    Beautiful! Very enjoyable tour. I love ranunculus as well but no success growing them. I do have a ranunculus-like flower that's more wild that does well. But I have had zero success with the traditional ranunculus and I have tried many ways.

    • @JoAnnBlondin
      @JoAnnBlondin  5 років тому

      Kyra that's interesting to hear about the ranunculus. I'll let you know if anything happens. I'm thinking those white pots would look better with hens and chicks and succulents. It was fun to try growing them from dried corms but next year, I will do cut ranunculus for arrangements instead.

    What a gorgeous garden! Love those beautiful tulips, the pinks and the burgundy :) Could not help but noticing you have mulch put down, can you share about your experience with it over winter? I also garden in zone 5-6a, in Europe, and I am a bit concerned, this is my first winter since I also added woody mulch to my garden and I am starting to see fungal activity, which I think is normal, but I am concerned whether it could affect herbaceous perennials, or spring bulbs which I a plated under the mulch

    Beautiful garden! A suggestion....I would repaint the pink seating. Your garden is seriously nice and the pink is not that serious.

    • @JoAnnBlondin
      @JoAnnBlondin  5 років тому +1

      Thanks Ruby. That exactly why I like the pink...reminds me to not be so serious. I embrace colour and with our long Canadian winters, that pink brightens up dull days. That said, I debated painting it black or white this year but decided to stick with the pink for the fun element it provides. You never know...it may change again. It was dark green before.

    Where your pink table and chairs sits, that round enclosed areas, is the ground tile? Concrete? And pebbles on top or is it dirt, grass and pebbles on top? No weeds no grass I like that.

    • @JoAnnBlondin
      @JoAnnBlondin  5 років тому +2

      Previously it was grass under the walnut tree that didn't look great. We put down landscape fabric and pea gravel as we needed the rainfall to go to the tree roots. Long term, that's better for the environment as there are more places for absorbing water. And it was cheaper 😊🐬🌻

    • @doowopshopgal
      @doowopshopgal 5 років тому

      Jo-Ann Blondin thank you!! but do you have problems with weeds growing through the landscaping fabric? And how many layers of fabric and how many inches thick of pea gravel did you use for your area. I have grass and am emphatically DONE!!!!!!!!!!

    • @JoAnnBlondin
      @JoAnnBlondin  5 років тому +1

      Yes we still get weeds but they are easy to remove. I usually use a rake (the back of it) about once a month to keep the weeds from getting big. We used one layer of black thicker landscape fabric, overlapped it with about 3-4 inches between the rows. We added about an inch of pea gravel and add more each year where it gets bare. The area started small at first. My husband jokes that my mission is to have no grass eventually. With the tree being cut there, the sawdust has left new dirt for more weeds. When it's all gravel, it's not a great environment for weeds but the extra dirt will have me raking more often.
