Historical Info:
In the late 1950s, the Italians, who were showing increased interest in the Standardpanzer program, placed their bets on their own project of a 30-ton tank with a 6-roller chassis, which was called PROTOTIPO 6. It was similar to the Standardpanzer of Group A, but with its own specifics. The emphasis was on welded turrets and their own weapons developments using American experience. During the development, it became obvious that the vehicle would not fit into the design size in terms of weight. The Italians remembered what such growth ends with, so they decided not to invest extra money in their project and wait for the end of the Standardpanzer program to simply buy a finished product. PROTOTIPO 6, which was formed at the very end of the 1950s, was never implemented as a prototype.
