That was my route to Bude bike night, when it was at the lock. There is a lovely view over the bridge at Splatt of a garden with a train station in it. Ride safe!

There's no beating the back routes! I'll keep an eye out for that view on my next time through, thanks for the info

It's like having your own personal roller coaster! My route deviated slightly in going left after week orchard, then crossing the a39 to go along the coast road thru widmouth bay, which is a lovely road into Bude. All the best!

There’s slow and then there’s SLOW haha - the monkey actually does quite well on all but the biggest roads, however screaming the engine does get a little tiresome after a while. Perhaps you could gear down the CG a little bit as I doubt you get to spend much time in top? Although without a rev limiter that could be a little nerve wracking. Also you mention the 250 superdream, I was looking at Suzuki VanVan 200’s recently as a slightly more practical option to the Monkey but still full of retro charm

Yeah it's quite something haha. Like I say, it's not at 100% yet, and I do need to pull my finger out and clean the carbs. Once it's at full power I should be talking about 65 on the flat, and slightly more hill grunt, but yeah even then it's a considerable step back in technology from the current crop of 125s. The top speed I'm not too bothered by, it's just the torque up the hills that I want improving. We'll see what we can fettle out of it over the coming months.
