Throughout history, much of the art now displayed in prestigious galleries was either stolen or acquired using fraudulent funds, reflecting a darker side of the cultural heritage that many cherish today.

She's right about going viral. Everybody wants it, but once it hits, it ain't much fun. And despite her reticence, she did a terrific job presenting the strange tale. I'm a picker like her and have lots of crazy tales about finds, but nothing close to something that generated 90 million in PR.

Awesome! As an experienced auction/thrift shop/yard sale shopper and reseller I'm thrilled to hear the full story of this find. I can only wonder who is clearing stuff for sale at Goodwill that this kind of thing happens.

Wrong question. The question is what's a Roman Bust doing in Germany? Seems like maybe stealing something already stolen once is just to bad for the Germans. I would of not have it to them.

She said she thinks a soldier smuggled it back into the States. When the house it was in was sold goodwill acquired the bust. That is how a lot of things get to Goodwill.

I'm a big Cagney and Bogart fan and when I found a Bogart poster from a movie I never heard of for $8, I scoffed it up! But when I look for it online it's $600 for that movie poster! Because the movie was a dog, they didn't make very many posters! My brother-in-law found a gold painted picture frame worth $300 for only a few bucks at a yard sale

And out of that $90M, how much did the museum give Laura? I'm betting not one cent.

$90M in PR - probably not actual revenue, but yeah I was wondering the same thing… did she get a reward or finders fee? She deserves it!

@@rmk6693 As far as the tax man is concerned, "in-kind" support is the equivalent of income. I'm sure she got nothing but headaches 😵😄

@@blacksquirrel4008 I doubt the tax office gave her a deduction on it and certainly not to the tune of $90M. My main point is that all she got for her trouble was headaches.

That’s a shitty thing to say I thought she was great in her presentation with her humor and her excitement. That was kind of negative thing that she loves her own voice. I’m very happy for her and don’t come here and be all negative. Should be excited
