Imagine beginning your shift at the Tchernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and you hear in the speakers "Ok guys let's go BIG BOOM on this now, don't forget to subscribe !"😮😅😂
the reason that the hot water works for coolant is at that tempture you could pour over molten salt and it would cool as the salt would be colder than the reactor itself
@@teammattchew4657 if it results in lasting a long time without water, it is a good thing. Redundancy isn’t efficient, but it is absolutely worth it for things like this
but, it did have water, it was boilling the lake through the walls, if anything this is a little feature for if all security measures fail (impossible)
I'm morbidly curious, if something like this was (or is already) built irl, and things started to fail, would this be an accurate time frame or would it take longer, or would it possibly happen faster? The world may never know. (and probably shouldn't try to know)
Given the appropriate fuel? Yes. Using a modern reactor core? Assuming that none of the failsafe mechanisms worked it'd be at least this fast in most cases (you'd probably actually get a steam explosion on the reactor core and have a few seconds before the dam collapsed), if they kicked in though, it'd be far slower.
I've found that a single neutron can have a big cooling effect but when that point comes, the temp is more likely to spike at any time. I've built a fully reusable rocket booster and if the thermonuclear pressure chamber distorts then it's just a matter of time before it blows out
Pretty close to it, though it seemed more medium. The reactor grew unstable due to a failed electrical test and when shut off caused a runaway reaction that caused two explosions (one steam, the other may have been steam or nuclear). Then it caught on fire, which is a bit closer to the slow meltdown.
If you cooled it from the bottom and vented from the top the Steam wouldn't be a problem The water pressure should be enough to to push the water up to the top of the reactor
The soft meltdown looks pretty salvageable. Assuming the thermal explosion in the water doesn’t damage the dam itself too much.. Can’t say the same for the other meltdowns of course XD
Mean, reactors explode in movies and games, but in reality it’s a slow burn and stuff around the reactor melts. What explodes isn’t the reactor, it’s the cool and, converting to H and O, and if that isn’t vented off it’ll explode, Not the reactor.

when the water can't reach the reactor and there's no cooling for it, this is known as a thermal runaway.
The warmer the cold water gets the less dense it will be which will cause it to slow down less neutrons therefore heating up the water less

It would also irradiated the vicinity to very unhealthy levels making repairs very hard to impossible for quite a while.
You need to have multiple small reactors instead of one big reactor
There is actually a type of reactor that operates at roughly 1832 degrees Fahrenheit.

Why is there a NUCLEAR dam, dams are meant to create power, using the water, which makes nuclear power for the plant completely unnecessary.
