Spot-on about how she puts her own spin on covers. So many people want to do an impression of the original artist's voice or style, and she's not really about that.
A truly sublime songwriter her melodies and bridges are iconic in structure . simple but multilayered in meaning. Really quite profound. And this child can project her essence into any song and make it one of a kind. All this at 14 years of age Truly Grace is a true definition music itself thank you Fair tidings to you and yours
I know; I had an argument with a friend of mine---I said, "she's a genius" and she said, "well, she's talented but I wouldn't call her a genius". Now after viewing more of Grace she said, "Okay, you're right, she's a genius". Ha ha. Made me feel so good. I knew it 20 seconds into her first song on AGT.
@@jamessmithe5490 The sad thing is that she has at least 6-7 songs that she wrote that would definitely have settled in the top ten and a couple songs that had top slot possibilities. But she has no syndicated radio coverage at all she rely s on hard work and you tube as far as a genius is concerned it is all relevant to ones perspective Dylan, Gershwin, Mozart all made stupid decisions on multiple occasions in their lives. But man could they write and compose and Grace's music is age and culture inclusive with melodies and bridge structure is unique just to her and lyrical content that is simply profound thank you James for your comments
@@jamessmithe5490 Oh, so much a genius. As noted elsewhere, she had just learned this song, was partly reading the lyrics. Yet her choices of dynamics, pacing, choice of aspects of her voice(es) to use - all perfect. Only a genius can do that. She did this even more so at age 12. Sang "12 Stars" moments after she finished writing it.
This was the first time she had sung this song. She was reading the words as she weent. the shaky thing she used was a box of oatmeal. Got all that info from the interview. Love your reactions. Lots of singers cover songs and do OK...Grace makes them better. Just saying. She has sooooo much emotion in her songs.....always.

Wonderful reaction. I wish more people would subscribe to your channel to see how a good reaction is done, just from a technical point-of-view. Audio balance, timing of comments, not getting in the way of the video while making cogent points at opportune moments, saving broad analysis to the end. You make it seem easy, but obviously (based on some reactions I've seen by others) it's not. The guitar player deserves a heap of kudos, too - perfectly balanced, completely in sync with Grace, not once even a little too loud or too soft, spot-on rhythmically, especially at the end. Does anyone know his name?
You need to do a reaction or two to Courtney Hadwin (AGT 2018 or Voice UK 2017) ... Her "Hard to Handle" cover is miles better than the 'Alain Clark, Waylon & New Amsterdam Orchestral' version you recently reviewed. I would not be surprised if the two, Grace and Courtney, did the best gig ever together some time in the future .. And yes, another fabulous Grace cover .. On a par with "breathe me".
Yes. "Breath me" is also one that I always have to go back to - Before AGT adorably awkward but a jaw dropping interpretation. Why are there not more reactions to that performance?
