What i love about this scene is that it intially looks like its going to be the usual "Evil businessman closes door to hide the scare tactic he'll use to get the politician to agree". You might even think he'll call in Black Noir to be said scare.
Only for it to not be the case and for Stan to actually agree and address the issue.
Just such a great subversion that adds to the characters
note also that he plans to scrap the super hero thing
and then he gets fired by homelander
I'm not sure, but maybe he has a lot of hidden assets he is using behind the scenes in season 2 considering homelander only took control of the super hero part of the company
I guess you could say he doesn't believe fear to be an effective motivator
you cant threaten somone like that- it'll backfire th instant he's out of that office! he jus calls in a mlitary strike- using th V you jus forced him to buy, and problem solved. if you sell weapons, nevr threaten the one you'r selling the weapons to!
@@jennih261Lmao not really?? V has several super nukes in the form of HL and other heroes, plus who knows how many secret V’ed up contingency plans they have in the background? It wouldn’t be that simple to destroy them.
It goes back to the comics where James Stillwell was ashamed of making these people into celebrity/superheroes and goes as far as to call them “bad product” and wants to start over with supes he can control.
One thing ive never gotten sick of is that while it portrays Vought as a very powerful company it never goes for the cliche evil omnipotence that the comics version does. Solving huge PR issues isn't as simple as "they paid them off" there are limits to what vought can do to manage Supes that require time planning and forethought. It's really just a masterclass in writing
The cool thing about evil corporations often underutilized is that they ought to be *lawful* evil, meaning they have standards. Unless you have control of the economy and the people, you have to play the game and the game requires effort to have things in order and to be in good relations with the market/people. If winds change, you adapt.
some have control over the economy and the people@@sugartoothYT
Its very realistic. Vought isnt like the CIA or FBI and they can just government power their way out of controversies and assassinate whistleblowers, they have limits. Much like real world corporations.
@@sugartoothYTyou’re right. Th thing is usually in comics. The head of said evil company is usually some megalomaniac who has goals and aspirations “beyond our understanding”. Vought on the other hand with Edgar Stan in charge is just like any other company. All about the money.
@@alex21390 Yeah Stan as well as Vought as a whole is one of the many reasons the TV series is a massive improvement from the comics.
I love how self aware Stan is. Of course a man such as himself wouldn't tolerate the Supes' antics forever. V-24 would indeed solve all of Vought's problems and boost up their profits, while at the same time eliminating the need for heroes. "When everyone's a super...none is:" If only Vought had been a little bit faster, and Stan had acted a little bit earlier, maybe Homelander wouldn't have managed to succeed in taking over.
They probably were trying to develop it for a long time considering they still haven't perfected it and it is likely he was forced into launching it early because of the Homelander situation
What was the thought process of Vought's top brass in creating extremely powerful psychopaths without any contingencies?
I can't help but think that Stan is orchestrating his 'fall' too, or at least has a plan B. He seems pretty relaxed about the whole thing for me to feel that Homelander really is one upping him here. Remember when he tried to warn Homelander that he really DOESN'T want his job?
Dude Imagine Homelander getting jumped by 10 military dudes with temp V 💀
@@thicc_crust_apocalypsemaybe stan is just using homelander as a scapegoat so he doesn't have to deal with the inevitable PR nightmare it would bring the people would blame everything on the current person in charge (which is homelander) inevitably leading to military action as stan gives temp v to the military to make them clean the mess for him while he has homelander messing up the whole PR nightmare by making his loyal fans who don't have fighting experience go into fight that homelander and his fans possibly cannot win.
2 millions is hella cheap if you think about how much a missile cost
Depends on the powers. The US Navy would happily pay over 10 billion a year for Homelander.
@@Th1sIsMyLegacymore like a week
Ah we stinky Russians can only wish having such insane budget
The problem is that you don't have to fire one missile per soldier every 24 hours
Depends on what missile you are talking about
I bet Stan’s ultimate plan was to kill Homelander by getting Dakota Bob in office and getting him to give the order to kill Homelander by well trained soldiers on temp v.
By the beatdown that homelander took from a former commando, a former soldier and a IT support. Imagine 6 powered special forces beating the crap out of him.
@@hanzojapasoldier boy was quite exceptional though for his powers, same for butcher. Butcher got extremely lucky getting the powers he had, making him rank the 3rd most powerful supe we have ever seen. These soldiers are gonna have to be the best of the best that took the temp v if they want to put up with homelander.
@@Vipa_YRN Yeah Butcher just got plot powers. Crazy as it sounds, the comics did that part better. Butcher was just a mid tier supe in the comics, like all of The Boys. It was enough to explain how he could fight some other supes, but also not too much so as to avoid the question of why he doesn't just gather a few others like him and curbstomp Homelander himself. But in the show, he's like 70% as powerful as Homelander. It's annoying. Two more of him and they'd just straight up win.
@@TheStraightestWhitestand this was extremely pleasant to watch in season 3, that Homelander finally got some proper counter.
@@ДредВинг-ь7ж It should be reserved for the finale of the show, not the midway point.
Gus needs to hire heisenberg to make temp v 99% pure
it'd be basic chemistry.
The real problem is, they still can't control what powers you get. Even super speed or strength would take months to get used to, so you don't accidently kill yourself. 24 hours for random powers is crap.
I mean, look at Butcher and Hughie, apparently these powers can be mastered fairly quickly, and they’re consistently the same power so all you’d need to do is find like 5 or 6 guys with Homelander type powers and you’re set really
@@3adgamd3r Even a squad of Magnetos like the one from Gen V would be completely broken against an Army
Tell me you wouldn't try it if you got the chance, though, regardless of what power you got.
Just the invulnerability and the enhanced strength and speed could justify using the drug. Any other superpower is just an extra.
doesnt matter the army can muster a few hundred thousand soldiers pick volunteers and test out then assemble a force with the specific powers you need and that is assuming Vought doesnt work out which power a soldier would get through genetic testing before you inject them.
After watching Gen V, Stan's plan to get out of the superhero business is quite clear
What is it?

