First time I went to Crete in 1998 was to Gouves. It looks like there are a lot more buildings there now than there were back then, but it all looks familiar. Thank you for your lovely videos - please keep making them, and keep being our eyes and ears on Crete - hopefully next year!

There is sand along that sea front area Peggy. All the way along until the end of the road in both directions. Near Island restaurant the beach to the left is gravel and only sandy once you are in the Ocean, but the beach to the right is golden sand x
