It was on my bucket list to get a shot of the Milky Way. I first achieved this in December of 2021 in the Isle of Skye in Scotland, unfortunately, me being new to astrophotography, I failed to realize that the core of the Milky Way was not visible at that time of year, so I had gotten the wrong part of the Milky Way that I was after. After spending numerous hours learning, researching and studying the Milky Way, it's segments, the times of year it is visible and where to see it, I took a trip to Wales in May 2022. Although I did manage to capture it high in the sky at 3am one morning, I didn't get it as clear as I'd hoped and drag on the stars from a long exposure was too much to add to the portfolio, although I considered this a win, I still wasn't happy with the clarity. I then started chasing the Milky Way around the country while in season. I headed down to Dorset in July and August 2022, some 240 miles one way and sleeping in my car, to capture my previous shot at Durdle Door and again at Portland Bill Lighthouse.
I hope you can appreciate the efforts that I went to and the insane amount of learning hours, planning, travelling and staying up 'til the early hours of the morning to capture these shots.
