    At my home, I installed 2 GWN7660s, to replace a couple of mesh systems. One was for IoT, and one for everything else. In all, I had 5 APs and 6 SSIDs. There was more RF flying around the house than necessary (obviously).
    With my 2 new 7660s, and having the advantage of VLANs, I was able to reduce the number of SSIDs to 4. The CAP (Master) is in my home office, and the RE (Mesh) is in the garage, at the far side of the structure.
    After reconfiguring a few client SSIDs, and testing everything (51 nodes in all), these APs are undoubtedly the best decision I could have made. My decision to buy Grandstream, was largely based on information you provided through your UA-cam videos. So, a big thanks to you!

      How are you powering your RE (Mesh)?

      Hopefully your "mesh" setup uses cables and isn't a wasted device behaving as a wireless extender.

      @@denmanfite3156 No data cable connection. The garage AP is setup for wireless mesh. Grandstream calls it an RE (range extender). I set up another AP (RE) in the middle of the basement. Although, cables would be the preferred method, my current configuration works just fine.

    Good video as always Willie! Is the rogue AP detection specific to the 7660?

    Thnx Willie good info, looks like this ticks most/all of my boxes. That embedded controller has tweaked my interest I think I’ll source one and try it out.

    Can they work as a mesh, where one is without a RJ45 connection? (backhaul)

    Thank you very much for the video. Do you have any information about when Grandstream will release a new firmware which enables all 5 GHz channels?

    i got two of these on the same network, took for ever for the "Detect AP" button to find my "Slave Device" got it up and running in my test environment. I then decided to deploy to real world, changed the ssid on the "Master" device, it never replicated to the second device, I have tried every way in the world to factory reset these devices. After doing so ( took so many tries to go thru) reconfigured my master, the detect ap never finds my slave device.. Now Im stuck cant reconfigure it.. may just return them to amazon find a different product.

    Can you join the remote AP to the controller AP? The remote AP is connected to the main site via S2S VPN.

    Am I crazy or is the only way to upgrade the firmware locally on these GS APs is to login with the MAC and Password, as a Master, then change the FW address, and update/upgrade. Then when done, unit is back to blue. Factory default/reset, back to purple and done. When updating the FW on the Master it does NOT update the slaves automatically unless I was missing a step. Is it me or is that odd? I see no place in the Master GUI to pass newer FW to the slaves.

      There's an upgrade button but I don't believe there's an auto upgrade option.

      @ElaBellll Рік тому

      In the documentation it says to upgrade the slaves first (through the access points > configuration) page and then after that is done, upgrade the master from the (Settings > Maintenance) page. I think this is just how they intended it to work, possible because the master orchestrates what ap's upgrade when or something maybe.

    Is this a cheap Chinese knockoff of Ubiquity? I have never heard of this company. The APs, UI, and even the sign on page looks just like Ubiquity.

      Axel, being a user of both platforms Ubiquiti and Grandstream, nothing about Grandstream resembles Ubiquiti, not even close.

      @@JacobNussbaum01 Hello Jacob. I've been using Ubiquiti APs for a majority of my installs for over fours years. In the last year however, I have been shifting to using Grandstream APs. I have a home currently under construction and Grandstream will be the APs of choice in my home. Now that said, it's not a one size fits all thing. It all depends on the use case. Every environment is different.

      @@QuikTechSolutions any updates on your Grandstream deployment? I'm looking to pick up a new AP- torn between the GWN7660/7664 and TP Link EAP660 and Unifi U6Pro

    • @QuikTechSolutions
      @QuikTechSolutions 2 роки тому

      @@realifejon so the update is that I’ve installed the Grandstream GWN7630s in my home. It’s been about 8 months and I couldn’t be happier. BTW, can’t speak to TP-Link gear as I don’t use it. From a management perspective, I don’t have the luxury of using a single pane of glass like you get with Unifi. For example, my router is an Edgerouter 6P, my switches are all Unifi, and the APs are Grandstream. Everything works perfectly together, but I don’t have the luxury of managing the entire network from one central location. I also use the Grandstream UCM6302 PBX with a Wi-Fi VOIP handset. The Grandstream APs allow for optimizing the voice traffic, whereas you don’t get this with Unifi. Anyway, hope this helps.
