For all the people who are about to comment their specs and ask if Dx 11 or Dx 12 or Performance mode will be better: As I said in the video, you need to try Dx 12 yourself for a few days and see if it's stable. If not, switch back to Dx 11. If both feels roughly the same, stick to dx 11 as it has a lower input delay. Also, I gave a general guide that you can follow based on what GPU you have at around 3:10. Update (Feb 3rd, 2021): Performance mode seems to be more optimized now and can deliver a much smoother experience. If you need more fps and you don't mind the look, I highly recommend switching to it! I honestly don’t know what’s better. My PC is so freaking weird. I have a Ryzen 2700X with an RTX 2080 Super and 32g of 4600mhz ram running at 3600mhz. Everyone who owns a PC will have a different result than me, but this is what I have experienced. I remember trying Performance mode and it didn’t really improve anything. I only tried it for like an hour or so before I turned it back to DX12. Needless to say I don’t have that much experience with Performance mode as its a 2080. If you buy a 2080 and turn on performance mode, its kind of a waste. There are plenty of cards out there that will benefit more from performance mode than an 80 series card. With DX11, my lobby frame rate is rock solid. When I scroll through the item shop its a smooth locked 120fps (as the lobby can now only run at 120 max), and scrolling through my skins results in no sudden frame rate drops or issues. On the battle bus my frame rate is maxed out at 158 (because thats my g-sync frame rate), but if I fly by Daily Bugle, it tanks to like 90. Any situation where there are a lot of objects in a small place the frame rate dies a slow and painful death. But if its only like 1 house it’s pretty good. DX12 for me stinks like rat piss in the lobby. It stutters like mad when I scroll through the item shop and my skins. It will only smooth out when I’ve been sitting in the lobby for a while and the stuttering comes back anytime I restart the game. It’s very annoying. If anyone has a solution to this or have experienced this and fixed it on DX12 somehow, please feel free to let me know. Other than that, my overall fps on Fortnite is higher on DX12. High object count scenes are a lot more stable, and less complex scenes are the same. It’s just the lobby experience is a lot worse on DX12. I thought it was my ram for the longest time and maybe it is but on DX11, the lobby has no problem running smoothly. Another thing to note is that between DX11 and DX12, my frame rate does act differently. My lows are different and my highs are different consistency wise. I might try turning off DLSS (which believe it or not can actually increase overall fps on some systems) to see if that can fix the problem.
from what I know DX12 is really dependant on how long you've used it because it stores the textures and models for later use, so when using DX12 you're meant to run it for a while so it fully stores all the necessary data for models and textures making it a whole lot smoother later down the line also DLSS is just a form of Anti-Aliasing that helps avoiding pixelated models and textures, but from what i've seen it's actually an AI made by Nvidia that downscales stuff that's not important to make important things sharper but I haven't tried to play around with the settings that much

Performance
@@Peezs Sorry to ask but my fps is running very low what can i do to get higher fps? Do you know anyone who can help me out with optimizing?
Well unfortunately, I don’t believe there are much that u can do with those specs. An expensive method would be using an external GPU, or u can try playing at a lower 3D resolution

I hate this game so much, but had to watch it for the explanation :)
I find that DX12 causes me to get less fps
I play on DX12 with high settings since i have a good system (RTX 4080).
But whenever i set the “Effects” setting on “Epic”, i still get the same performance but at the most random moments my fps drop to around 40 - 0 for a second.
Happens like 3 to 4 times per match, but still gets annoying as it sometimes happens during a fight. Anyone familiar with this? Or what should i do?
Hi I have a i5 4690 and a gtx 1070 windows pro idk which to use or which one is good for me 11 or 12 dx
12
And have you overclocked your i5 4960?
I thought performance mode was only for integrated cards? I thought performance used cpu instead of gpu
I own a gtx 1060 6gb with a ryzen 3 3100 with performance mode at 240 fps smoothly. And the 1660ti isnt low end.
compared to the rest of nvidia's lineup, it would be closer to the low end side of things. That said, it is by no means a bad performing card.
1660 ti is beast still
@@xalozz7477 I have gtx 1660 ti max-q design

doesn't hurt to try~ I built a new pc with a 3070 and am using Dx 11 as I dont need over 144fps and much prefer the lower input delay

There's only one, which you can find at the top
Hey bud, no hate an all, but you’re said you shouldnt use performance mode, If you did research you would understand it moves some of the Tensity on the GPU and CPU to your ram, so the better or more ram you have your performance mode should run a lot better

also at the time of recording this, performance mode was very unstable, it provided higher fps but the 1 percent and 0.1 percent lows were horrible
I have rtx 4070 and i5 10400f. What should I use?

my pc is literally dogwater, I play on a laptop ( normal laptop, not a gaming laptop ) which has ryzen 5 with vega 8, and dx 11 makes my pc run as hot as lava and fps don't even reach 25 that's why I play on performance, but I know I will get a good gaming pc sometime soon, wish me luck if you want to do so.

@@Peezs hi sorry to bother u again when I play dx 12 my gpu usage is really low I don’t know why it’s on like 10% do u know what it could be
bottlenecked by CPU or simply because the scenery isn't demanding. If your usage doesn't change when u uncap ur fps limit, then it could be something else
When I asked other people they said because of bottleneck but my cpu is like 50-60 but even on performance mode I get audio glitches

Pretty common for laptop to stutter, no real fix tbh cause I was in a similar situation, but performance mode would be the best and minimize lag
