This is something I've always struggled with and will give it a go down the range later. Thanks Steve, top man as ever !
I use a version of t his but on the top backswing hold the shaft vertically and in balance, then the smallest tip backwards triggers the downswing and accelerates the head onto plane
This drill seems to put you on a very similar swing path as what the GEM swing trainer does. Interesting stuff.

Great video, I seem to be able to do the first 2 elements fairly easily but a lot of my irons off the tee, push right with a straight ball flight because I don't do a full roll after impact like you explained. If I flip my hands, the ball hooks. Need to work the post impact a lot, thanks for your video Steve!
I tried the drill in the garden, a very different feeling for me, hopefully this will help me achieve consistent controlled driving. Another range trip required, thanks

Steve Johnston, I can possibly help you with this, having people learn the feel of a clockwise swing vs a counter-clockwise swing. It came from Moe Norman who probably didn't know why it was so good, but it was good and not many people would come to it since it's an awkward unusual feeling i.e. golf. Let me know. Oh, and Sasho MacKenzie, the biomechanist, put the icing on the cake for this.
The answer is No! Unless you started as a child, chances are you are in for a golf life of misery😂. For every 1 person who improves, there are 99 off us shooting the same crappy scores for decades. I am still gullible enough to think I may get better, and I enjoy your videos.
