RAF Basic Training Date Set and What I Am Doing To Prepare For It.

- Hi everyone, I wasn't going to make another video until a couple of days before going in however, it was a very surreal moment so I felt like making a video to show what I am preparing for was necessary. Hope you guys are doing well in your own application and I'll see you in the next video.

Congrats man, you've been a big help will my mental preparation for each of these stages. Just passed my PJFT and awaiting contact from the Portal, feels kind of weird cause I felt like all my effort to pass that was the end but its only the beginning. Once again well done on getting a start date and for being a huge help to me.

That's great news! I'm still waiting on my dates, but when I asked about it, it sounds like I'll be joining somewhere around April 15th
They won't give me a kit list until I have my dates though, so if you did some mentions about what items and documents that we need, then that would be a huge help 👍
That's great to hear hopefully they get back to you soon. Yeah in regards on what items I would be taking (excluding all the stuff required such as GCSE Certificates, vaccination report etc) would be more to do with products I used in the Air Cadets that they don't really state on the packet for basic training.
Things like shoe polish I would always recommend Kiwi brand as they are a really good quality polish. Having a toothbrush to use in the grooves of your shoes that run around the sole of the feet (once you get them you'll see what I mean). Always use cotton wool pads or balls (I would automatically go pads as they are easier) soak them fully first then drain the water till their damp to stop all the fluffy bits going onto your shoes. Things like that.
It's a bit difficult to explain everything in detail over a reply but hopefully this advice will help to some extent. Do let us know when you get your dates :)

@@ibrahimsow7819 Yeah I think I'll continue the channel on as it has been loads of fun for me and people seem to gain something from it so I'll do my best. My plans is to make like phone recordings at the end of the day of just me talking (obviously no actual footage of what I'm doing) on what I would do differently etc. I'll figure it out as I go along

I've been talking over a few of these videos, but i just got my own official start date, looks like I'm late June, just after my birthday funnily enough.
Starting a bit later than i had hoped, but defo gonna be making the most of it.

Oh that's not too bad right in the middle of summer basically so will be nice and hot which ain't great in uniform 😂but hey better than cold. Congrats on getting to that point and happy (future) birthday!
Hi mate, congrats on getting your BRTC date. Could you confirm when in June you’re starting? Been told by recruiter that I could be starting in June but he didn’t give exact date. Thanks.
Hey man I highly recommend you purchase a Tefal iron, honestly they are the best iron to use during brtc where your iron WILL be your best friend
I've already got an iron I don't think its Tefal but its a well known and good brand. What's in a Tefal iron that would make you say its better than others?

Hey mate I just graded 2 weeks ago now start my phase 2 this month and honestly nothing to worry about I’m really not the brightest guy and I had no dramas at all, good luck though bro

@@JakeGchannel chis mate I’m going in as regiment going to honington on the 14th I’m back at Halton on the 7th for a week though, don’t worry about anything for the first 2 weeks your just listing and learning and ironing, the phis is very mild as well

So im currently at raf Halton I'm pretty sure you will be on campion intake, just enjoy BRTC as much as possible it can get tough just stick at it mate I graduate in a week so I won't see you but enjoy it mate

@@JakeGchannel some people react differently, I personally thought it wasn't that bad but some people reacted badly mate any other questions feel free buddy
Congrats on the date pal and just to let you know the fitness requirements have been lowered so now your day one phys test will still be 20 press ups and 34 sit ups but the bleep test is now 8.06 and it used to be 9.10 and if you need any info or help with the kit list I’ll try my best to help
Yeah I've noticed recently as the 2.4km run is now 12.11. I know most items from cadets on what to bring such as brand of shoe polish etc is there anything you would recommend bringing after doing phase 1?
@@JakeGchannel I’m not sure for after but it’ll be hard to find kiwi as they don’t sell in uk anymore cherry blossom is a ok brand to use but I’d recommend me bull and shine as it’s pretty good for bulling.
@@connordoherty1646 Yeah I've noticed that as I used to get mine from Sainsbury's but I do think you can still order some from amazon I haven't looked in a while. Cherry blossom was always my got to as a reserve if I couldn't find any Kiwi. Good to see the cadets were right in that regard XD.
Congrats mate. Question about the PJFT. Do you get a drug/piss test before you do the fitness test?

Thanks! I didn't personally no. I just have to do a zoom 1-to-1 and fill out some forms and that's it.

Once you finish training, you would usually get a week off but then you’ll either go on SATTs or you’ll be starting your Phase 2 straight after, if you go on SATTs you’ll be back at Halton in the SATT blocks getting the weekends off, or if you go to Phase 2 straight away you’ll get weekends off after a couple of weeks in most trades, but will have some working weekends.
CCS is quite a long Phase 2, with a child you’ll be entitled to get a house I believe as it is over 6 months long, just something to consider for you as the rental costs are subsided.
Thank you! And yeah I spoke to my recruiter today and he says I'll get 2 days off from passing out of Phase 1 before heading to Cosford for Phase 2 which was a little shock. He mentioned there is no family accommodation at Cosford so I've been looking at potential renting outside of base instead so will have to see. He did say there is some family like rooms I believe that we can have for a few days but not permanently through my training, no idea.
@@JakeGchannel you can definitely get a house at Cosford if you’re entitled and in training
I live 15 minutes drive away from costford and there is definitely housing there. They even have an overspill housing area from cosford about 5 minutes away from where I live. I would definitely look into it.
They also do contact housing (which is what I use when I visit my son up north) they are on base and are fully furnished houses that you rent off then for cheap. (But not sure that would be a permanent solution for you though)

@@mkjones7603 Oh right I have been looking at renting locally but to no avail just yet and yeah my recruiter mentioned something like that so hopefully I can get a few weeks with them at least will be tough as I don't want her growing up without me as a prominent figure in her life.

Also just been told by a Pilot officer that we are possibly one of the last to go to Halton for an intake, not sure if it’s true but it’s cool nether the less, also found out the RAF Fitness test the one you do at Halton the beep test requirement has been moved down, 17-18 is now 8.06 from 9.10
@@swindle6388 Oh really? As in they will stop using Halton for basic training? Yeah I noticed that the other day I'm still struggling to hit 8.06 tho the turning part of the bleep test is what gets me the most.
The covid jab, they say not to have it 72 hours prior because there is an increased risk of myocarditis, and it is brought upon more by exercise, especially in the hours and days following vaccination. What will you be doing on day 1? Bleep test. They wouldn’t any issues with you would they

What the first test hard were they check if your right for the role ?
Defence aptitude test they have a mock test on the raf website and the here’s multiple books you can buy to help practice and prepare for it
It isn't a walk in a park but it varies obviously person to person if you are academic (which I ain't) then it won't be too hard but everything comes with how much you revised/practise so the difficulty is in your hands.
