and choose eBay standard envelopes and it ends over $20? Do you have to reach out to the seller and ask them to pay for the 1st class shipping? Wouldn’t that deter some buyers or upset them?
Hey Tyler my name is James I wanted to bring up something that's been happening to me for the last 4 months with eBay I buy cards off of eBay been doing this for years and in the last 4 months every time I get cards in the mail I have to pay extra for shipping at the post office because the eBay people ain't paying the right shipping according to the post office and this has happened to me at least 25 times in the last 4 months and I think somebody need to look into it eBay basically tells me to go back to the seller some of them have taken care of it and refunded what I paid in the extra postage but I've had some of them that's just totally ghosted me and won't pay the extra shipping and I have all receipts and I took pictures and everything I think you guys are doing an awesome job thank you
That's messed up! I'm not sure that eBay can do anything about that other than to ban sellers, but I doubt they would do that. The seller should be charging you the appropriate shipping cost and then paying that amount. If they're offering free shipping but then shorting you, or if they're charging you for shipping but then shorting postage...that's not good. Leave them negative feedback on eBay. That's the best way to correct the behavior.

Yes there is...although it's not always accurate. Sometimes cards show delivered that never were, and sometimes they show still outstanding and got delivered.
Hi T. Pot! I always love your content, so I appreciate ya, broski Hey, quick question? You said you were going to put the Posey card on auction starting at 99 cents and it's worth $15. How are you confident that you are going to reach at least $15 to start it at 99 cents. I'm new in the game, and I have been going through the "T. Pot University" for a long time on my other account, so I wanted to reach out for the advice. Nevertheless, thank you for your info and time, dudester👍💪#CollectingLikeDad
Hey there, You can never be totally confident. So my Seager rainbow foilboard /25 only sold for $5.50 😂 🫠 I expected $10-15...but it did have some gnarly chipping on the back edges. It all comes down to timing. If you want to just move it, put it on auction. I could have also run that Seager starting at like $10.00 opening bid...but it may not have sold.
I will say, I sometimes appreciate the auto-decline function because it saves me time as a buyer. I can instantly negotiate with the seller, and see that I’m wasting my time trying to get a deal.
im in philippines can i sne u my slabs n som raw cards if u als o buy bulk i am willing ot trade for store credit of boxes of pokeman n sports card boxes
I have to disagree about the messaging to find “lowest price” I have found it so much easier to simply send a message asking for the best price. If the seller sends me a number that I like I immediately send that offer and have it paid as soon as it’s accepted. If the seller says “what’s the most you’ll pay?” I reference comps and offer 85-90%. It’s so much easier than sending an offer and it being ignored for 2 days. People would rather ignore offers than just decline or counter them which is way more frustrating.
@@MarketMovers which is fair because a lot of people especially on eBay are window shopping. Just simply sharing that some who ask are serious! Love the content
So there is a way to do it in Advanced Filters, which you can apply to saved searches...but you have to do it every time which is a hassle. I wish they would make it easier!
@MarketMovers oh I agree there lol. People tend to accept statements literally anymore. Just a tip on why that's done though, having best offer enabled on buy it now listings is a boost in ebay's algorithm. Many sellers add it strictly for that purpose.
Tea pot, I always love everyone of your videos, the only thing I whole hardly disagree with, is shipping in a plain white envelope! Do you actually know the process of how plain white envelopes gets shipped and the bends they go through at every hub they are at? I have had 3 different PC Cards ruined because of this! No cards should ever get bent like what they do at the post office, yes you might get your cards safe 99% of the time, but it’s the 1% that ppl get just to save a buck! Who even knows what kind of damage that will cause (especially with cards like optic) later on down the road! I challenge you to watch videos on how plain white envelopes gets shipped and how much and many bends they go through! You might just change your mind about shipping in a plain white envelope
I don’t sell on eBay anymore because of their fees, I only sell on Mercari (no seller fees) and always ship in a Uline (medical) bubble mailer! (Or any bubble mailer should work)
I hear what you're saying. The main issue is that people (myself included) don't want to pay $5-6 to have a cheap card shipped. It eats into profit margins significantly for sellers if they ship bubble mailer on low dollar cards. I'm always happy to combine shipping for buyers who buy multiple low dollar cards and want them sent in a bubble mailer. One thing I actually just forgot to mention in the video was that you can buy ARMALOPES which work much better for
Are you willing to pay the extra shipping? Of course you aren't. No one in their right mind is paying $5.00 shipping on a $1.98 card. And guess what? Lots and lots of $1.98 or less expensive cards are sold every day. If the shipping cost is $1.00 or less expect an envelope.
Gonna keep it 100 with you "main event" Tyler Nethercott I fast forwarded to the end just to see if I won those gift cards. I didn't want it anyway, " the last outlaw" Douglas Husky was my favorite in SCI anyway.
Sellers have cancelled my bids several times when the sell price wasn't what that wanted. I have one right now. He said doesn't have the card but has several listings with similar cards. As buyers we have no recourse.

Thank you too!
I love when buyers try to tell me what my cards are worth when sending lowball offers

Thx a lot!

It's not the way I negotiate. I think there's an etiquette, and whenever I encounter people asking that question, they're not serious buyers.
@@MarketMovers which is fair because a lot of people especially on eBay are window shopping. Just simply sharing that some who ask are serious! Love the content
this video should be a required part of the onboarding process for everyone selling on ebay.
🤝
please tell me how to block sellers. i have been begging ebay for this feature
So there is a way to do it in Advanced Filters, which you can apply to saved searches...but you have to do it every time which is a hassle. I wish they would make it easier!
@MarketMovers thank you for the information dude. definitely going to at least do it where i can.
Disagree strongly on how tight you cropped the pics. There should always be a margin so the buyer can clearly see the full edges and corners.
For cards of any notable value, I think what works best is to have a really nice primary photo (cropped), and then to include the raw images as well.
Best offer can't be set for 1%. Minimum is 5%
Yeah I was being a little facetious, but even 5% is just silly. If I get to $45 as my offer on a $50 card, and it autodeclines...I'm out.
@MarketMovers oh I agree there lol. People tend to accept statements literally anymore. Just a tip on why that's done though, having best offer enabled on buy it now listings is a boost in ebay's algorithm. Many sellers add it strictly for that purpose.
This video needs to be posted by everyone!!❤❤❤
I buy doubles All The Time! Lol
Sellers should not just rely on the grade when writing their descriptions. Don’t be lazy… describe the card and be honest.
1000+ ways to skin a cat !!!!
I'm sick and tired of guys putting "psa 10" in the title and the card isn't even graded. I report it to ebay and they do NOTHING
It's incredibly aggravating
Those vastly overpriced sports cards are used to launder money.
Gonna keep it 100 with you "main event" Tyler Nethercott I fast forwarded to the end just to see if I won those gift cards. I didn't want it anyway, " the last outlaw" Douglas Husky was my favorite in SCI anyway.
Will say I hate it when people tape cards to the inside of the envelope!
Why? You mean like I did with a simple roll? Or when it's like way overdone?
Sellers have cancelled my bids several times when the sell price wasn't what that wanted. I have one right now. He said doesn't have the card but has several listings with similar cards. As buyers we have no recourse.
drives me NUTS
Thanks Man we should call it (TPot Market movers) it will go up like crazy.🤪 Thanks.
This past week I know for a fact that I have been Shill bid against on 5 cards
Great video, thanks.
