    Everytime a foreigner comes to a nordic country they mention the prices lol
    We have high salaries compared to other countries so the prices are high in order to have a balance, if that makes sense?
    For us it's not expensive but I can totally get that it shocks tourists who come from a country that has a totally different kind of economy 😅
    also I've got to mention how there were no people at the Burger king... coming from a Finnish person, we never eat at fast food chains like this unless there's really just no other place to eat 👏🏻 I feel like they're made for tourists who come and end up not wanting to eat local food haha
    edit: I'm feeling like some of the answers I'm getting under this comment are a little confused with my explanation.
    I don't mean that I or someone from let's say Sweden can go to Norway and live like a Norwegian because "we're all equally rich up here". I was simply explaining why a lot of foreigners are confused, why Norway or other countries are so expensive. It's because the Nordic countries (Norway especially in this case obviously) have relatively high salaries and so the prices are fitted into the standars of each of the countries. Just like there are countries that have lower salaries but then the living and product prices are also low. We're all fitted into our own economic situations.
    There's even a joke: Norwegians go to Sweden to buy cheap alcohol, Swedes go to Finland to buy cheap alcohol, Finns go to Estonia to buy cheap alcohol, Estonians go to Latvia to buy cheap alcohol... and it goes on.

    • @Nenutin
      @Nenutin 5 років тому +17

      As a Finnish person who has been to this specific Burger King, the downstairs is usually pretty full, which is probably why Josh and Gabie went upstairs. We were there during off-season, but still mostly foreigners. The reason why we went there was because we were just a group of students and we had booked a table in a restaurant for dinner, so we were saving money with our lunch haha

    One thing too is that it is probably much more expensive to ship food into Tromso due to its relative remoteness, the cost of living there may be higher meaning higher wages being needed for workers, and that all adds into the price. In the US, if you go to a restaurant in a place like Hawaii or Alaska where not only is the cost of living high, but nearly all food has to be shipped in via sea or air, prices are much higher than in the lower 48.

    Norway is really expensive for tourists, even we think stuff is pretty expensive here, but we also have very high wages and great social service and wellfare which covers most of our costs. ^^
    As for why the Burger King is so empty during lunchtime; nobody buys lunch in Norway, we bring food from home, besides it would be very weird to eat fast food as lunch! We need salads or bread or something nutritious. 😅

    노르웨이 물가가 비싸다고 하시는데, 외국분들이 댓글 적어 놓은 것처럼, 한국하고 노르웨이 임금 격차가 두 배 이상 나고 그로 인해서 당연히 물가가 높을 수 밖에 없습니다. 충격 일 수도 있겠지만 그냥 경제자체가 다르다고 생각하고 보시면 되겠습니다. ㅎ

    As a Norwegian, the reason nobody is at mcdonalds is because we dont really eat that much fast food, we cook most meals ourself and don’t really think it is that good( might just be a personal opinion😅 )

    I’ve had both the cheese/chilli dippers and pancake bite things in the UK at an airport, where with a couple of standard BK burger meals it came out nearly as expensive as your meal in Norway, I swear they bump the prices way up in airports and services. Loved the pancakes, took them on the flight as snacks.

But hope you guys enjoyed your trip, and come to Trondheim next time!

It does make it fun to go to other countries for us though since everything is super cheap compared :P A lot of Norwegians travel to sweden just to shop cheaper; like a day trip over the border and back just to shop. :P They even made a reality show of people who do that. @Arman_Tanzarian In a lot of ways yes, but not when IT comes to eating out at restaurants. Its very expensive, even compared to our salaries. Most britsh and americans I know can eat take away/at restaurants way more often than us

    • @kakefyll
      @kakefyll 5 років тому +2

      @Arman_Tanzarian Why can a working class family in the US afford to eat out so often then? I hear families talk about And you cant only look at mcd, but for instance taco bell, kfc etc. You get a whole meal AND a drink for 6 dollars. Mcd is the cheapest place to eat in Norway, go out to a restaurant and you Will get truly insane prices. Like a 20 dollar burger, I kid you not. When I was with my husband in the US (he is american) we ate out all the time, on his one salary. Here in Norway we could barely eat out once a month on my salary. Might be the taxes? How expensive rent is here? i dont know. But peoples money do not go towards eating out, most people cant afford it too often.
      We Are well off in other ways, dont get med wrong (the healthcare free college etc) but people dont eat out that much here. Wjich is why there Are way less fast food chains and restaurants here than america

    • @kakefyll
      @kakefyll 5 років тому +2

      @Arman_Tanzarian There arent crappy cheap fast food places because its very expensive to run a business in Norway, you couldnt get the prices as low and it would loose its appeal. Its not cause we Are better than you haha, if we had access to the cheap crappy food we would be really fat too. Believe me xD

    The reason why its so expensive is the high standard of living and a high minimum wage. Its a wage you can actually live on so like the price might be shocking but you know no one is getting an unfair pay. And you’re basically paying for the welfare