The virus that can spread and kill supes only
@@ericcartman1328 The problem with that is supes are just average humans with Compound V running in their veins. What happens when the virus decides the same average human without Comp V is just as tasty...and then decides, let's go for the freaking BUFFET that is the entire human population, not just those who can get powers?
Stan had nothing to do with the virus. If he did, he would have done so in a far more secret facility, not the one under Godolkin University.
The virus was kept hidden from Vought. Stan would have most likely used those powered by V24 to eliminate rouge supes.
They regret not sticking to drug dealing and arms dealing in Albuquerque.
If Stan hadn't taken that quick shot of compound V, Walter's bomb might have killed him. I wonder if he ever regrets his falling our with Mr. White, imagine what Heisenberg could turn Compound V into if he'd gotten ahold of it.

its terminal in universe last i heard,
What are you even talking about you clown lol
@@TheSimmr001 that’s because the temp V that the Boys (referring to the group) use is still in the experimental phase, had it become a finished product under Stan then they probably would’ve fixed that or at least made efforts to prevent it/treat it, but your point is valid, and knowing the US government they probably wouldn’t care 😂
@@3adgamd3rthey absolutely would care, the US armed forces doctrine is literally using equipments to preserve the lives of their soliders

Given that it can only be used extremely limited and the medical issues to the causes the government would have so many lawsuits that the 2million charge is more than minimal
I think those were the kinks Stan was talking about, lol
I'm pretty sure the military would have a few dedicated soldiers willing to sign a contract saying they can't sue for damages. Especially considering they basically did when they signed up as a soldier. And you don't need many super powered soldiers to win a war I reckon
Yes, but the ones that Billy and Huey took were unfinished prototypes. The finalized version is more than likely going to be distributed with those flaws removed.
The government can pretty much do anything they want with you once you're on the battlefield. They can even kill you on and call it an accident.
Ask any veteran
Military has so many loopholes for Lawsuits so that wouldn't be so much of an issue.
And 2 Million to turn soldiers into essentially a human sized tank with suprise Powers is an amazing deal. It would save so much money to the military by using Soldiers to do things they normally used Missiles/drones and airplanes or Tanks and AVs to do so
Dude think about it. Not only can they use this for the army for the country’s interests overseas but they can make an army against all supes and purge them.
The Big problems are the Cost(That would drop eventually as the Product kept improving), The Randomness and Effectiveness of the powers (Although the Soldier itself also matters and only a handful of power would be practical for the Battlefield) and the limited chances of use.
I imagine the final product will not only have the fatal flaws removed, but also iron-out what type of powers the finalized V-24 drug would give.
The prototype Huie and Butcher took is heavily flawed. From the damage it causes to their bodies, to how random the powers they provide are. The finalized version of the drug would probably fix the performance issues it has.
@@MR.LMR1996 It also needs to have a Instant delivery method, Kind of like how Bane takes his Venom in the middle of a Fight.
It’d also help if the V-24 could extend its Usage time. Like instead of a Day it can also a Week, couple these with a Discounted price and you’ve got a winner.
Funny enough this is the same problem Iron Man faced, He needed his suit INSTANTLY so he kept it on him at all times through Nanotech.
Bobby Singer huntin heroes instead of demons now? Lol
The scary thing about the capability of manufacturing supes is how it would eventually run out of control.
Currently Vought has the monopoly over that kind of tech and just wants to sell its product to the US military but, what would happen if more companies or countries found out how to do the same as them and started an arms race? Everything the Boys would have done until now would be meaningless.
Its like opening the Pandora box: once you open it, you cant put it inside again.
I love Edgar and I really hope he comes back in season 4 and 5. And he's absolutely right. Making supes' powers temporary completely solves the problem they're currently dealing with
I hope Edgar comes back in season 4.

