    Off Topic, I enjoyed your "awful grainy youtube" video on valves. I can't believe you are still at it in this business, . Did I hear correctly that you are working a modular piston system where pistons and sleeves can be easily interchange?
    I can't believe you didn't drive those Tubas and off load Zigs equipment...That's respect right there. I had a Besson 609 student horn where the valve caps had to be basically, left flopping loose or the valve would stick. Also had a nickel plated Getzen/Edwards made horn where my god, the damn plating just started flaking. I was oiling frequently and kept it clean.
    Can't wait to see the new valve design. Also I am glad you clarified the shortcomings of the plastic horns, i was tempted to buy one, now I think I'll find a jalopy Ambassador and just enjoy lose pistons that don't self destruct :)

      Thank you. Yes, we do have a new valveset that will be introduced when the time is right. It allows all three/four/five pistons to be fully interchangeable, adjustable, and replaceable without the need for refitting/lapping.

      @@harrelsontrumpets LOL now can you get these made for Bach and Getzen, they'd shoot you but it'd be cool. Can't wait to see your new valve design.

      Will a swe tuning slide has more effect on the sound as compared to the valve caps?

      The SWE tuning slide is not available for other trumpets.

    Hi guys ! Thank you for the clear explanation ! I'm listening to Jeremy PELT album Make Noise! He's playing on a Harrelson Summit. Any other trumpeter to recommend that has recorded with a Harrelson trumpet ? Thank you !

      There are hundreds of albums played on Harrelson equipment. You may want to check out Arturo's video of Spiderman 2 and his performance at the White House a few years ago. Other artists to check out: Per Bejstam, Willie Bradley, Charlton Singleton, Leroy Jones, Kermit Ruffins, Cindy Bradley, Shamar Allen, Rick Swann, Chadrick Honore (Rebirth Brass Band), Jimmy Reamey, Gary Greenfelder, Erik Telford, Sebastian Jordan, Jorge Vistel, Ionut Tanta, Thaddeus Ford, Brass-a-holics. This list is very long, but this gets you started!

    Here's a question about weight: does a thicker bell sound the same as a thinner bell? Heavier bell will project more that i know

    • @harrelsontrumpets
      @harrelsontrumpets  3 роки тому

      Nope, they will definitely sound different depending on the variable thickness and how it affects resonance.

    Hi! I play a taylor trumpet model phoenix. Is there something you suggest to make it more efficient or easier to play?

      Yes, that's a nice horn! I would recommend adding our VGR system and SWE Mod Kit. Our Mod Kits are on sale this weekend for $100.

    I'm actually looking to invest in a mod kit for my Bach. I recently received the HEVs and they make a difference, so it seems to make sense to just go and get a complete 1/2" mod kit. Saving some money here and there to purchase these in the not too distant future. I am wondering if you can make them looking a bit more like the "stock" caps?

    • @harrelsontrumpets
      @harrelsontrumpets  3 роки тому

      We offered the "Classic" style top and bottom caps for 10+ years, but only sold 5 sets. They do look like a heavier version of Bach and Selmer caps. I could make you a set in my next production run.

    Also, with SWE, is increased mass/rigidity all over the horn desirable, or only on targeted areas?

    • @harrelsontrumpets
      @harrelsontrumpets  3 роки тому +2

      If you add SWE everywhere on the trumpet, it will no longer resonate. This is why designing high efficiency trumpets is considerably more complicated than "adding weight" as so many claim.

    First comment? Really?! Noice. Still practicing, Jason. I've gotten up to an F above high C, but still not as flexible as I want to be. That said, I can play some real music now. Working on getting the lead range. I'll try to make an appointment next time I'm up in that part of the country.
