  • For decades, Victor Carrafa rode with some of the most infamous groups in American history and never let jails or prisons hold him for long. Then one day in the early 1990s he pulled off his most brazen escape ever, with disturbing results. Here is the forgotten story of the ultimate outlaw.

As a Co.Co.County boy from Martinez , who has done 14 years straight in California level four prisons and a crime history buff I have to say you have impressed me with your knowledge and accurate journalism, keep up the good work ! I’m curious where you’re getting these stories n facts from ? I see and enjoy how you include the news reports in the videos plz continue but you have to have sources who have done time or at least been in these Bay Area streets for a long time to come across these crazy true crime stories ? Are you open to suggestions for future stories? I know of a few good ones right up KC’s alley if you are interested let me know ? Also I’m curious about what happened to Gallant after he was busted as you didn’t mention his sentence or ultimate fate …?

I worked for an armored car company that was bought out by loomis. Policy was if the guy that got out was attacked and robbed the driver was supposed to drive away. Had an understanding between about half of us to not leave anyone on their own. I quit in February and the day before Christmas eve the guy who took my place had someone walk up behind him and shoot him in the back of the head. It was a really really bad part of town. When i got out there soon as my boots hit the ground i looked around and unsnapped my holster. Back in the clinton mag restriction days couldnt have over a 10 rd magazine. I carried spares in my lunch box and swapped them out after i got in the truck. Only supposed to carry what you qualified with but guys had everything from a 22 to a 44 magnum on them. Holidays some runs had 2 armed guards. I carried a shotgun when 2 people got out then.

It's always been a myth about the person who escaped Contra Costa County jail in Martinez. I remember hearing someone somehow cut thru the chain fence roof over the handball court and climbed out on the roof. The crazy part is it seems impossible without a ladder. You can see where the hole was patched over still to this day

    • @CARRAFA

My grandfather had formula he would call the bank route he would walking to a bank and just watch. See someone pull out 10 thousand dollars or another significant amount then he come back the next week and like clock work the same guy would be there to withdraw another 10 thousand dollars then they would follow him and rob him for the cash the next time they got out the car it was easier then robbing the bank itself and by doing it enough he'd a score lined up for every day of the week. Less likely to get caught up for that and its a lesser charge then robbing a bank. A individual don't have panic button or cameras.

@@matthiasthulman4058 the Wikipedia entry gives the sanitized version. The book, CHAOS: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties by Tom O'Neill is outstanding and has a very important piece of evidence discovered by the author while researching Jolly West’s personal archive. There are other books also that show how the CIA ran a domestic operation under the guise of Counter Intelligence to infiltrate domestic groups that were considered a threat. There are numerous examples of operatives allowed to escape custody or just let out by judges to do “their thing.” I think the ultimate goal was to destabilize society and create tension and fear to make society more malleable to directed control. The strategy of tension is also tied with Operation Gladio in Europe. Yt has a great video on Gladio and there are numerous books on it including several by academics that really document what can be in this grimy world.

Sorry to write a short novel but it’s a complex topic that can’t be distilled in a few sentences. There is evidence some of these operatives had been subjects of “experimentation” while in prison, the military, schools and mental facilities. This work has been exposed via FOI requests and unintentionally via accidental releases of some the accounting paperwork that governed the programs and projects. Some of it also came out during the Church hearings in the US Senate.

I was good friends with Joan and her sons. I also knew William Crouch. I ate thanksgiving with them once at their apt, really good people. Sad how this all turned out.

This Joan chick sounds pretty solid.
It’s sad bc she was a type of victim herself.

You say "they spray painted the El Camino black" but show a photo of a camero, completely a different type of car and different manufacturer.
An El Camino looks like a pick up truck.

Steve is my good friend ! And my brother in Christ. I hv not seen Steve since I retired and Steve and I shared some conversation before he testified in court against that coward!
I told Steve look him right in the face when asked if he sees the man in court who shot him?
Look him right in the face and state that is him right there! Point! And say no doubt it’s him!
Steve suffered & nearly lost his life! God bless you Steve !