I certainly hope "Dakota Bob" is more human than a politician when the line is drawn
he knows neuman is attempting to usurp him at least
I honestly thought when I saw V-24 I was gonna see a riff on A24
I thought it was gonna be something like the V-1000
I need to remember this isn't the same Vought I'm used to
It's funny because what they're talking about is essentially what they could've done with Soldier Boy. Instead of making him a celebrity, they could've used him for actual military purposes.
Why do I have a feeling that the series finale of The Boys will have Stan sitting back down in this chair?
if they had any sense that's how it'd end.
"In 5 years, I hope to be out of the superhero business entirely. It should be a serious company. A well respected chicken restaurant."
Operations would no longer last a month, and 2m for 24 hours of being a super soldier is actually really cheap. Overall, this is a great move by Vought and it could lead to issues. Especially, if one of these temp-supes, ends up becoming stronger than Homelander...
Plus possible clincical applications such as recovery for cancer, or fix paralysion or be able to heal scar tissue such as burn marks.
Give temp v to some retired veterans facing those situations, heal them up and send them to homelander its a win for everyone.
Yeah, you wouldn't want them to be super for months straight in a row. You'd dose them once to find out what power they'll get, say, 100 doses for 100 candidates, 200 million. Then you'd take the 10 that had the powers you wanted for any specific mission that needed powers, and dose them up, maybe once a month for specific missions. You'd still be spending a billion a year on the project, but you wouldn't want to have someone on V24 for months.
Fun fact: these two actors are both in Breaking Bad.

I’d love to see who Giancarlo will play in the MCU or DCU. He’d be a heck of a villain. Imagine him as Victor Von Doom or Lex Luthor.
NO.
Giancarlo is better off carving his own path instead of being delegated to facsimiles (mediocre adaptations) of DC and Marvel.
Nah, he's already been type casted a lot and Doom or Lex don't act like this
Now mind you I think he could pull Lex off at some capacity, but knowing the writers in modern hero flicks they'll just make him act like Gus since by default everyone will associate him it

The only problem woth this is the fact that the super soldiers can get ANY power. Imagine you're betting on getting superspeed, supers trength or anything powerful but you get some longer fingernails or boneclaws like old Wolverine and Sabretooth.
Is cone of silence a get smart reference?
I believe it’s a Dune reference
No "a cone-shaped region directly above a radio signal beacon in which signals from the beacon are not received by aircraft.". Essentially it means "This stays between you and me"
Stan Edgar reminds me of Raymond Reddington lol.
tbh 10 supes could do the job of over 1000 soldiers depending on their abilitys which would be easy to find out
Problem is the powers are random. So, imagine 10 super soldiers get the power of Love Sausage. That means the army just burned 20 million for a single day.
@@khanhlam882 Assuming they don't iron out the issues in the final product it's true that would be the problem. Ideally they can either tell what powers a soldier would get, not kill them after multiple uses or has a more standardized power set.
That said the other side of the coin is they get 10 homelander levels for a day and would that be worth 20 million.
Why would the hypothetical operation take a month? If you have supes, it would take a day.

Temp-V - by far the most nauseating part of the series.
"Hey, what if we take the series all about a crew of ordinary people finding creative and innovative solutions to take on supes, and we just give them superpowers?" Someone in that writers' room got a prefrontal lobotomy.
In fairness the comics had The Boys use proper Compound V to take down lesser supes, and it’s not like Temp V didn’t have lasting consequences, as well as showcasing the hypocrisy of using it in general.
meh, it never actually helped them take down any supe actually, besides Gunpowder. all it did was give Butcher cancer when you think about it. Soldier Boy at the end of the day was still stopped by ingenuity moreso than anything else.
So is Gus gonna buy a gun off this guy or what?

not the case. hughie had the serum and he certainty didn't turn into superman. besides dc and marvel copy each other all the time. so I don't see why others can't either lol
Yeah, because a substance that gives superpowers to normal persons temporarily is a concept so unique that they could never come up with it on their own.
Yes, because “super drug gives people super powers” is a _totally_ original idea. By that same logic, All-Star Superman ripped off Captain America.
