Barbie is not a feminist/men bashing movie. In fact unlike the movies that accurately have that label, it advocates and acknowledges then men face BS as well out there and we are expected to sukk it up. My mother, sister, and 16yr old niece all recognized that and don't think it's a "woke/feminist" film at all. A good friend whom I trust and would call out ish in a heartbeat told me before seeing it how it isn't what we thought it'd be.
The theme and message isn't for kids at all, Ken when he first hears of "patriarchy" thinks he can literally just say "I want a high paying job and respect" and he gets it and the movie shows that he doesn't get anything w/o working for it regardless of being a man. He still has to go through the steps others did: college, grad, years of work experience, etc. He's the character that actually gets a frull character arc gets to grow and learn as a person. While the women(Barbies) want the status quo to remain the same because in the land of Barbie(delusional fairytale land) the *patriarchy* is ruled by them everything revolves around them Ken is only a sidekick to Barbie. The story is Ken learning to be his own man and finding meaning in not being arm candy for Barbie.
